No, just the part where James Bond is brought in to train with Tiger Tanaka's ninjas. My understanding is that Kagemusha (samurai movie set in the Sengoku era) was also filmed here (I have the DVD but haven't got around to watching it).
And yes, I've also been to Himeji Castle, and loved it.
No, just a couple of brief scenes which portray James Bond training with the Japanese Secret Service, and Spectre manages to infiltrate an assassin in an attempt to kill Jimbo.
Very nice the plastic model i found this model to in ebay, but as u say the paper craft projects is cool to i have make the Horyuji pagoda and is very nice but in time is more "fragile" than plastic model.
@BENTLEYQUEMP yeah if they can somehow manage to climb up the steep rock walls and or get across the moat and yeah you can say that cannons can be used but who's to say cannons won't be fired back and they samurai would be fully prepared before the attack due to ninjas scouting ahead. yes they did exist
@latino1samurai ....trust me...they could,..a trebuchet would destroy a castle in days...english medieval armies spent decades perfecting seige warfare......however i do agree the average samurai was better trained and more skillfull than the average knight.
@BENTLEYQUEMP we also have to put in mind that ninjas or shinobi were also used by the samurai clans as a means to scout sabotoge and spy before the battle so how can you shoot a trebuchet without load or if the wood is broken or the rope missing and a few of your important men in battle are somehow missing and while you try to sort things out you get ambushed. but yea the bottom half is stone and the top half is wooden so it would be easy to destroy but i would recomnd to just set them aflame
@AkibakeiRiE Most European armies were using cannon by that point, as well. Edinburgh Castle's first gun was purchased a century before the Sengoku period even started.
I would give a lifetime to watch Sir Arthur Wellesley storm one Nippon Castle with the 88th , the 84 ,Highland egiments , and some Riflemen plus Indigs..
@princecharming161 The problem with Japanese castles as opposed to European ones from what I have read is that they had a bad tendency to burn down. Pretty buildings are nice, but granite walls last longer.
Yes, absolutely, but light cardboard like cereal boxes would be better. I will be doing a tutorial on how to make a japanese style castle out of paper and cardboard.
You're pronouncing Himeji wrong.

Himeji Castle was also the training camp for the ninjas of the Japanese Secret Service - if you believe the James Bond movie You Only Live Twice.

jap castles are mostly wood....a medieval english army would take about a day to fuck it up.

I saw a great show on those Japanese castlles once.....they made you wind thru a shooting gallery to get inside....
What a view from that castle!
And it's awesome they make a model you can take home:)
Now you have to sculpt a little Will to put in the castle:)
