The jokes are the same practically word for word. The biggest difference is the Americans portrayal of emotion. They've got anger down right but not much else. Oh and Kelsey can't sing :p
@spamkam americans would have had some clue due to lee mack being in the american sketch show and also some of the same sketchs. but definetly agree british is much better hands down.
a) the british version was better as a whole but there were some sketches, such as the 'its full of drugs' sketch which the americans did better. and
b) some comments on here say the americans don't appreciate the british accents. but look at how popular the Nigel Wick (Craig Ferguson) character from the drew carey show became, and that was a faked english accent, and every viewer loved him
@Georgeous129 In regard to the Nigel Wick bit, Americans embrace fake English accents because that is their own staereotype of how the English speak, you surely can't believe that the way Nigel Wick speaks sounds anything like how the English speak, it wasn't even a good attempt at stereotype of an English acent, maybe that's hat he was going for. I don't know, but I'm presuming you're American. If so, search Steven Gerrard to find an English accent that you've probably never heard before.
its obvious that the sketch wanted to penetrate the american market so they transposed their ingenious scripts from the original british crew and had some american buffoons say it again in their own accents skits because american audiences wont embrace british accents, its still british humour at the end of the day. Am i wrong???

America unfortunately didn't embrace this show...it didn't last very long here. And I hate to say it but the execution of th sketches is much better in the American version
as neither american or britian, I think the british sketch show is much and much better. But it's still a matter of feeling though. Americans probably didn't know there was already a british one so it didn't feel like a rip off.
@mikeyvp I assume by execution of the sketches you mean they killed them...? (I know it was a while scince your post but I thought i'd put it anyway :D)
@mikeyvp Ehm, excuse me? Much better in the american version? Take the "learning english" sketch for instance.
The american version is butchered, SO hard. The british version is so funny, the only one who did it okay was the black dude, even Lee couldn't beat Tim Vine's portrayal in that one.
You got to be so unbelievably daft if you are not able to see that, that or biased.
I mean, I can watch the us version, but it's not funny, and is in no way better performed, NO way.
in my opinion(im australian) a british accent is funnier then an american accent(no offence). Especially those 5 british peeps they just talk so funny and look funny- the americans are embarrasing

@mikeyvp Completely wrong.... British version was done very well indeed, this version wasn't funny, and the execution on some scenes was dreadful.

not only do they sound funnier the humor is much more intellegent and witty.

That's why it failed in America, because only Brits find British humor funny.
