  • AW made ART into a celebrity interest, and vice-versa. Thanks to him, an Impressionist or Surrealist sells for $20million today. Before AW, what was the highest price paid for a Van Gogh or Manet in terms of today?

  • fucking hipsters

  • @011mtaylor there the originals so i dont think they fall in the category

  • No I have the small sketch of the Campbell's Soup can on the torn out bookpage I purchased from Paul Warhola ,Andy's elder brother...if you want it Bron please email me! Soo...as many peeps want it...

  • "Trite nonsense, boring etc." hahaha!

  • he is simply mimicking the surrealist movement in his persona - don't be fooled

  • Andy offends the satellite anatomy into the blown composite. Life welcomes Andy past the ruined gnome. Life begs this directed festival. Andy spaces life over the sliced logo. How will the granted purchase paint Andy ?

  • sbgog hikes a hilly hound. Round and round the prodigious foil. Toil and labor under the star of bethlehem. Said succinctly, go fuck yourself.

  • andy warhol was a coke head.

  • Not to mention that Andy had Asperger's.... which is a form of autism.

  • Andy Warhol, my hero.

  • Andy Warhol, the first hipster.

  • he wasnt hi or anything. its just his IQ of 89 at the boarder of being an retard at 80!

  • "I think anything that comes out of a camera is alright.." Andy loved anything and everything. He's even said himself that he loves boring things. Thats why you see his screenprints of campbells cans and bananas. Most people didn't get it but Andy just had to document everything he liked in some way, be it movies or prints.

  • they are all so fucking high

  • Hacks . ..

  • I always thought Andy Warhol took a page out of the Fluxus artists, especially the part where the people who view his work are the art. Play that banal video of him chomping down on that Burger King burger with others around you and watch the other people watching him. Their reactions are the art. No. Don't do that. Here in 2011, they may all be ZOMBIES, watching Dancing With The Stars, with that zonked out look on their faces...

  • I can't believe how many Arizona RX's I shotgunned in Union Square without a clue that I was right in front of the (former) Factory!

  • i do the same with stickers hahahah

  • He was a genius who perfectly knew what happened in that age. In his arwork he cached 3 right about that time about the consummation and do on.

Someone, who'd say, that he is a freak - sorry but you are really superficial idiot.

  • what a bunch of fucking mugs who ever thought andy warhol was cool is a gay ass mother fucker

  • Paul Mccartney makes underground movies. Are they..ughh.. Psychedelic? Well, does he call them psychedelic? No, he calls them home movies. "

  • @ClearKissesx333 wow i think i have that and i have been on meds that could cause this.I have been trying to find out what this is for a very long time i hope there is a test for this.Ozzy has it too.

  • @1:57 haha, fuckin hilarious

  • I don't like politics / I don't like communists / I don't like games and fun / I don't like anyone / And I'm against it / I don't like Jesus freaks / I don't like circus geeks / I don't like summer and spring / I don't like anything / I don't like sex and drugs / I don't like waterbugs / I don't care about poverty / All I care about is me / I don't like playing ping pong / I don't like the Viet Cong / I don't like Burger King / I don't like anything

ANDY LIKED ALL OF THOSE THINGS.

  • @MrBuk86 Ramones!!

  • He would only take speed while he fed his crew any drug they wanted while he made them make his art for him, basically.

One of "friends" killed himself and all he could say was ... I wish we could have filmed it.... what? really?

  • well when he died his art was worth way more. Why must you die for art to be worth more? The cambells soup painting i saw at allbright knox in buffalo was sold for 100$ is worth 50,000,000.So i guess you people who all talk shit on here dont appreciate art do you?Lets see you do any great art. Then talk shit.

  • @LetArtsLiveT

his means that your coment will sound smart for about 90 years from now!

  • @Dachaification ha if there is a you tube

  • He's twitching like a crack head.

  • He is so coked out.

  • There all fucking trippin :)

  • Interesting. I like that he can still piss off the douchebags, and of course there are more douchebags today than ever before, if only due to population expansion and percentages.

  • Why does his head twitch like that?

  • They are definantly on the way up or the way down from some type of high!

  • @macrent2 so what?

  • They looked flakey and gacked out. Man I want to learn all I can about the fifties, sixties and seventies! :) yes yes

  • Plots Cemetery Plots

  • one of dumbest people i have never met. My God, terminally boring!

  • Heres the name of the Andy Warhol factory member that is not credited. SUPERDUDE

Superdude is still alive and playing music at nearly 70. He is the person standing right behind Andy in the photo on sonicbids.

It would be nice for him to get some recognition.

    Youtube channel: jp1234productions

    sonicbids url: Superdude

  • Which is not a corpse now...? Despite his weird personality..Warhol was a genius...and Nico had a tremendous voice...

