I had him for speech and study hall. One day in study hall, I was filling out my application for South Dakota State University. He advised me that I ought to do it in crayon. He was always making fun of South Dakota...and now that I live here, I understand why. :) Megan Stenzel-Konz Class of 2002
Mr. Prust is the greatest ever! I'm sad that he retired. I left him with so many good memories, it's sad to think that he'll only be a substitute teacher now. Class of '08.
"Be quiet you rotten kids!...I mean that in a kind way."
Wow, I remember fainting in that class, but who saved the day? Mr. Prust, of course! Thanks for all the wonderful memories and great Blue Earth jokes!
Mr. Prust was one of my favorite teachers,he always was nice to talk to. He gives great advice! I was so scared to go to speech class, but he passed me with all A's. He's a very generous man. I was upset when I found out this was his last year. My mom had him when she was in high school! I hope he enjoys his retirement :) ... and eats everything with ketchup.
I'm Speechless. A great Tribute to a great man who has risen above many obstacles to remain the great and noble man that many students have come to know and love over his long career. I feel sorry for the students who won't get to know him.
What a great tribute to a great teacher. Jim, it looks like you left quite an impression on many of your former students, And thanks Mark, for mentioning another great teacher, my brother-in-law, Mel Evjen.

What an honor it was for me to have had Mr. Evjen and Mr. Prust as teachers.
No one mentioned anything about being taken out the hall and being "slammed" against the lockers when you misbehaved?
Thank you for all your hard work and dedication.

I'm really glad to see so many students from recent years commenting. Jim was a favorite of multiple generations, not just old 70's guys like us.

Mr. Prust was an awesome teacher. I loved his classic lines.
"Now...all the way from his desk..."
"Be prepared with your speech or some day when you lest expect it...fate will decide to call on you!"
"What did you have for dinner last night? Tuna...next time try threena"
"Frozen Pizza....try cooking it."
"Soup from a can...try it in a bowl"
"A hamberger on a Bun...try it in the bun."
"Hotdish...what was in that hot dish?"

Long live Jim Prust!
Asking to go to the bathroom & 45's must have been a different era - 1992-96 he was all about asking us what we had for dinner the night before.
Thank you for doing this tribute - if any teacher deserves it, it would be Mr. Prust.
We should start compiling all his sayings...
"Talk for 5 minutes"
"What did you have for supper last night?"
(don't you dare say a canned spaghetti sauce)
Long life Jim Prust!
