I was in the Tattenham Marquee for this race, there were plenty of Larry Loudmouths walking around tipping Jan Vermeer to decimate the field...This one particular loud mouth stuck £5k ON THE NOSE! Unlucky son, what a race, what a day. Doing it all again this year !
Sometime during the 2011 flat season, I hope we get a chance to see Workforce and Rewilding in the same field again over 12f. I'm not saying that I believe that Rewilding can or will beat Workforce over 12f. But I do believe that Rewilding is a much improved horse now from when he faced Workforce in the Epsom Derby. You can look at Rewilding's win's in the Great Voltigeur at York and the Sheema Classic in Dubai and tell he's really gotten much better for the experience, IMO.
i was at churchill when he was withdrawn. very disappointed as thought he was a certainty. great run here by workforce in record time. looking back at this field now - it has to be one of the worst in last 50 years
@naashead, Workforce would've decimated that field that ran in the 2010 B.C. Turf if he had ran in the race, IMO. Once Workforce was withdrawn, the French colt, Behkabad, was really the most talented horse left in the field. But for whatever reason, Behkabad just didn't run his race at CD that day? But the Sheema Classic has exposed the B.C.Turf for being one of the weakest renewals ever of that race. B.C.Turf winner, Dangerous Midge, last of 14 in Dubai. B.C.Turf 2nd, Champs Pegasus, 12th of 14
@GBeret83 Believe me it was the worst field for a BC Turf ever too. I was at the BC in 2005 at Belmont. Thought that was a pretty good field. I'm going again this year - hope Workforce makes it along with So you think. Wonder what you guys will have for the race? Paddy O'Prado went from Derby to grass last year - wonder is there a similar story this year? Cannot wait for Belmont on Saturday and Royal Ascot next week - Goldikova v Canford Cliffs. Reappearance of Frankel too
@naashead, Paddy O' Prado won't be in the B.C. Turf this year. He just got retired a couple of weeks ago after he fractured a sesamoid bone when he won the G2 Dixie Stakes at Pimlico on his 2011 seasonal debut. I'm quite certain the race will be won by the Euro's again. Because America's turf horses aren't that strong. Might see Champs Pegasus again? Possibly Bourbon Bay? But their not good enough to beat the best Euro horses, IMO.
@naashead, Workforce would've decimated that field that ran in the 2010 B.C. Turf if he had ran in the race, IMO. A Derby, an Arc, and now a Brigadier Gerard Stakes as a four year old. Can any one tell me apart from Mill Reef what other horse has achieved this after winning a Derby? He is truly a remarkable horse. The Idiots who say it was a poor Derby. Look, if you break the track record it does not matter who was in behind. High class horses or Donkeys even. He made his own form stand up by winning the Arc beating some of theee best in Europe or was that a poor Arc LMAO Workforce Rules!!!
ryan moore is the best flat jockey bar none,,he is the most professnal out of them all and he is still only 26 27 28....i hate people who go on about his lack of interviews and all that bullsit..what does it matter as long as he rides the way he does..i also have to give a mention to his brother jamie who is far and away the best young jump jockey about no he is free from injury..only aiden coleman comes close in his age bracket..
@hescorescholes, totally agree. If had a major G1 stakes horse in Europe, I'd go looking for Ryan Moore first and foremost to ride it. If I couldn't get Ryan Moore? I think either Frankie Dettori or Olivier Peslier would be my next in line. JMO.
@hescorescholes i personally think dettori is more talented because moore makes tupid mistakes like getting himself trapped in on the rail and not looking around at the other runners but when he gets older and learns these things he will be the best
never mind that he broke the track record in the derby, that was mainly thanks to the pacemaker.
by arc time, rewilding had won the voltigeur, franking the epsom form a bit, as you would read it in the post (first 3 names of the form piece) before presumably failing to stay in the leger.
on a line though rewilding>planteur who met early season in france, through to >behkabad who beat planteur twice, on that line, workforce was the best 3yo in the arc, on derby form.
its strange but thats how racing goes. you need other horses to have highlighted your form before you can win again yourself. believe me ive seen it dozens and dozens of times.
the ground was way too soft for cape blanco on sunday.
his one bad run this year prior to the arc, was in france on soft ground so he can be genuinely excused that run. the soft ground at longchamp made it a stamina test rather than a speed test.
if you put the 2 together again, on fast ground, cape blanco would beat workforce in my opinion. he's got more natural speed. workforce has more stamina.
you could also argue that holding workforce up, for a late run helped too. he was probably too handy at ascot and saw too much daylight too soon. came from the back when he won the derby too.
harbinger was the best horse of the season though. shame what happened with him.
