  • A Mickey Newbury 'masterpiece' composition. Not only did Dawn Sears does the the most moving and emotionally evocative version of this beautiful ballad but she dedicated it to the 'memory' and musical beauty of John Hughey,my favorite pedal steel player. Thanks Dawn !

  • THE best version of THE prettiest song, I have ever heard. Mickey Newbury was at his best when he wrote this. Oh how this song would sound at Carnegie Hall.

  • now this real country music not that stuff what they call country music today i wish was played on the radio

  • OMG.....This is some of the best singing and playing I have ever heard in my life.....Every time I watch this video, it brings tears to my eyes.....God bless these ultra talented people who work by day in the studios of Nashville and play this music for nothing every Monday night and the "Station"....Honestly, if my health and wallet (living on SSA) would let me, I would drive to Nashville from Raleigh just to see and hear them in person.

  • Wow...what a great job!!

  • I am blown away by the voice of Dawn Sears.....the band are excellent too. Never heard of them before tonight, I just stumbled on this video and now I am going looking for all the others that they have on YouTube.

  • Doesn't get better, friends

  • I wish the older version was still available, but man. Awesome.

  • Wonder what those young tight asses think when they hear some one like Dawn sing? Do you think it ever crosses their minds that this is what country music is supposed to sound like?? Those brilliant "so called" producers and record company executives in Nashville have no clue what country music is. All they understand is money!! Mr Acuff is doing back flips in his grave as we speak.

  • Only one word: EXCELLENCE!

  • great song good singer and my long lost friend papa john

  • Not much point in anyone ever trying to sing this song ever again. It can't be topped ! Yes she does "OWN THIS SONG"..... period !!!

  • What a voice! Right up there with Patsy, in my humble opinion! :) (Not to mention one of the best bands you'll ever hear!)

  • @macintheus so true!

  • This is a musical version of a Mona Lisa painting!

  • I just sang this song tonight on karaoke. Willie Nelson's version is the only one available on karaoke. What a beautiful song!

  • It just does NOT get any better than this...........Period

  • A true classic lady with an exceptional voice at points she reminds me of another superb female Voice and Talent who happens to be Connie Smith.

  • I can't just listen to this one time......at least 3 times.it almost makes my heart explode!!!!!!! Anyone who has ever loved and lost (passed) knows what I am saying here........memories..memories....love, after 30 years, and this song brings you back every time I hear it!!!!!!!! Pearl

  • Dawn Sears has a beautiful voice..............would you sing with me.......lol. Wow and Carolyn Martin is tremendous in harmony.Awesome, thanks for posting,so sweet!

  • My oldest Brother moved to Nashville after his wife died (live closer to his two sons) and I would visit Bob twice yearly and he would take me and sister to The Station Inn and we were present when this was recorded. We lost Bob in March, he was a veteran of WW2 seeing much action in the Pacific (B17 gunner). This song is almost too much to bear. Thank's for posting

  • Two beautiful women,a great country band and a wonderful song make awesome music which hopefully never dies. Thanks for sharing this post with us.

  • @strawman8 well said! I live in trangie N.S.W and thanks to this site I have had replys from other people suggesting I listen to this. god only knows I hope I get to Nashville one day. this music seems to be gone forever on cmc and I wish there was something we could do about it.

  • This is some awesome singing and some of the best music you can ever hear. We use to sing this song some time ago. Really brings back some Sweet Memories.

  • Pure class, pure beauty, I struggled through my tears to see and click the 'replay' button. Thank you for the post

  • great

  • Y'know, I absolutely love this song, but does it have to be SO SLOW? Honestly, even the guitar player, at the end of the song, looks like he just woke up!

  • @doucetterpj Jeez.....don't mess with "absolute perfection".evidently, you don't feel this song.or you would know why it is done slow..........so it can creep into every corner of your heart!!!!!! "Momma" "Pearl"

  • thank you, all. so beautiful

  • painfully loud lead vocals

  • Real Deal Country.....

  • This is what it is all about and what I remember about Country music. Pure country and the stuff I played back in the day.

  • AWESOME

  • What country music should be all about..

  • So. This is Dawn Sears...

Well now I girl I ain't never heard of you till right now...here on YouTube. But I can tell ya this: Now what ya done....well, ya done good. Except for one tiny thing, ya went and got me all misty.