  • this is amazing if you watch a lou reed interview he responds the exact same way, same hilarious answers makes the intervviewer looks stupid. I spotted nico back their

  • funny :)

  • Every once in a while, a complete lunatic accidentally gets publicity and somehow get's labeled a genius. There are literally thousands of people just like this guy wondering the streets talking to themselves while asking for spare change.

  • Taking drugs, wearing black, and being in the same room with Nico is cool. It would be hard for me to say anything bad about this. This is great.

  • andy is so hot.

  • It's not hard to see why so many people think Warhol was a pretentious dick. But they're wrong - he was a great comedian. He just had an unusual sense of humour. Everything he did was funny and entertaining, or else it was so unfunny and so unentertaining that it was hilarious and fascinating. The real pretentious dicks are the mugs who pay two million dollars for one of his paintings. The joke's on them.

  • @PereUbu72 well, seeing as how he invented the pretense, i don't see how he himself could have been pretentious.

  • @PereUbu72 how come the people who buy his paintings are pretentious dicks and why is it a joke? i dont mean any disrespect or trying to start an argument i'm just curious.

  • "conventional movies", "lots of plots" :D

  • That dude is doing some serious LSD haha! I think

Tinkerbell was buzzing past his head!

  • Andy Warhol really was an idiot.

  • Warhol is the epitome of cool. Next to Miles Davis.

  • IDOL

  • They seem like a group of pretentious, artistic, self-aware trendsetters who have nothing better to do then lounge around, be cool, and take drugs...god i really wanna be like them

  • @electrofreek303

You are the biggest ignorant asshole every to post anything on YouTube. You know absolutely nothing about them. Take a hike with others like you.

  • @electrofreek303 What are you, retarded?

  • @electrofreek303 our lives. or so we aspire.

  • spastic movements = good quality amphetamines

  • I Love him, :)

  • I have respect for him, but he's just acting too cool for school, which is annoying.

  • @dontxtalk andy is renowned for this; he wasn't actually being pretentious or 'too cool for school', his personality was just naturally very offbeat and introverted - he was often mistaken for being deliberately self important and aloof. he was actually bedridden and isolated for much of his childhood, and he cited this period as important for his personality development. interestingly chorea was a complication of his illnesses - side effects being severe twitching and pigment blotchiness.

  • @roysoutham hahahah Andy would've got off on your comment

  • @roysoutham ha

  • I don't think he's being 'pretentious' at all, he's just obliterating stupid, bland questions with sarcastic answers. I find it hilarious. Paul Morrissey is funny too, but he gives up the act by laughing so much. Andy manages to keep himself together.

  • Wow he's such a phony.

  • @Tvor1128 I think most people would assume so, or think that, but look at from a situational and time period perspective. Back then, no one thought that "design" for everything from tomato soup cans to band tour posters could be art... Now it's an entire artistic design field, sure he didn't do anything that could be compared to the "classics," but he still changed the perception or the way we think of art...

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying, think of it from another view point.

  • I think the head twitch is an affectation...to go along w/ the vagueness, the general "affliction" of being so out there, so cool you're an afflicted genius mystery. ...like, "gee whis...he's got st. vitas dance..."...then you see him later and he doesn't. typical artsy histrionics in this era, or I dare say, any era...goes w/ the territory...on the rock...w/ the other monkeys. it worked for some. it worked for andy.

  • @newnewly Um, no. He actually had chorea. Look it up, involuntary twitching, etc.

  • @BirdieHarrison ....bad skin and a weak chin... ...if he hadn't'a got shot he'd'a still got got...I reckons.

  • @BirdieHarrison ...and bad skin and a weak chin..drella did has issues.

  • @newnewly ...and played it masterfully...quite the jokester, ultimate artist.

  • He twitches his head from chorea. Not to look cool. Goodness gracious, silly folk... :P

  • That fact that he can make such simple things and tweak it a teensy bit, make us think it's genius, is the art itself.

  • he doesn't say one thing that proves he is intelligent, in this interview or any other, yet because art snob wannabees have continued the myth that he was a genius for pissing on copper and calling it art, you will have comments on his youtube videos for all times, saying how smart he was in the vid. he twitches his head trying to look cool just like thom yorke has fake verbal tics and makes clicking sounds while he talks. its pathetic what some people do to seem different.

  • He is so pretentious and try-hard enigmatic. And he succeeded with it. That's America.

  • why is he twitching his head?

  • "yes, lots of plots" HA!

  • i think that the 12th time i've played that in a row, they're all so freaking cool! even the interviewer

  • @knolraapj Paul Morrisey

  • I think thAt he was GAY..