All the IDIOTS who said the Derby was a poor race! where are they now? Just read some of the comments below! I was ridiculed when I said Workforce would win the Arc! People like HereWeGoAgain595 in particular made some lets just say crap comments and said I didnt know what I was talking about! I have been working with horses for over 25 years so I think I know what I am talking about LOL So please keep your stupid comments to your self, you just make yourself look like an idiot! NUF Said!
It had to be hard for Ryan Moore to give up the mount on a great older colt like Harbinger for the King George. Harbinger's done nothing at all wrong in 2010. He's gone out each and every time, been all business like, and just won. But Moore knows that even though Workforce may still be a little green. That Workforce is potentially the most explosive horse that will be in the King George field. I think Workforce certainly has the most as of yet untapped potential as any 3yr.old in racing. JMO.
Visually impressive, but the form and strength of this race is awful. He beat At First Sight, who was promptly beaten by Monterosso by about five lengths in a Group Two. And as someone else said, quite a few of these horses (Greyfriars, Ted Spread, Hot Prospect) will be running in handicaps by the end of this season rather than Group One races. I think Workforce's true level of ability can only be decided once he takes on the top four year olds like Fame&Glory. Or even Harbinger based on Ascot
Bet workforce and snow fairy, wish I had doubled!!! My dad also had antepost 25/1, a very impressive performance from a horse who is now rated higher than' see the stars' at this stage.
I'm not sure of the route that Sir Michael Stoute will take for the remainder of the season for Workforce? But I can tell you right now, living in the U.S., and living about 90 minutes away from Churchill Downs, that this colt became the overwhelming favorite to step into Conduit's shoes in the 2010 Breeders Cup Turf should Sir Michael Stoute send him to Louisville in November? That's for sure!!!
I thought this was a really impressive run. Course record insured by a wonderful ride on At First Sight who, for a brief moment, I thought might steal it. Question marks perhaps about the quality of this field, and the absence of the early favourite, but I'm sure this horse will win more.
@hem1934, agreed 100%. Seeing Workforce in his maiden race, and with this performance, and also ran a terrific 2nd in the Dante Stakes as well to have had problems with the bridle throughout the race, I have no doubt that Workforce will rack up some other Group 1 victories before the 2010 racing season ends. Workforce has got an incredible turn of foot. I can't see Cape Blanco or St Nicholas Abbey having beaten this colt today? IMO.
@GBeret83 Workforce for me doesnt have a great turn of foot when you think of New Approach and STS in recent years who had a better turn of foot, what he does have is he is a galloper who apears to gallop and stay well and in a fast run 1m4 he will take all the beating, as for SNA had the same horse from the RP trophy showed up and had trained on he would have slaughtered that field but wether we will see SNA at his best again is very doubtful
@MANUTD4LIFE171 if it wasn,t a turn of foot to open up six lengths in half a furlong to close down the leader then the rest of the field will be running in 0-75 handicaps for the rest of the season.it wasn,t even that good a ride by moore.the horse will prove to be the best we,ve seen at 12 furlongs since dalakhani and before that generous.

the only horse to have beaten workforce prior to the king george, was running in the king george.
the derby form at that time had taken a few knocks with at first sight running unplaced afterwards, and no horse had franked the form either.
harbinger had won the hardwicke over cd with barshiba, saint frontiers and redwood franking that form in their next start (prior to the kg)
thats why workforce didnt win the kg.
he didnt have the form in the book. harbinger did.
