people can say what they want about ronnie james dio, rob halford, bruce dickerson, robert plant, ozzy, james hetfield, ect...but ill always put GEOFF TATE as MY #1 vocalist
for some reason they used ray alder, love his stuff too. saw em at at a bar in the 80s. they amazed me , i talken about fates warning. i like ray alder i met him he s real laid back. .they opened for dream theatre and queensryche in tulsa ok. very cool showw. i love the ryche but dream theatre was awsome. what a show. danny hyde loves it.
@MrSomeonestolmyn...Midnight is dead they had his ceremony down at Siesta key in Sarasota a couple of month's ago.He had every bit as good a voice as Geoff but Queensryche is still great.
When I hear this I think of Midnight from Crimson Glory, to my ears his range was a notch better. But regardless I am always impressed with Dio's voice.
Geoff Tate is hands down one of the most talented singers ever. His vocal range is extremely impressive, along with the control he has over his voice. His voice sounds like a separate instrument on certain notes. Ridiculous! This song and Take Hold are my two favorites off of The Warning. Queensryche is one of the most amazing prog / hard rock bands ever!
Truly. He is one of the three great vocalists of metal, the others being Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford. There's no one else that can even compare (No, I don't think Michael Kiske is in their league).
This song was my favorite off the Warning. Very awesome. The mixing was great and the emotional rollercoaster was insane. Some day maybe I will meet you and we will walk the roads to madness.
Hahah I got a thumbs down for saying I wouldn't put Mistaine on any of my top lists.
Not that I give a damn about thumbs down, but to whoever did that: are you freaking serious? Hah, in a conversation about great vocalists like Tate, Dickinson, Kiske, Halford and others, there's a Mustaine lover.
And what about Eric Adams - Manowar - Operatically trained 8 octave voice if I remember correctly. Kings of metal. And best lyricist eva - "Manowar, manowar, living on the road. When we're in town, speakers explode." RESPECT!
"Manowar - born to live forverer more!" Double RESPECT!
"Fighting the world every single day, fighting the world for the right to play." - Give that man a pulitzer. Triple RESPECT!!!!
It's not how many notes you can hit but what can you make people feel. That's why singers like Luther Vandross and Mick Jagger are so great. They made not have/had 50 octave voices but they have great tones and feel!
I agree with you there are MANY vocalists which are simply overlooked, but on their own cause a beautiful emotion to spring within people and that's why at least in their circles they are so popular, and it should let us know to open our minds a bit and hear the emotion and not just the music..
I just love this song, its on my cd of operation livecrime as a live version. I'm curious thou, is this like a cover tune they did? It kind of has a style like Ronnie James Dio or Iron Maiden?
I'd have to go with Dickinson. He used his full, more booming voice. Tate just seemed to use a smaller part of his voice box and it pierces more than projects. I'd say he should be below 2 3 and 4.
Good list tho mate. Gotta love Helloween too. U know good shit.
Bruce uses a lot of Falsetto on the high notes, his falsettos are very powerfull they are very different from the usual falsettos like kind diamond and etc.But Geoff uses his full voice,i think he can go higher and lower than he does but he uses 4 octaves in full voice and i saw him live two times,he was fantastic
thanks bro,and i forget to put Ian Gillan on my list too hes fucking great !
i suppose those are your favorite metal singers but i would prefer to see more of tate's fotos here!thanks for posting anyway!i have this on vinyl and it's been a very long time since i last heard it!
I suppose if you don't like it then don't watch.Make your own video if you want all Geoff PHotos.Your favorite metal singers? Are you kidding? Those guys ARE some of the best metal singers.Period,dipsht.Listen to your record next time.Instead being a douchebag.

I can totally relate to these lyrics. Too much spiritual and occult awareness while living in this world is pain.

Eric Adams is one-of-a-kind. I loved Manowar in the 80s, but even saying "8 octaves" is just silly. One of the greatest Metal vocalists, regardless.
hectified 2 years ago 2
Indeed, it's in fact 4 octaves, which is none the less VERY impressive.
Oh and he is my favourite vocalist.

youre joking, right? eric is a good singer, but no way does he have an 8 octave voice. no one does. and those lyrics are pretty damn cheesy.
