I assume from the name that it's based off something by LL Cool J, but looking through his (long) lists of songs, nothing jumped out as a possible song this might be parodying.
Oh but they did revisit the same beat, I wouldn't say that all hip-hop sounds the same, but I will say, that it is a common practice to recycle some beats, as a form of tribute or flattery.
my teacher used to always make us watch these in 5th grade!

Anyone know what this song might be based on?

kvn8907 3 years ago
The song is based off of Kriss Kross' huge hit "Jump" it has the same beat, but the notes are different.
J222333 3 years ago
But they already did a parody of Jump. It was called "Rain" and is about the water cycle. I don't think they'd revisit the same song twice.
But then, all rap/hip hop sounds the same, so maybe it's a coincidence. ;-)

that song WAS a parody of Jump, but a diff't song, sung by someone else. I can't remember who it was, some Irish group.
