yer my dads been using spreadsheets for many many many years and when i told him we were doing about vlookup and hlookup's he was like "what the hell "hlookups"?"
and i was like.... yeeeer..?? horizontal lookup and vertical lookup
"OOOOOOH, i thought it was only vlookup standing for value lookup" lol
I have a test in a couple of hours on excel functions and this helped me. Thanks!

can you tell me what is wrong with this statement?
=HLOOKUP(Budget!L24+Goal!F7,Goal!C$14:Goal!G$15,15,TRUE)

I am not sure - it could be that you did not sort your work in ascending order first.
or perhaps you did not make your work absolute by pressing F4 when you wanted something to be absolute..
