  • A few years back I couldn't understand that the people are watching because of the high aesthetical and artistic beauty in good dancers. This was appreciated in the court, and taught to the nobles from childhood.

  • In the original opera LES INDES GALANTES

this music describes dances of savages of wild forest from Brazil !!!

Anyway magnificent music and movie scene.

  • @abelbeau99 That is exactly what I said in the discription, right? :)

I have seen Les Indes Galantes before here in the netherlands, it is really one of the best operas by Rameau, although I prefer Castor and Pollux.

  • @otacs2

I wanted to underline the funny difference : in the opera the music introduces savages indians while in the movie the heirs to the throne !

Anyway Rameau is GREAT may be understimated out of France.

many thanks for all music you present.

  • @abelbeau99 Haha, I didn't catch the irony, very sharp of you!

  • film orrendo

  • @royaltypr1 Perché? Il film fa Marie Antoinette popolare! Molto importante.

  • @otacs2 non mi piacciono i costumi e lei non ha la grazia dovuta,e poi tratta solo una parte della sua vita, per non citare riferimenti all'epoca moderna come le scarpe da ginnastica terrificante

  • I think Dust and Jason held too hard not to laugh.

    So did the audiance,

but Madame Du barry did smile

  • I loved Asia Argento in this

  • A pretty scene but the pretend dance is a travesty.

  • whats the name of the music??

  • @hubbapop1 Hi! The name of the music is added in the subscription. You can also find it on my channel

  • Quite ironic really, the fact that their children died one by one but also

never produced an heir to the throne.

  • @willkass well the eldest survived

  • A pitty they seem to dance something that isnt baroque dance at al...just walking and bending the knees a bit....it is so rare to fid anybody who REALLY knows baroque dance, instead of stupid clichee

  • @LutzDerLurch one of the beauties of this movie is that it isn't meant to be historically accurate. If you watch it carefully it is filled with loads of inconsistencies (even converse shoes for a split second!). If anything they specifically studied "Cliches" for this scene :)

  • @conceitedperson78 Problem with that is, that People just take for granted what the Film shows them, further rooting Clichees in their Minds. And the 18th Century is overloaded with Clichee already, unfortunately. And if you try to tell some People the Truth, they wont believe you, "'cause it said this/that in the Movie/on TV"

  • @LutzDerLurch well, people should not be trying to learn the fine details from films. It is, after all, art not necessarily word for words accounts.

  • @LutzDerLurch You're right indeed...baroque dance was very difficult, and only few people were able to dance (Marie Antoinette was considered very talented :D)!

  • This was one of my favorite parts of the movie (partly because they aren't dancing to the "modern" soundtrack the rest of the movie is set to). This menuet was also one of the earliest I learned to dance to, so... much love for Rameau. :)

  • Woah ! You did not have copyright problems ?

  • @EmperorMeowMeow I'm glad I don't have problems with that! Isn't it our right to enjoy beautiful scenes like this? Haha

  • @otacs2 Yeap . Thanks !

  • @otacs2 yes, you're right sir, the movies and scenes like that are created for the baroque style's enthusiasts, so WE should OWN the copyrights! haha

great video, thank you for that!
