Jack Bruce is an unappreciated icon ... He & Jack Cassidy are the 2 greatest bassists I've ever heard in my life, live or recorded ... And Jack's totally unique voice haunts the caverns of my musical memories since childhood .. An amazing piano man, to boot ... And those songs he wrote! Songs For A Tailor cut him out of the mainstream, but his incredible syncopations, his nearly dischordant meoldies, were a fusion still hard to put a tag to ... God bless, Jack ...; )
Hi Janey. You have the original DVD of this whole song?! Please post the whole song or send details to buy the DVD myself. Love this! The 70s was my decade. The best music ever made! Thanks, John
If I can dig out the original album and cover from the crawl space Songs For a Tailor, I could tell you if the writer was Bruce or Pappalardi. Anyway the Latter died tragically, killed by wife Gail over a love triangle.
this song is ALL JACK's ..written by him sung by him on Songs for a Tailor (his 1st solo album aftr CREAM) Felix was still in Mountain then (i think!) , Jack new him from the Disraeli Gears days on..they obviously were good pals cos Jack let Moutain play and kinda "own" one of his BEST songs!!
Hahah this Ass clown tries to promote his garage band on every thread. No matter how many people tell him the Tom Jones wannabe has ZERO talent, he plods on dreaming.
Oh Leslie West is the right guitarist for this, and either Jack or Felix Pappalardi had the vocals down pat, but NO LESLIE WEST means NO Imaginary Western! Great song and Jack Bruce is definately the man, but West, Bruce, and Laing and MOUNTAIN (AKA Leslie West on guitar ) own this song...
Genious? Now you dont have to throw accolades! :) I know exactly who wrote the song. Let me educate you a bit, it was written by Jack Bruce and Pete Brown. Felix Pappalardi was Cream's producer, and later bass player for Mountain. See the connection now? You can sit down now, you've been trained!
Genius? I meant moron. To put a legend like Bruce down for doing up his own work which has endured for nearly 40 yrs = zero. You are a critic only in your pointed pinhead. You could not educate or train yourself. Call the SPCA, maybe when they see you they will relieve your misery.
vsionary... moron and pinhead? You are a class act I see. I just said I was a West, Bruce, & Laing fan. That means I'm a JACK BRUCE fan. Jack wrote a great song, and HE will tell you his favorite versions were performed with Leslie West. He said it in '72 on tour with Leslie and he said so on the Howard Stern Show in '88. Now, sit down.
During 4 decades I have seen Mr. West perform live, apx. 12 times. Obviously his music appeals to me. That is not the point. Any author deseves respect for their masterful works. I have listened to "Theme" 1000's of times. My favorite version is original Moutain, "Climbing" originally titled Mountain.
Not that it matters, yet the Colloseum version on here, agreee with you is imitation plastic gummy rubble...
Hahahaha, NOW we are in complete unison... well almost. Dont you think you are insulting the imitation plastic gummy rubble industry in comparing it to Colloseum?
Jack wrote it ....and Ive heard it played SO many times by all the people /bands you mentioned . my favourite version is THIS ONE ..just Jack himself singin and playing it on his piano at home ...you know why ? cos the song came from HIS heart and soul...
wow, thanks so much for this, one of the greatest songs ever, the Mountain version was great too, i saw Mountain perform it on the same bill with Jack Bruce & Friends (w/Larry Coryell & Mitch Mitchell & Mike Mandell (?) i think? i gotta find this film.

Mountain don't own this song. The recorded version by Jack Bruce is in a league of its own. It is Bruce's song.

Jack and Leslie what a team...sham it didn't quite produce but that the glory of a cracked genius like Bruce so very talented so very difficult.

Beautiful tune, check out the Colosseum version (Incredible vocals by Chris Farlowe). My Favourite version is by mountain, live at Woodstock
from the double album Woodstock Two (better than the studio version).
