  • Can't believe this is the same guy with the pitchfork in The Crazies lol. As soon as the movie was over I googled it and couldn't believe it.

  • What??? No tenor sax?? Great nostalgia though.

  • dvd is a must

  • brings back memories

  • I love this song!!!!! and Larry is cute ;)

  • Bass Saxophone!

  • The lady with the red hair probably play sax in real life, I remember watchin this as a kid.

  • Man, I haven't seen/heard this song since 1988 and I remembered every word!

  • Larry Cedar played a prior of the ori in the last season of Stargate SG-1.

  • I had the biggest crush on Larry Cedar as a child. My love for him is returning as I watch this.

  • If I took a guess, I would that this is from season 2.

  • Besides Square one, I also remember seeing Larry Cedar in an episode of who's the boss where tony decides to attend an advertising class that Angela is teaching. I also remember seeing Mr. Cedar in a commercial for Taboo, the board game, which aired, I think sometime during the early or mid 90s.

  • I like his suit!! it's got 90's written all over it!!

  • @eclipspyd99 '80s... ;-)

  • looking for fraction rap would like it reposted :)

  • Personally, I would've LOVED to see Cynthia, Luisla, Beverly and Priscilla Lopez play the Saxophones

Cynthia playing the Tenor, Beverly the Alto, Luisla the Baritone and Priscilla the Bass Saxophone

But if you guys have anymore ideas, please let me know.

  • One of the reasons I started playing the sax in middle school!

  • How cool!

  • @sapphire8402 This show was one of the reasons I liked math.

  • Hey there, let me ask this and this is a fun question for all of you:

If there were Female Stars from Square One TV that ever played the Baritone Sax and the Bass Sax, who would they be out of Cynthia Darlow, Beverly Mickens, Luisla Leshin and Prescilla Lopez (who was on the NEW Square One TV when Pat Tuesday took over Mathnet for Kate Monday)?

Please share your thoughts on this.

  • I SO remember this!!! Ahh... to be three again... :-)

  • Is this the same guy as the angle dance?

  • Yes, it is.

  • This was an absolute FAVORITE show of mine as a child and to hear this brings back so many wonderful memories. My favorite show was Mathnet, I remember it came on, if my memory is right, on Fridays, it was always something I look forward too and even some of the songs, have stuck with me and have helped me with math

  • This better be out on DVD or still airing when I have kids!

  • I remember this from when I was a kid. Damn, it's a catchy song!!

  • Looking back at it now the songwriting and comedy writing was REALLY good. My mom enjoyed it so much, she watched it with me and my sister.

  • Thank you for posting this Square One TV music video, its awesome! I remember watching this one and a quite a few other music videos off this show when I was a kid. Seems this one has been stuck in my head for a long time.

  • This and Angle Dance will FOREVER be etched in my brain!! Thank you Square One TV :-)

  • I know I am repeating things, but I really loved this show growing up! I was in 4th grade watching this. Brought back memories, and I even remembered some of the words to the songs! Like The 9 Song, but my favorite part was the towards the end with Mathnet.

  • here here. mathnet rocked and was my favoite part as well along with mathman

  • I loved the show, the problem i had with Mathman was Glitch his voice was kind of scary.

  • I absolutely LOVED this show!! I learned so much watching it as a kid!

  • If you think about it, the physics of the material universe is based on mathematics, so math is pretty important.

  • not really. how does understanding math help my every day life?

it seems that everything f'd up in the world has something to do with math. bills, taxes, wars, atom bombs... who needs it?

  • Actually, you're right. I only meant that the principles behind gravity and things like that are based on math.

  • nice, a soprano, alto, bari, and base sax

  • LOL!! This is one the songs from Square One that has stuck with me.

  • I still can't believe that this show isn't out on DVD yet!!

  • I wish they would at least release the music videos. :)

  • @twiztedirish1978 Darn good idea, because, otherwise, then they wouldn't have all this legal red tape over copyright issues. I still don't mind watching this on YouTube, though. (Seeing this on DVD would be twice as nice, in fact, AWESOME) ;-)

  • Larry did a number of smaller role voices for cartoons like Batman The Animated Series and others like that.

  • Well here's something for all of you:

Reg. E. Cathy went on to do Movies and Television Appearances.

He did The Mask Starring Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz and th remake of the 70's Classic S.W.A.T. Starring Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrel, Michelle Rodriguez, LL Cool J and Oliver Martinez.