  • Why is he portrayed as a flake in movies? I can't say I'm a huge Warhol fan or anything but...???

  • Trippin nice

  • God, I love Nico's voice. Just listening to her speak one sentence, I love it. And Paul Morrisey was kind of hot.

  • You know you're a baddass when you don't need drugs to be a baddass.

  • @PedroNicanoreTV Andy Warhol was a heroin addict

  • @kristolio1 damn, are you sure about that? I heard the dude did stuff around the Factory, but I never heard that he was addicted to anything strong. If he would of been addicted to Heroin, I don't think he would of lived too long, he would of died young like Jean-Michel Basquiat... I would like to know if you can prove me wrogn, please.

  • @PedroNicanoreTV

Ive heard he did heroin but maybe i was wrong here's an article about him doing coke tho(which I consider a "hard" drug):

  • @PedroNicanoreTV for some reason it wont let me post the link but, go to google and type in " andy warhol drugs" and its the second link down titled " Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall and Andy Warhol Take Drugs"

  • TENWHOWERETAKEN Fuck you.this is the greatest arrest of all time. By the way, he can't be ripping of gaga, he's dead, so show some respect for the dead.

  • @RnDnproductions the greatest artist of all time? Whoa man, bold statement. Maybe one of the most influential and important artist of MODERN art, but greatest of all time? Matter of Opinion I suppose.

  • @Rowlannnn21 i know it's an opinion, but to me, my opinions are facts (just kidding so shut the fuck up).

  • @RnDnproductions way to be an asshole.

  • @Rowlannnn21 sorry, sorry. i just think he's the best (he's my favorit anyway).

  • Who is this man? He looks like he's trying to rip off Lady GaGa or something!

    What a weirdo!!

  • @TenWhoWereTaken Swine.

  • @jcpelly lol

  • @TenWhoWereTaken

Dear commentor...Lady GaGa was a FAN of Andy Warhol...she is the one riping off the REAL artists....she knows the formula they used to get famous.....

    Think before you comment....

  • @Telektroscope U MAD?

  • @TenWhoWereTaken No, you're ignorant.

  • @Telektroscope haha you dont "rip off" fame - it doesnt BELONG to anybody.

its there for anyone to take, if you can figure it out.

  • @TenWhoWereTaken Dear god, you're a smart one aren't you?

  • i just sampled this for a dubhouse track

  • What a freak. Is he stoned? I don't get why this pompous numbnuts ever became famous, even for 15 minutes. A worthless lot of rubbish.

  • @WarEagle8055 The funny thing is, Andy Warhol himself would probably agree with you, although I don't. It helps to have a sense of humour & irony.

  • @WarEagle8055

Every civilisation needs there heroes...usualy being the alienated....

  • andy was such a jerqu

  • nico is so damn pretty!!

  • nico is in the back :)

  • cool guys

  • As the French auteur Godard has stated, many American filmmakers rhyme information and repression, with trash and culture. Warhol was one of those directors. While his screen tests and maybe a handful of his silkscreens and films are intriguing, the majority of his work is self indulgent.

  • i just read the book "Pop" about andy warhol and in it, the book describes how andy had trouble because he always thought he was ugly, i've always thought andy warhol was such a handsome man, not conventional looks, but beautiful looks

  • @CamilleBowie1970 i think that andy was good looking in the 60s but after the assasination attempt, his health and aspect started to have serious problems

  • anyone tried getting a contact high off this video ?

  • @cinematicfanatic Regarding the artist/rock star analogy, I see what your saying about not wanting to appear as a celebrity. But there's also something disingenuous about an artist who articulates, somehow, that he/she doesn't want recognition; grovelling in the 'don't look at me, I'm an artist' headspace. Warhol went through years of corporate design and low paying exhibitions before he found his voice. When he did he was more than ready. Artists can feel proud too.

  • @cinematicfanatic It's certainly true that he loved the limelight, and he eventually tried to live his entire life that way and it destroyed him. But imo there are obvious themes to his work: Celebrity, Consumerism, Advertising and Mass Production. "In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes." A prescient comment if ever there was one. Such is celebrity for the sake of celebrity. It is as ugly and vacuous as a Bacon painting is dark and terrifying (speaking of the pope portraits.)

  • @cinematicfanatic how is he posing as an artist

  • @cinematicfanatic But 'celebrity' is one of the main themes of Andy's work - it's necessarily self indulgent.

  • pretentious twats...

  • @kenrben you have zero compassion. That is sad.

  • @relaxingmusic101 Compassion..? As in emotional understanding..? Okay...