  • AMAZING! I love Dawn Sears. My dad got me hooked on her several years ago. It doesn't get any better than this.

  • AMAZING! My dad played steel for many years, and John Hughey was his favorite. He got me hooked on Dawn Sears when he bought her album "Nothin' But Good" Little Orphan Annie is an amazing song from that album.

  • That was so beautiful.

  • perfect country music mis you john

  • Wow.

  • Great beyond words, just beautiful !!

    Roy from Kettle Falls, WA.

  • lost for words what a fantastic performance gives ya goosebumps all over..Luv Caz

  • WOW !!! It doesn't get any better than this !!! I too don't have the words to express myself.

  • Country sung like it should be.

  • TAYLOR SWIFT MY ASS!! THIS IS SINGING...

  • @indianaboi219 Oh you are sooooooo right!!!!!!!!!!!! "Pearl"

  • @indianaboi219 Ha.you said it perfectly!!!!!!! T Swift wouldn't make a pimple on Dawns sweet little butt!!!!!!!!!!! "Pearl"

  • This is one of my favorite country song that I only play while thinking on one of my very very few sweet memories.Written by my friend the GREAT MICKEY NEWBERRY!! Sang BY DAWN SEARS with the Time Jumpers. The wonderful steel guitar solo is played by THE LEGENDARY JOHN HUGHY.Very very powerful song!!

  • Ah , shucks. I keep coming back to this one every couple months, trying to build up my 'life shield', but it still makes me cry.

  • Beautiful song... beautiful lyrics and beautiful playing/singing.

  • The absolute best there is. An incredible country talent.

  • She sounds almost like Connie Smith. Who is the steel guitar player?

  • @tnreb1977 I can hear Connie smith in there also ......the steel player is the late legendary John Hughey , nuf said, just listen to him playing "Look at us " here on you tube and if it dont bring you to tears .....search for Vince Gill singing it and hear the words , Its Mr Hughey playing on his record too.

  • She sounds almost like Connie Smith

  • The group and her voice hit me at a spiritual level where you open up.

It is so adicting that when I play this version of the song I can't stop playing it over and over again, and every time I play it.... a tear pops up.

    Bless you all....real sweet... memories

  • Out here in the Pacific Northwest, we're often last to get the latest info' on the truly great stars.......

Since hearing Dawn Sears and the entire band I simply can't get enough of it.

I just wish I had more info' on each of the truly great, great musicians.

    Where can I learn more?

  • @RayMontee Where can you learn more??? right here on U Tube

I'm also in the Pacific Northwest.

  • As good as it gets.

  • What a nice version...this is one of my favorites...thanks for such a great music....

  • WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY DAWN SEARS IS NOT ALREADY A HOUSEHOLD NAME? KENNY SEARS IS VERY WELL KNOWN AROUND THE

COLBERT ACHILLE,OK AREA,AND WE ARE VERY PROUD. U.Z.

  • Finally! I found real country music again! Real country women with talent, without the rock/pop!

  • Sitting here with tears flowing down my face..again. Dawn sings this song better than anyone i've ever heard! She makes the lyrics come alive. This song is especially meaningful to me because the love of my life passed away a few years ago after fighting valiantly for 35 years, the war wounds he received in Vietnam. This song brings comfort to me , but it also reminds me he's not with me anymore except in my "Sweet Memories"

  • As a steel player I'm always awed by John's intricate playing and the delicate touches he always placed in the songs he played. Aside from that, Dawn Sears and the entire rest of the group are the best I've ever heard. Country music, as it is today, needs to take a long, hard look at the talents and popularity of this group and get back to its ROOTS. There are very few country artists around today who can produce this kind of material and it's at the very heart of REAL country music.

  • I never heard of this group until tonight I seen them on Larrys sDiner on RFDTV

There are absolutely the sould of what REAL country should be.

Hey all of you new comers take a lession.

Thanks so much for posting this site to UTube

  • WOW!! This is how it's supposed to be! A perfect lesson on true country music. I am still reeling in my jaw off the floor....

  • pure perfection...

  • I love this group, I love this song and Ms. Sears has a truly amazing, beautiful and kind of haunting voice. Could sit and listen to her sing all day long. Let me add this the timejumpers are also an amazing talented group. I hope to hear more from them in the future. All I can add is WOW!!!

