  • This is really useful. And frivolitom definitely seems extremely eccentric on a Einstein-genius level. xD

  • When i make videos in English ore Danish,my videos are short.

My videos in Swedish are longer ,i guess because i use to make them when i am angry.

my entertaining videos are global and my angry videos are Swedish.

  • Thanks Tom. One of these days when I finally get a camera I'll have to revisit this vid. :)

  • I agree, you're the bisst.

I'm sure you know what you are doing. You look as though you know what you're talking about & Im guessing such a confident approach also helps to produce a winning vid.

So, no impromptu monologues while pulling on your pants in the morning, planting your tongue in a mate's gob, or cut-aways to nude jelly wrestling? Woops was I getting a bit tangential there?

Perhaps your next video should be on how to make good comments on YT vids while not being a boring non entity.

  • unckle tom i love your mouth hat! i would say your under rated butt i would rate you very high

  • The first thing that came to my mind was: notepad is the best thing ever. (And in paper its a popular gadget).

The second thing was: According to Lee Presson in this video (v=8dtaatWwMic) the use of jumpcuts allows you to film 'all kinds of crap' then you just fix it in post.

Or didnt this come to my mind at all, and is it but a mere reproduction of thougts that are allready outthere?

The third was: nah, my Comment is overrehearsed, and totaly unnecessary.

  • Frivolitom, with your comments you literally tore my joke, three sequencing responses, apart.

With my comments i tried to refer to statements you made in your video.

Ok I agree, I failed, the references are to vague. I should stick to mail.

However you are right as always: Not rehearsed, just scripted!

To make the things I last scripted ehh i mean scribed into a rehearsal i will repeat and inprove (hope so).

ps. I noticed at 0.55 you coudn't supress your smile for 2 whole seconds.

  • The third thing was: nah, this is rehearsed, and totaly Unessasary.

  • Yeah, you can, but if you care about your videos it's worth at least investigating what jumpcuts are, why they're usually frowned-upon, when they're considered acceptable, etc. I don't think it's enough to just say "well someone somewhere thinks this is okay so it's a mistake I don't need to correct".

  • The jumpcut being a mistake is acknowledged by mister Presson as he states:

'In a desperate attempt to up my view count, I resort to an overused cheap gimmick.'

I'm sure jou agree that jumpcuts are acceptable in his video about jumpcuts -> (v=ESW34JMMqXk)

In one of his following video's he did use jumpcuts again. A mistake indeed.

  • I think jumpcuts are acceptable if you know why you're using them, and certainly if you're talking about jumpcuts, that's a good reason to use them.

  • The first thing that came to my mind was: notepad is the best software thing ever. (And in paper its a popular gadget too).

  • I haven't watched the video yet, but those are bloody awesome glasses.

  • I'll save you some time, they're easily the best thing about the video. I mean, it's a good video, but they're GREAT glasses.

  • Tom, unfortunately I think you have described the exact reasons I don't make videos. Actually for everyone else it's probably fortunate. Damm...

  • Tom, have you read the book "Youtube: An Insider 's Guide how to climb the charts" by Alan "fallofautumndistro"? He explains the three principles of making a video just like you do. He also relies on writing a script so it can not be that wrong.

  • For real? That's pretty cool. If I had read a book, as opposed to spending a couple years working out these things for myself, maybe I would have broken the 300 mark by now...

  • You should spend some time reading it. The book also includes interviews with famous youtubers and how you can popularise your channel on other social networks.

  • Wats the deal with the rev ranchslider dude, seems like a bit of an old pedo?

Am I wrong in thinking so?

  • Seems like an accurate assessment to me. I've attracted a few of those of late. Must be my fresh-faced good looks.

  • Yeh maybe, those creeps are everywhere.

  • REV------------u are seriously SICK

  • i agree but i;ve seen worse :)

    ...sadly

  • will you go out with me ?

  • I'm not sure that I will.

  • Thanks Tom. Quite on point.

  • That was great!!!

Inspiring/ motivating stuff, really, i specially like the ending bit, were you say like" it's ok to do goofy shit" and "everyone is learning on youtube, not only to be vloggers but to be people as well"

anyway very cool video,,, i guess i'm still waiting for startrek technology where i can say: computer, edit second 14 and insert image 'A', add effect delta 4 to the image overlay--- that would be cool and easy.

ps. nice to see you around!!!

  • Peace from the great state of New York

  • Hey T from NZ,

Thanks for the "shout out"! Maybe if you sat lower then reading from your script wouldn't be that noticeable...lol. A lot of great and interesting things and you hardly went off track...I'll do a video soon but can't guarantee anything soon..did Joe give u any insightful info on doing a conference type of video?...you mentioned he had knowledge of that..keep up the great work..i had a vid but didn't like it so I canceled it..--take care chap and see you soon-

  • I thought if I was ever to be obviously reading from a script, it ought to be on the video where I tell people it's okay to read from a script.

  • As I watched the last few seconds ticking away I seriously thought "....he's surely not going to make it to the end of the sentence." But you did!

  • Hahaha I experienced the same thing when I saw the clock tick over to nine minutes 52 seconds :-)

  • An inspiring bit of information, I would make a video but I cringe at the sound of my own voice or image on camera. I guess I lack the self confidence to actually make a video of myself.

  • Normally 10 minute videos make me turn them off immediately, but for some reason I watched every second of this one.

Oh my god, you really must produce the best videos.

  • hmmm this video made me want to make my own i might make sum the next time my mum dad n sister r out

  • I hope you do! Post it as a reply, we can leverage off each others' Youtube might. Ha ha!

  • rofl

  • Nice video. And don´t worry about the troll, even the best households aquire vermin from time to time. Luckily the pest control measures to be taken are not so severe. Just don´t feed him and toss him a stone he can hide himself under.

  • He's right you know frivolitom

  • I've acquired a troll! Oh how Arrived I feel right now.

  • Unfortunately he's not a very selective troll, you are going to have to share him with several hundred other people, seemingly.

  • None of us should be deprived of his creopy old man riches.

  • you could have a great career in supermarket demonstration and tasting.