Or are you saying that I don't "Get It"?If that's the case then ha your right, I guess I'm just an non-evolved bourgeois drone..Warhol was clever in his commentary on consumerism and mass influence of media. I acknowledge his place in the pantheon of great artists, hes an "icon" or a brand name rather ha...But yeah this video sickens me..Pretentious Twats..The whole lot of em'..

  • @kenrben They have a lot of problems but I recognize they are people and don't hate them. I also happen to like Velvet Underground and Nico's music a lot.

  • @relaxingmusic101 Hate is a strong word, I don't hate anyone :) i'm acutely irritated by some people though, I hope you realize the behavior their exhibiting here is just that, an art exhibit if you see them as troubled in this vid.. I'm sympathetic to their real life problems though, There was some sordid shit going on to be sure, Nico was nuts...I just think the whole Factory philosophy and "scene" is rather exclusive and pretentious.. I fucking love Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground though!

  • i love how vague he is and the fact he gives absolutely nothing away

  • Andy Warhol was a fortunate individual who was in the right place at the right time. Can you possibly imagine his art to be orgiinal? I imagine he used ideas from others and presented them in a way that was just tinged enough for mass appeal. The mystery of his character remains a facade used to project the faux-importance of his art. Again, Andy Warhol just got lucky. The true artists, as always, remain in the gutter and unappreciated. Warhol IS vanity.

  • @raarset1 "Can you possibly imagine his art to be orgiinal"

Well when you think about their is no such thing as originality.

"The mystery of his character remains a facade used to project the faux-importance of his art."

He was probably naturally like that because he was insecure about being gay, but he never chose to act out on it because he was very religious (he died a virgin). Whether or not he was a true artist is just an opinion

  • yes LSD was involved in filming this, except that andy never used drugs and sombody put acid in the eggs that ate for breakfast and everybody got high.

  • LSD was involved in the filming of this!

  • my word, Nico's voice is like the darkest honey.. "Does he call them psychadelic?"

"No, ..he calls them home movies.." -lol. Brilliant.

  • you guys are so stupid...Andy Warhol is the biggest douche ever....He sacrificed innocent people for his own "Fame". Not to mention, his films are ssssssssssoooooo lame. The most self-indulgent prick of his era.

  • @karaasrnka Sacrificed innocent people? What in holy hell are you talking about?

  • @xXPinkGoddessXx yea like basquait for one

  • hes gotta be on LSD lol cool dude

  • Comment removed

  • Ill go out on a limb and say they are on acid

  • anyone else wouldkill for those sunglasses?!

  • @vincegaga someone tryed but failed

  • @vincegaga

yea, i wan't them to exist, theyre havin a tweakin good time

  • Nico. "Bowtie Movies"

  • is this real?

  • they look like they're tripping

  • I can tell by the comments here that a lot of people don't 'get' the genius of Andy Warhol. But then ...I'm sorta glad it's that way, it makes it all the more special for the people who do.

  • @rayholtz that special feeling comes at the expense of an entire culture

  • @Nmbrz No, it comes as a result of the genius of Andy Warhol and the contrast between people who do get it and people who don't get it. How could something be 'special to you' if it weren't for it 'not being special to others'? Day and night contrast one another, they aren't at the 'expense' of one another. That special feeling isn't the end of the world or anything...I think you may be taking my comment a bit too seriously.

  • @rayholtz P-R-E-T-E-N-T-I-O-U-S Do you get that?

  • @kenrben Y-O-U S-T-I-L-L D-O-N-T G-E-T I-T

  • i concur he was a little annoying bastard that finally got shot. he got what was coming to him he messed over peeps and f with the wrong one.

  • he likes to say something good about everyone. but he doesnt make a big effort being interviewed

  • omg if i was that jaked up id be jerkin like a idiot to!!

  • the velvet underground (LLLLLLL))))))))))

  • he is so spectacularly vague. And yet so amazingly intelligent at the same. It takes a genius to be able to say so little.

  • or a basic

  • @bonbon1995 or it takes a totally irritating annoying little man, who can't just give a proper answer and is wholeheartedly annoying.

  • @ bobbon1995

what are you talking about. he said himself that he only wanted to be an artist to be famous. And if you can show me that there is anything intelligent behind his work at all I will give you a cookie

  • @bonbon1995

No it doesn't. It just takes being obtuse and self-important.

  • Comment removed

  • @bonbon1995 or someone who doesn't talk much.....

  • @bonbon1995 If you think giving vague answers while being surrounded by groupies makes you a genius then you are an idiot. If this was anyone other that a dude that painted soup cans then this would be on fail blog.

  • what r they on???

  • "bowtie movies" love her voice :]

  • Is that Nico? She looks like her, and sounds like her too.

  • @bonbon1995 Only way to be sure is to taste her.

  • he has ticks

  • yeah I think that was a joke.