  • Zeer gevoelig..wauw..prachtig nummer!!!Bedankt!!!lfs Onky-Marionne Wheels :-))

  • I had the genuine pleasure of seeing the Time Jumpers just last night, what a great joy. If in Nashville make a special effort to go to The Station Inn on a Monday night and see this group. Carolyn Martin has left the group but this Dawn Sears is special.

  • Love the Singing and the Band isn't bad at All! Check me out at Dave Matheson, you might find something you like. Or you can plug in imaridgerunner and hear the Ashley boys version plus about 30+ others. Dave

  • Wonderful by all the performers!!

  • oh my gosh. overwhelming. just awesome!!!!!!! speechless!!!!

  • You might be able to do close to as good,, but,,, never do it better !

  • Dawn Sears is a completely gorgeous singer...& woman!

  • Yes a great voice and fiddle harmonies and fantasic steel guitar as always. Don't get any better then this.

  • The BEST ever. Dawn Sears has the best voice and John Hughey - well what can I say -brilliant!!

  • Please

  • What a voice.Just wonderful.Love these people. thanks . Ken . NW .England.

  • Country As Country Must Be,Great,SUPER

  • This is a lesson to would-be country singers in how to sing a ballad. Dawn Sears obviously has been blessed with a gift from God. She teaches us how to understate the powerful Mickey Newberry lyrics and only build the song when absolutely neccessary. What an all-around tour-de-force of playing and singing by the Time Jumpers as well.

The Kill Nashville Pop movement that Larry Shell and friends are promoting would do well to get this group on board.

  • @chuckieboy3 You are so right , this is a master class from everyone on stage and this lady is right up there with the handful of all time great vocalists in country music.

  • It's like a dose of medicine, prescribed by God, to help me through this day. I might have to take some every day....without complaint.

  • What wonderful lyrics! This has to be one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Dawn Sears, you are tops! I simply love the way everyone in the band supports her, because this is HER song!

  • Great song, great vocal, and the best steel guitarist ever. I cry each time I watch this....

  • This is my Favorite Video, and my Favorite Steel Player. What a talented group of people, There is no ONE Hero, Just a stage of Heros. This what Country Music is supose to sound like. Thanks for Sharing this Gem

  • WOW!

  • I want to be Dawn when I grow up :)

  • God dont we all!!!! I saw her on the opry singing this and i have been a fan since. I got to meet her one of the sweetest and most humble people in the world. LOVE HER!

  • Hu,Hu,Goood.

  • I give Down Sears 5stars on anything she sings.Art

  • Beautiful!

  • Ridicoulsly good

  • THE BEST 6 mins. ON THE INTERNET!

  • @fls53151 Agreed. Do The Time Jumpers still play in Nashville? When?

  • Every Monday evening at The Station Inn. Be aware. The Jumpers don't start until 9. I got there at 6:30 and there were already 50+ people in line. The place opens at 7 and if you're not there by 7:15, there's no way you're getting in. Vince Gill usually sits in as well. Well worth the wait.

  • "wandering from room to room, and turning on each light,' O where are lyrics as potent as these in any so-called song assaulting the the airwaves today? There are none. I don't need a library of music anymore---not after hearing this.

  • Great! 5 STARS!

  • I've been a Dawn Sears fan since she first time I saw her on the Ralph Emery show years ago. Saw her a time or two when she toured with Vince Gill and have all of her CD's. She puts all the female singers out there today to shame. They only wish they could sing like this lady!

  • THIS IS HOT my m y my my

  • all this needs is listening

  • Does anybody know who the two ladies are???

  • Dawn Sears is singing the lead vocal and Carolyn Martin is singing harmony vocals. Nominated for a Grammy last year.

  • @TheTimeJumpers YOU GUYS ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST. SHOULD BE WINNERS EVERY YEAR, DAWN YOU OWN EVERY SONG YOU SING! CAROLYN YOU ARE GREAT!THE WHOLE BAND IS AWESOME!

  • Fantastic this is ...i have no words beautyful ...great muscisians.. the late great steel player John Hughey in beloved memory ,the vocals is amazing as the rest of the band... it really touches my soul and heart.