Reg. played the Lt. who is also one of Hondo's Close Friends.

  • He was also one of the hoods in THE MASK w/Jim Carrey

  • I most recently saw Larry Cedar in a tv ad for Jared's jewelery.

  • This show had really well thought out songs.

This guy has a good voice too. Check out The Mathematics of Love.

  • Wow, you can tell a lot of thought went into the artist name, song title, and album at the end! LOL

Give Larry his props already. So maybe Cynthia, Bev, Cris, and Reg weren't really playing sax but it was really Larry singing.

  • Exactly!

I mean, so far, I've haven't any facts about Cynthia, Beverly, Cris and Reg ever playing a Saxophone back in their days!

  • It's actually even rare to see artists actually singing and not just pre-recording and lip syncing these days. One piece of props to give PBS in the late 80's and early 90's: they were genuine.

  • At the end, Larry looks like he's getting flushed down the toilet. lol.

  • HAHHAA this show as awesome!

  • Ooh, nice high tenor ;)

  • Larry has a really good singing voice.

  • Does anybody have the "Percents" music video. That's the only one I haven't seen lately.

  • Nifty little camera trick, getting him to pirouette in and out of the frame. Wonder how they did that?

  • Mr. Cedar cracked me up then, and he cracks me up now. Whoo!

  • What's interesting, as well, is that three of these performers ended up on HBO, on programs that were...well, a little less than kid friendly. ;D Larry Cedar on "Deadwood," Reg E. Cathey on "Oz" and Cynthia Darlow on "The Sopranos." Long way from Square One TV!

    Still love this video.

  • That's a shame to hear about the actors..... very few actors today will stand for much of anything that's decent, family friendly, and positive

  • It is not a shame. Not all art is family-friendly, nor should it be.

  • okay but it seems now we only have two choices these days: horribly offensive or kitsch. Nothing like this.

  • I agree!

I mean look @ Bob Saget, he went from doing Full House to doing Stand-Up on HBO and I couldn't believe that he cusses!

Thank God I don't watch HBO, nor do I have HBO on my Digital Cable!

and also, Lori Loughlin is a TRUE Example that you can do Comedy, Dramas and others, but still maintain GOOD Family Values by not doing HBO and other nonsense!

  • I like this video, and I never thought that they weren't moving their fingers, and plus, I knew that Reg E. Cathy NEVER played a Saxophone, and that is also a Bass Saxophone.

I thought that Cynthia does play the Saxophone in real life, if she did, then I would've saw her and Luisla play the Saxophones, I mean they would've also been better @ playing the Bass Saxophone, too, Thanks for the Video, it brings back so many memories, and yes, Suqare One IS my favorite Math Show.

  • I haven't seen this video seen I was a kid! I'm so glad all these Square One TV clips are here! They takes me back. It was my favorite PBS show.

  • Yep, Square One was probably my favorite PBS show when I was knee-high to a sand mouse too. ^_^ I watched it more than Sesame Street because I love numbers and math to this day.

If I eve become a famous chef or TV star, I'll credit this awesome show to making me so smart in the math department. ;)

  • LOL, they're not even moving their fingers! XD

This was always my favorite song on Square 1, and it still sounds great 15 years later. thanks for posting!

  • You're welcome; no problem at all. I never thought about the fingers; good observation. :)

  • From left to right, those saxophone players are Cynthia Darlow, Beverly Mickins, Cristobal Franco and Reg E. Cathey. Now, I think Cynthia is playing a tenor sax, and Cristobal, a baritone sax. Not to sure as to what Beverly and Reg E. are playing, though.

  • I just checked Wikipedia for saxophones. I think Beverly is playing a mezzo-soprano sax, and Reg E., either a bass or contrabass sax.

  • Thanks for the info. :)

  • Is it just me or does it seem like Cynthia plays the sax in a lot of videos. This one, Round it Off, Burger Pattern, and Square Numbers come to mind. Also, Cris seems to be on the drums a lot.

  • I remember an interview (or an answer to someone's fan letter or something like that!) where Cris admitted that he tried to put dibs on the drums because that way he'd get to sit down. ;)

  • you can count on it.... anyone find infinity skit with the gang :)

  • YAY!

  • Agreed. :)

  • keep em comin.

post some mathnets too if u could PLEASE
