I love this song, the arrangement is perfectly balanced, and at 0:59 there is a backwards stocking (forever alone hahahaha) and we played this for our concert.
This song starts Christmas morning for my family every year. It's been a family tradition to play this song just before we start opening presents since my father was a kid. It just wouldn't be Christmas without this song.
This is literally the EXACT arrangement that my band is playing for our Christmas concert! YAY!!! I can actually hear it before we play in the concert!
@taytaybunni technically if you believe Jesus is the Son of God and therefore a part of the eternal Holy Trinity, then Jesus is an infinite amount of years old so no He will not be 2011 years old.
@JEHspock Of course, but with Christmas we also celebrate how he shared into our lowly humanity. As God, it is pontless to give him age and birthday. As man, for he was also man, we may dare give our most glorious Lord and Saviour such attributes.
I am going to put this up on my WeatherStar when I do my Local Forecast for the Weather Channer using the WeatherStar Emulator and putting it on our home's Closed Circut TV channel . Thanks for posting
finally get to play this right now were only playing it in 4/4 but i want to play it in cut time already! i don't care if clarinet part is hard mine is boring! i play alto clarinet so yeah.
This song is definitely a great song as I have listened to it ever since I was a kid. I like the song without the lyrics, but sometimes enjoy singing it too! :)
@packerfanman123 I sit right by the first chair person even though i play 3rd part because our band director has us set up funny, but I glance at her music, and was thinking thank the Lord Haliluja (sp?)
Oh the memories songs like this bring to mind. Don't know this particular Christmas, I've really been in to the music. One particular station here in Minneapolis plays nothing but Christmas music from December 1st til the end of the year. Really enjoying it. Happy holidays to all ...from Mpls Mn
This is my favorite version because it's got almost all of the instruments. It just needs the snare and bass drum. Or if they got it, it needs to be louder. But singing this song is really fun as well so I also enjoy the lyrics. But I don't like hearing them. Hah.
@SR71halo No kidding! This makes me want to go out the day before Christmas eve to go to shopping to get caught up in the craziness! I love this version!
clarinet part is a little wild..but it's getting easier. I love this song...wish we played it more than once every three years...i LOVE the part where it gets a jazz feel. that's my favorite part.
I'm playing this song this year. I have to play 2nd flute part 'cause I'm not good enough to play first. Maybe I should practice more. Maybe when I'm a junior or a senior I'll be better. Maybe when I'm a sophmore.
2nd flute is cool and as a freshman you have time to get better, but be sure to practice! playing first flute no matter how hard or easy the song always makes you feel BAMF.
Our wind ensemble plays this every year..... this is the first year i get to play it.... Clarinet part is quite scary.... just saying... I would hate to play first part lol
@keehret i love the clarinet part!! i used to play it in my orchestra every year and i loved it! i really miss being able to play with an orchestra now. im hoping to get to play a bit when i go back home from uni. Sefton Wind Orchestra RULES!!!
i am in band at my school (percussion-- mostly marimba, also Marching snare and marching cymbals) and i love playing this for our X-mas concert and X-mas parade every year
My family has played this song for Christmas Morning every year right when we come down to open our presents. although i am 20 years old, I still look forward to that moment every year. It will never get old.
