  • No offense but it looks a lot like a goostree simplicity bit.

  • gota bitting question for ya. i gota horse that you cant take holt on at all, he wasnt like that, he usually breaks your hand just tryin to hold him. hes a standardbred, which is in my videos (cowboy jack) once u get him set at a gait he dont go faster he bucks when u ask him to go,

  • @MajiksGurl224 I really know nothing about those horses but if one want's to pitch when I ask them to move out I give um a good swat on the but to make them stride out...

  • @pdj47 they are very sweet animals, i can tale his mouth has been bothering him, so i got his teeth floated, usually they are really hard on the bit, and high strung, bit he has never offered to do any of what he is doin now. what kind of bit would u suggest for a soft mouth?

  • @MajiksGurl224 I think you ride those horses with some constant contact so this bit would be out but a ring snaffle with my nose piece & a running martingale would be what I would try..

  • @pdj47 okay ill try, what does the martingale do? ive never used one

  • @MajiksGurl224 Look at my starting colt video's, it is what I run the reins through to give a head set...

  • I like this video a lot more than the hobble breaking. :)

Your horse is gorgeous as well, and seems to be very well trained with that. :D

There is a few horses at my stable who could use that. XD

I also love how when you walk forward, your horse walks forward as well. :) Took me forever to train my horse how to do that. :)

    I give you credit.

  • LOL if hobble breaking was so mean he probably wouldn't like me much! Check him out in my getting colts ready to halter break video & see how far he come. Hey check out the rest of my videos, I think you will see horses that are gentle & have good sense, isn't that what horsemen are looking for?

  • I really like that bit - almost as much as your horse! What is the length of the shanks? Is there such a thing as a bit with the snaffle rings and the chain mouthpiece? I would be interested in buying one of your bits after my next paycheque (gotta pay for my horse to get trained first). If I had the money to buy your gelding I would save on the transportation cost because I would ride him home! Would take awhile but we could do it. lol

  • The shanks are just under 8 inches. I don't know of a chain mouth piece on a ring snaffle. To start them I just use a regular sweet iron mouth piece ring snaffle with my nose piece to start them & then just go to these...Bet ol XO would be pretty broke before ya got home!

  • @pdj47 I was just curious on the snaffle, as I ususally prefer to keep my horses in a snaffle their whole lives but some of them need a different bit and thought maybe a "chain snaffle" would do the trick.

  • These work great for me.

  • Coming along really well! I enjoy your videos.

  • Is that the colt from the video with the 4-5 babies earlier?

  • Yes, he was in the getting colts ready to halter break, ponying out of the truck & first couple rides video...He was kinda weird, st first he was hard to get your hands on but would follow you around anywhere. Now he comes when ya holler, has a nice way of going & just a nice 3yr old...Just a nice young horse & sure a pretty color. Around 15-2 though & not easy for an old man to get on though!

  • I wonder how much it would cost to ship that colt to Ontario :) Wish you were closer PD! Love the looks of that bit.

  • HA..Probably a lot..I used to buy all all of my colts from the MJ Ranch in Canada but the freight just got to high...I just love the bit's, finally found the perfect chain for the mouth pieces...

  • Love the video PD! Been wanting to see how the bit actually looks in the mouth. Might try that here when I get the other filly (not mine) I'm working with out of her snaffle this summer. And if I had the money for that colt of yours and the shipping to Kentucky, by god I'd snatch that colt up in an instant. Looks damn sensible and responsive, just like I like 'em.

  • I really like this colt & I just use that stuff that works on them.. If I don't believe in something I will never try to sell it...God I love the horse biz & meeting people from all over the world to get my equipment & selling horses all over the US. I really appreciate those that have faith in what I say....

  • I just love the bits & how they work. My 5yr old grand niece was just here riding her horse this evening. She was just using a snaffle & it was kinda screwing around & trying to eat grass & stuff so we put him in one of them, she had more control but it still was easy on the old horse...I like the bay roan, there are other videos on here on how he's came along..

  • Great video! You should do a bit series explaining different bits for different stages of training. There are a lot of bits that Ive never used but would love to hear about.

  • .Seriously I just use my ring snaffle & nose piece & then go to the chain gag & that's just what they stay in the rest of their lives. There are no "magic" bit's, I just use what has worked for me for the last 50 years..
