  • What a GIGANTIC slap in the face it is to be taken in by someone, shown hospitality as an honored guest, and then have them claim you kidnapped them!

  • When I read the book Three Cups Of Tea. I knew right off the bat that the most inspiring and dramatic stories in the book were lies. I watched 60 minutes and now I know him as a complete fraud. Yes, he helped some of the children in Pakistan and Afghanistan, but a huge chunk of money he gets goes towards his career and not even half of the money goes towards building the schools.

    Mortenson is a fraud.

  • mortenson is a fraud

  • Coming from a Pakistani, I think that what he experienced it the village is quite accurate. In America, stuff like that doesn't happen, that's why you people say no. Expand your experiences, people!

  • Greg's whole story seems unbelievable... too unbelievable. He's done good things, but putting fake pictures and stories in his books? What an untrustworthy person.

I also just can't believe that some of those stories are true; some seem like absolute fiction! If you look at the interviews and the raw evidence, you might find that most people from Korphe and his traveling partners disagree with what Greg wrote in his book.

  • GREG MORTENSON BELONGS IN JAIL!!!!! WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND JUSTICE!!!

  • you know greg is a liar right???

    HE FAKE

  • @1983BOWTIEBEATER Indeed, he is a dirty rat.

  • Simply outrageous. A 60 Minutes exposé has just exposed Mortenson as a complete fraud.

  • @AtlasObjectivist Not a *complete* fraud - one of the guys interviewed even said that Mortenson was "not Madoff" and that Mortenson did some good things - But the 60 Minutes asserts that the bookkeeping is very bad and that Mortenson embellished the story of his book - two different components to attack his credibility as an honest NGO head

  • FRAUD!

  • “The first time you share tea with a Balti, you are a stranger. The second time you take tea, you are an honored guest. The third time you share a cup of tea, you become family, and for our family, we are prepared to do anything, even die.” Haji Ali.

  • Fuckin white bitch interrupted the Hindu guy.

  • what a great man- he inspires people to make a change in the world. If only more people were as compassionate and understanding as this man, the world would be a better place.

  • CCTV(1) cameras(2) captured(3) his(4) journey(5) as(6) he(7) got(8) off(9) the(10) bus(11) at(12) 9:04 (THIRTEEN)

  • as a high school educated American it dissapoints me to see the comments critical of the writing in this book... It wont surprise me one bit when our ignorance cause our extinction. open your ears and shut your mouth America,

  • @xnodroggerx: Well said! People like warlords and foreign governments, all over the planet have started listening to Greg, yet people complain about how the book is written, amazing!

  • He is coming to my school and a girl is singing Three Cups of Tea to him. It's a song version now. But sadly he had inflammation of the tissues around his heart.

  • @windsurfer525

Okay, but is that what this is really about? Try and see the forest through the trees man.

  • what, I'm not allowed to say that the writing sucked?

  • You can say whatever you like friend. (And I wasn't blown away by the writing either.) But we have a choice on what we give to this world. This story is a fine example of that. So I ask you windsurfer... how did this story inspire you to be a better person?

  • NO, YOU ARE NOT!!!

  • im reding the book rite now at school

  • YA me 2!! In my service learning class

  • Having travelled in Pakistan and to the Northern Tribal areas, Greg's book was particularly poignant. I think he is a future Nobel Prize for Peace recepient though just now I am delighted President Obama is this year's winner.

  • the book should have been 30 pages

  • such a great book

  • omg me too. I can't finish it. I can't find any summaries, PLEASE HELP

  • This book is just so beautiful

  • I just finished his book. What an incredible person.

  • Greg Mortenson's the man.

  • Sorry about the language btw, the Taliban make me mad. :(

  • We can't let the F****** Taliban take over. !!

  • the taliban killed so many pple in my kntry

  • Great book. I read it, and I thought, why is the majority silent. It's true what they say, one person can change the world. Wake up Pakistani's!

  • i just read this book tis so great!

  • i want to be like this guy and help people like him

  • We're reading this for our book club, and it is a wonderful story, but I was sincerely confused when they said that he and Tara were married six days later, when the dates were messed up.

  • The book is very hard to get through. I'm reading it for my book discussion group and while the story is very inspiring, it is poorly written. Mortenson should have written it himself instead of getting this doofus to do it.

  • Yeah I agree the writing is somewhat all over the place but still an inspiring story.

  • I agree. It felt scattered at times and like I was reading one long interview. I would of rather read it more like a story. But the writing's decent enough. But it would of been SO much better frim his point.

  • "would HAVE" not would OF aaaaaaaa

  • Hey! I actually READ Three cups of tea, and i'm 9 years old!

  • thanks for your good hearth i am muslim and proud of it but now i have a son that was born in state and now i am more to be proud of leaving in country like this one and to hear about people like Mr Mortenson and hopefully american will forget about ben laden and him harming the image of islam.thanks again and god bless america.

  • saw writer and his daughter on today show this am...

what a blessing/gift 2 our world they are

    ***

    love

    trio

  • I read this book 3 cups of tea. Very nice and well constructed book. He is a true legend and my hero. May Allah bless him. We Pakistanis need these kind of people.

  • Greg Mortenson came to my school & said "In pakistan, the kids took off their shoes to be polite." & He let us take off our shoes,He is really inspiring,so is his daughter.

  • haha im reading ti for school

i think its pretty good tho

  • I'm guessing that's because you're a intellectually bankrupt and selfish American who hasn't traveled much further than your local shopping mall. Perhaps someone should send you to Pakistan. Maybe you'd learn some respect, and perhaps you could even pick up some lessons in English grammar and spelling from a CAI graduate!

  • You do realize that human beings are entitled to their own opinions, right?

The message of the book is inspiring, one of the most inspiring messages I've ever come across. I really admire Greg Mortenson; in my eyes he is a true hero, and his story is one that everyone should know about. Unfortunately I also find that the book itself does a bad job of telling this deserving story -- the writing is very poor. For me it really does drag on and on forever, to my disappointment.

    Just my two cents.

  • Really? I'm surprised, I found it so fascinating. I found reading about this other culture through the eyes of someone who wants to better the lives of children so inspiring and humbling as well.

  • I found that the story is excellent, but the book was poorly written. It's like he couldn't decide if he wanted it to be like a newspaper article or a novel.

  • Fair enough.

  • i totally agree. great story, but i kept thinking, "who edited this book??"

  • Diva, yeah it isn't the easiest book to read. But if you can see the value in seeing the over all message I think you might find some inspiration. If anything maybe it will motivate you to be a better writer! :D

  • "Other people's cultures are not failed attempts at your own."

  • my herooooooooo

  • Good video! Good people!

  • Wouldn't it be nice if more people in Washington DC would follow by Greg Mortensen's example?

  • @Masteroftrancegirl no because hes a recently discovered fraud!

  • @Masteroftrancegirl when are they putting greg's lierson's ass in jail? !!!! robbing even little kids from their savings, manipulating the masses with fairy tales...oh don't worry MANY people in washington dc follow his example, they are call POLITICIANS....
