@Astoria0107 i agree that the PED's are safe and i think it gives the platform better air quality, not sure though, cause i think tunnels could be dusty.
@beyblader10171 They are there to control the doors and press ATO start when it's time to go. The Jubilee is being fitted with a modern version of the system at the moment, which is why there are so many closures. Thales has managed to shoot 6 months over schedule though.
Also t/ops are there for safety, for example if you get stopped in a tunnel, traction current is out, for evacuation etc
@CJ19Productions So....Tube drivers pretty much just sit on their arse all day and press a few buttons? I know there's the thing about having millions of lives in their hands. But minus that....thats all they do? Just push a button?
@drponyslayer They have a lot more to worry about than that. In the peak they can be responsible for 1000 people on a train! They need to know what to do when a fault arises (if there weren't t/ops in the cab on the Vic and Central there would be delays galore!), what to do in case of emergency, and sometimes, help evacuate a hell of a lot of people from a train in a tunnel! Currently only the Victoria and Central lines have automatic operation. The rest of the lines are manually driven, and....
@drponyslayer the Central can be too. It has ATP and ATO, meaning that it can be driven manually, which is done most Sundays on the open air sections, and does help when it's wet outside. On the Victoria the 67s (now being replaced) have a tendency to try and overshoot the stop marker. It isn't all that common and I've only seen it twice in the dozens of times I've been on the Victoria. Not that it's a safety issue though. All the t/op has to do is throw the brake into emergency making a....
@drponyslayer 'fart' sound as the train line air dumps. T/ops do not have an easy job to do on any line, and really do earn their pay when something goes wrong (and that isn't particularly rare)
The platform doors are actually part of a design to improve air flow; preventing accidents is just a fun added side-bonus. Unless they plan on doing major redevelopment to Green Park and all stations northbound, these improvements probably won't be seen across the rest.
Woah, nice train sound! It is similar to Singapore's SMRT Alstom C830, which is operating the Circle Line & SBS Transit's Alstom C751A which is operating the North East Line. Both trains are driver-less. These trains produce higher pitch than these London Tube's train. Please have a look on our Singapore trains by searching 'SBST C751A' or 'SMRT C830' at the YouTube's search box. Thanks!
A full service terminates at Stanmore, but it can also be shortened to Wembley Park or Willesden Green (or Canons Park in the peak hours). This train was only going to Wembley Park. The other terminus is Stratford (sometimes shortened to North Greenwhich in the peak hours)
haha, thats so weird cos im goin to london in nine weeks and i cant wait, but i came on here just to see the tube and hear the sound too like you lol. Thats london for u! get dead excited!

No, because these walls are ugly and people, at least in Warsaw do not take their own lives in the subway but it is England ...

Central line trains are the fastest in my opinion, its like as if the drivers are in a rush to get to the next station
beyblader10171 1 year ago
@beyblader10171 That's because the train operators aren't on the handle, the ATO system makes for a very uniform service that is very quick.

so wat do the train operators do??

that is true, they do sound rahter like 465's which most people don't like for many reasons!

Exactly the same traction package for strange political reasons. That is Gate Turn Off (GTO) drive with 3-Phase AC motors.
