  • Well basically every song about moms will make me cry. So there.

  • Great song and the amazing Marc Ribot is on the guitar adding even more soul to it.

  • Mama. I really miss my Mama. She hasn't known me since 2002. she doesn't remember my name..............she doesn't know my kids. she doesn't know I have a really great husband now.

  • How the hell can someone dislike this? This is pure perfection!

  • bravissimi... non vedo l'ora di vederli a roma, ho le prevendite prese su listiket del concerto, non vedo l'ora sono davvero bravi

  • Incredible live version, just plain beautiful. It brings a tear to not only my eyes, but to my heart.

  • .... :(

    amazing song..

  • A sad, brilliant song.

  • This album is amazing. If anyone likes this song they should buy it. Its called Black Music by Chocolate Genius. Such a good album.

  • @BoognishWhoo Yes, everyone should try to find it. It's out of print now, but it's one incredibly powerful album. I can't love it enough. It's also so sad that artists as great as Marc Anthony Thompson/Chocolate Genius are barely known. I guess, it makes him that much more special.

  • This is a man speaking his soul. Better listen.

  • I'm probably not the first one to mention it, but if you look at him carefully after the first time he says "my mom", during the silence, a tear falls from his cheek. Must be painful to sing something like that. It's a beautiful, but terrible, terrible song.

  • Really love how much true emotion is in his performance and how its a real experience for him i cant belive this is so overlooked and it really touches your heart when you see the tear fall from his cheek

  • I can't believe I don't know this artist and didn't know this song!! This is one of the most moving, saddest songs I have ever heard. His delivery is full of emotion, with that raw voice, and the words are so genuine. The topic is something so many people will be able to relate to. There's so much pain in watching cognitive deterioration in a parent. This song nearly has me in tears.

  • 1:56 a tear drops. so beautiful

  • How in the heck is it that this song is not part of everyone's musical vernacular. It's a darned shame. Excellent, sad, and perfectly poignant piece of art.

  • @day333 I WAS THinking the same thing, This is the first time i've heard this song. I guess i have been living under a rock. I could have used this to help me through the death of my own mother....It's a gem.

  • First time I've heard this artist and song. This is amazing.

  • Masterpiece... Makes me appreciate moments with my mom...

  • This is one of those songs that everyone will agree is a timeless masterpiece but so few actually know Marc Thompson and his work, it is just such a shame. Superb live performance.

  • This is sad......

  • nice

  • 1,821 views... how?

  • Not sure how he saw into my life then, and now.

  • I'm a big guy, don't get too emotional. This is the only song I've ever heard that always brings me to tears.

  • awesome

  • anyone have a guitar tab for this?

  • This is a very sad song. I don't understand why it isn't one of the classics of today. It's a shame that this song is as overlooked as it is. Marc Anthony Thompson is an amazing artist.

  • Really sad :'(

  • 1:57 You can see a tear fall from his face. Heartbreaking.

  • @Paroxysm77 Sometimes I start crying before 1:57 But when I don't start before, I start when I see his tear falling.

  • @Paroxysm77

Might of been sweat... but still anyshots of him before that, he doesn't seem to be sweating.

  • @Paroxysm77 at 3:02 another falls.

  • His real name is Marc Anthony Thompson and he released two excellent albums under his given name - the self-titled "Marc Anthony Thompson" (on lp only) and "From Watts to Paris" (available on CD). The self-titled album is hard to find, but you can probably get "From Watt" for $2.88 used on Amazom.,com.

  • Most sad and beautiful song, the only one that makes me cry ;)

  • My can you say about a song like this? Is there any possible way a musician can be more honest and gripping? I remember when I first saw this show (first time I ever heard of Chocolate Genius) -- and was really young -- and I was like, "Who he hell is this guy? He's fantastic." I'd never heard anything like it. In other hands it could have been Hallmark-ish, but you feel the truth pouring out of the song. To this day I still find this track to be unreal. Incredibly gifted musician.

  • This has been one of my fav songs for a decade or so. But I have such a hard time listening to it.

  • chilling

  • Perfect song

  • Thank you for posting this! Ive been trying to find this since it was originally broadcast... like 11 years ago.

  • Well this song is a Jewel, probably one on those easily overlooked ones. One of the saddest songs I have ever heard.