  • This has to be the the most beautiful and romantic song I have ever heard ...sung and played with the most heartfelt voicing. What a band of angels we have here on Earth.

I cry as I write this.

Thank You for posting this~ Bravo!

    ~Elizabeth

  • Absolutely sublime.

    Heartbreakingly beautiful and haunting.

    Perfection.

  • I have never heard anything like this in all my years of life. This is the greatest song and group I ever heard.

  • I can't believe there's only 9K hits on this video!! Mebbe it's because I almost can't watch this without crying a bit, and, who wants to go there??!!

    Fantastic. Fantastic.

  • i saw this on RFD last night wow :>)

  • Lovely, lovely, lovely...

    RD

  • This song is so beautiful! Never heard of it until now. Glad I did!

  • Just Amazing!!!!!!! Beautiful

  • Micky Newberry couldn't ask for better for his song! Dawn is an inspiration!

  • Dawn is one of the most under rated female artist in Country Music. Her talent is not one that can be learned by vocal coaches, nor is the feeling that hits your heart with every word. She truely has a God Given Talent..... And uses it with such finess....

  • WOW ! This is what is called "chicken skin" music. So good the hairs on my arms stand up and salute. Great stuff.

  • If we graded country music on the curve with this rendition the standard, nothing else would ever be heard. The tripe of today should embarrass us. Dawn is as smooth as John, who's angelic. I've listened dozens of times-----or many more. And the others are not one wit behind.

  • Whew! Dawn...whew!!!

  • So many artists make you hear the song they are singing. Dawn Sears and the Time Jumpers make you feel the song they are singing. Amazing...I cry everytime.

  • Oh my goodness that is very emotional . BULKYELBOWS I agree with 100% no loud playing and no overplaying , kept simple and beautiful.

  • This video is a work of love, and supports the saying, "If you can't play well, play loud". No loud music here! Notice how each musician caresses his instrument - no framming and bamming needed! The violin players are as smooth as silk, as well as the old boy on guitar. I don't know his name. These are ordinary folks who simply love music. Papa John, rest his soul, was simply the best on the steel. None other like him! And Kenny looks as if he could eat his wife up at 4:45.

  • Its like God opened up the doors to heaven and let me stand outside the gates for a few minutes. I agree, this song belongs to Dawn Sears. Thanks.

  • If any of those "pop country FM divas" heard this, they'd probably hang it up for good. (eat your heart out, Shania & LeeAnn)

  • Is that Red Volkaert on guitar??

  • No, that is not Redd on guitar.

  • Yea, looks a tad like him, but I always see him with a Tele, not the Barney Kessel

  • You'll never hear this on FM--it's way too good!

  • Wonderful! Dawn Sears owns this song! Any other version cannot possibly compare with this!

  • Now this IS talent!!!!! Please excuse the extra Ex marks - I know its bad grammar! But how else can I express my feelings?

Sometimes - and so rarely - a band produces a sound that means a song will NEVER be bettered in its production and projection. I reckon this band have done it with this song!

Faults? - Its too short! :-)

RIP Mr Hughey - you were one of the best!

Thanks for sharing this masterpiece. :-)

One finall point - that drummer is superb! his brushwork is superb! :-)

  • Outstanding!!

  • This is the most beautiful version I ever heard of this song. 10 stars.//Phil

  • I think it's an amazing song, really does show alot of emotion <3. 5/5 Great song.

  • Just beautiful! Thanks Ageintrucker for sending this!5 Stars and I add it to my favories

  • Nice song. These guys are really good. Thanks for shareing this on you tube.

    CARL

  • What a beautiful sound*****S

  • That`s got to be one of the most beautiful songs i`ve heard, and iv`e heard a lot of songs....John Hughey`s playing is something else.....makes my spine tingle.

  • Dawn Sears. Whatt an angelic voice, and the late great John Hughey and all the Time Jumpers just put the icing on the cake.

  • You can't get no better than that!

  • Magic only happens once in a great while.

This was one of those times.

    Thanks

  • This is the sweetest sound that has ever came out of this You Tube Folks. I realize I've already favourited the other similar video you had posted about a year ago, but I will never tire of this song. Sometimes our hearts are suckers for sweet sentimental musical memories like this one. Thanks for posting it again xo
