menthol cigarettes have shards of fiberglass in them to give more of a tingling sensation when you smoke them. clove cigarettes, although natural, will cause your lungs to bleed if you smoke too many in too short a time. i have a friend that smoked a pack of clove cigarettes in an hour and started coughing blood, so i know this to be fact

seriously, we're all going to die one day, so why not have fun and enjoy what life has to offer ? yea i know smoking is bad, but unless you smoke like 2 pack/day nothing's gonna happen to you, just quit once you get 30 or so, you'll still gonna be the same like every other men and women who didn't smoke. If the ash goes everywhere, or falls easily then their is little tar in that brand.

Menthol cigarettes do not contain any fiber glass however there is evidence that they are worse for you because smokers who smoke them tend to hold the smoke in longer thus allowing more toxins to enter the lungs. If you still want to smoke, smoke American Spirit. They are made with natural tobacco which contains no chemicals. They are not harsh if you get a fresh pack and smoke them within three days of opening the pack. Good luck!

Heads up, the FDA about to ban all flavored cigarettes, including cloves. They're cutting the nicotine content in half too, which is stupid because that's only going to make people smoke more, and like the person below me said, lung cancer isn't caused by nicotine, it's cause by hot smoke burning the cilia(tiny hairs) in your lungs away, then those hairs grow back and everytime they grow back there is a greater chance of mutation, which is cancer.

And American Spirit is quite nice, it's only harsh if it starts to dry out BUT you need to keep the tobacco moist by leaving the pack open outside for a few minutes a day - the chemicals are usually to give it a stupidly long expiry date (tobacco's a plant, obviously it'll start going bad at some point) and to prevent it from losing too much moisture and drying up - and by that way, making it not easier to smoke, but with the same ease over a longer period of time.

Menthols = flavoured filter, and if I wanted something minty, then I'd eat gum.

menthol crystals look like small glass chards,

take a pack of regular cigs & some menthol crystals, get a wooden box, place a little menthol crystal in the box, take the regular cigs from the pack & put them in the box containing the crystal.... close the lid on the box & leave in a warm place for 1 or 2 days,then you have menthol cigs...

I've smoked menthol's in the past and I understand how some people enjoy the taste. But I prefer the taste of pure tobacco.

As far as whether Cloves, Menthol's, or regular cigarettes are worse, it's an academic point. We all know that smoking can kill you depending on the luck of the draw.

Cloves have clove oil in them. That might have something to do with it because that oil would make it into your lungs. And I have heard that certain brands of lights have fiberglass in them. No idea if that's true, but I imagine the reason would be to allow it to enter you blood stream faster? (Literally by cutting the membrane in your lungs...that would hurt after a while.) Still wouldn't really make sense because the filter would probably pick most of it up.

The nicotine supposedly leaves your bloodstream in about three days. The feeling you experience around one week is probably all that other crap leaving your system, IE: the "crazy chemicals," which can take weeks. The tar can take years to completely clear out of your lungs, depending on how long you smoked for. I imagine the oil from cloves would wreak havoc on your lungs for a while after quitting. No idea about menthol.

Of course this is all hearsay and speculation on my part.

I smoke natural tobacco. We can get it here in the netherlands which contains less chemicals than regular cigarettes. Mind you, when i was abroad and took it with me, people asked if it was weed. I enjoy a menthol cigarette now and then but I don't like smoking a whole pack of menthols. I read american spirit cigs have the nicotine extracted, then reformulated chemically, and put back in, so that the nicotine is much more quickly and thoroughly absorbed. So they might not have added ingredients but they are definitely not truly "natural". I don't remember where I read this but it was a reliable source.

Yes your lungs hurt bad because the cilia in the lungs are on overdrive getting rid of the TAR. Normally it is used to remove solids from the lungs and wind pipe.After a while this gets fried and stops working altogether, no more hack. Anything that smokes, wood , cloves, rubber is bad period,.So If it was me , and I had to smoke I might as well get a rush. Fine hand rolled Cigars are the way to go. High end cigars from the Dominican republic like Fuent'e Opus X are a place to start.
