Cheny's right. I can't stand her, but she's right. There's a meaningful distinction between "terrorism" and other types of violent acts. A serial killer is not a terrorist, but someone who comits violence to further an ideology (usually on behalf of a group) is. They're not all muslims (e.g., Timothy Mcveigh), but most are. That's a fact, and it should never be considered "racist" to acknowlege facts. I feel sorry for peace loving muslims who are unavoidably linked to violent extremists.

Colt, you are missing a point here. A terrorist by definition is a person who terrorizes inoocent people through his barbaric actions i.e killing people regardless of race, gender and religion. So, we have to admit that white people, along with other races "can" also be terrorits. Unfortunately, we have always been labelling the word terrorist with Muslims.

I agree that there are indeed white terrorists, including Von Braun. I'm just pointing out that more people are killed by Muslim terrorist attacks than by other attacks. That's not me being culturally insensitive; that's just cold hard statistics. Read the Qu'ran to see how violent this book is; it is the holy book of Islam, and can never be revised. I agree too, while this Braun is a real scumbag, almost the same day some black muslim creep murdered two soldiers in a shopping center yet this guy got all the news. Maybe he had the best intentions, but he was psychotic, because only a psychopath would have blamed those people in the holocaust museum (perfectly innocent, random people who just happened to walk in that day) for the iraq war or for 9/11. I find it interesting how the right will say that right-wing, Christian radicals are "disturbed individuals," but Muslim radicals aren't. They try to make the claim that terrorism is a natural outcropping of Islam; however, they argue that killings and bombings carried out by white right-wingers are mere aberrations, the actions of troubled lone-wolves, despite how common such events are.

Really? We have bases in Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia? I'm unaware of this. We do have bases in certain Muslim countries, but we also have bases in certain secular/Christian countries in Europe, too. In fact, we have had, since WWII, huge numbers of troops in Germany. Do they blow themselves up in misguided protest? If we fight a war, the purpose is to "dominate." American culture and goods are readily available to people who want to adopt them. If you don't like it, then you don't have to buy it.

We created algeria, morocco and tunisia. Those are colonies of france, I believe, and still controlled by the western powers. The people in germany fought us for over two years, but they don't now, probably because we are like them and we respect them. Yes, we fight wars to dominate, to open up markets and change policies of other countries to be more favorable to american corporations. This is a widely known fact.

There's the Holocaust museum shooter, Dr. Tiller's shooter, and the guy who killed three police officers in Pittsburgh. All of these were right-wing radicals who committed their crimes this year. Other famous instances include Oklahoma City and the bombing at the Olympics in 1996. That's how common they are on American soil. Then throw in all the people who are killed every day in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now tell me, who are the real terrorists?

You're confused as to who your enemy is, so I'll tell you: I don't want to kill you, neither does my government, or most Americans. If you're not a Muslim, Muslim extremists want you dead. They're right-wing as hell. Add up the acts of terrorism you mentioned... they don't come close to 9/11. In Iraq, we kill people. We don't kill as many as Saddam. He invaded Iran, attacked Israel, butchered Shiites, gassed Kurds.

In a way, a terrorist, as henous as his act may be, could be more innocent than a cold blooded murderer. After all, the terrorist believes he is pleasing his god. A cold blooded murderer just hates! I've been called names for sharing this opinion. I guess if you agree with anything a Cheney says, you will have to be prepared for this. It still hurts.

Over a million iraqis died because of our invasion of Iraq. 20,000 lebanese (mostly civilians) were murdered by israel in 1982, 1300 civilians were murdered by israel during the gaza massacre. I don't know the numbers, but I know that muslims have been slaughtered on a regular basis by the hindu fascists in india. We should get upset when islamic fundamentalists kill people, but we should not pretend that they are the only ones in the world causing problems.

That still doesn't come close to the number killed by Saddam. He butchered Shi'ites, gassed Kurds, launched missiles at Israel, and invaded Iran. His death toll is well in the tens of millions. The difference between a terrorist in the US and one in say, Iran, is in the way we treat them. We vilify terrorists in this country and prosecute them to the full extent of the law. If you were to beat a woman to death in Iran for "indecent exposure", you would be let off. Somalis stone raped women, too.

Islamofascism is far more dangerous than you think. From throwing acid into the faces of school girls, to burning books, to stoning women for the "crime" of being raped, these are common practices in many Muslim-majority nations. A Christian, Atheist, or Jew would never dream of this. Under Sharia law, many of these practices would be made into commonplace. So please, don't try to be a cultural relativist, because it gets you nowhere and it's fucking stupid.

Don't try to dress up religious bigotry as a "fight against fascism". Religious bigotry IS fascism. Islamofascism is a nonsense word, used to villify an entire section of the globe. Islam and fascism are two separate, unrelated things. Get it straight, and stop villifying muslims for things that all cultures are guilty of, including our own. Whether you realize it or not, there are, in fact, extremist christians, and hindus and jews, and extremists are usually unpleasant people.

You're right, religious bigotry is indeed fascism. Who is the most guilty of this? Who kills the most people for reasons set about by a prophet who's been dead for over a thousand years? There are extremists of all hues, but which nations operate with nonsense laws derived from said religions? We certainly don't; our First Amendment defines the separation of Church from State. The Saudis don't seem to be so enlightened.

The saudis are indeed fascists, by any definition, however, if you accept the idea that their brand of fascism is somehow justified by religion, then you are just playing into their hands. Repressive governments almost always cloak themselves in religion in order to justify their actions, and it is up to you whether you want to accept that their actions are justified, or unjust and unsanctioned by god. Islam is like all other faiths, it is open to interpretation.

Islam is indeed an interpretation, but that doesn't mean that it's correct; it doesn't mean that we should sympathize with them because of their nonsensical interpretation. After the Danish cartoons came out, Muslims ACROSS THE WORLD protested, often violently. Embassies were burned, people were threatened and murdered. Why? Because their prophet said that it was wrong to draw people (especially him). What is reasonable about that? Why should that not be resisted by any non-masochistic person?
