the best plane and the americans are the best on landing i dont know why for that short fly atlanta GA to Detroit with 777-200 for this short flyith :D
@airbus320dfw I know they at least do Seoul... Im prety sure there are a few others too. I was just in DTW and they had more 777's than 747's parked at the gates.
That's one of the reasons I love flying Delta, and why they made such huge profits. They don't "waste" their aircraft. This -200LR flight probably took full advantage of that increased MTOW, and returned profits. It's also great that they use one widebody to serve high density and high frequency routes rather than sending a few regional jets, or outsourcing.
Cool I'm flying this from LAX-ATL soon I can't wait to feel the power of those huge engines. What kind do these use GE-90s or the RR series the 900 I believe I'm not sure. Great vid.
I don't know about basing them in DTW but they are sending them on routes to/from DTW. I think the summer '10 schedule Delta has the 777 on not only the PVG route but the new HKG and ICN routes from DTW.
yeah ICN was a given, but I nearly crapped my pants when I found out about DTW-HKG. Though it would make sense to have some 777s based here, and it's nice to see them in my hometown again. We just need KLM to come back with theirs and then I'll be happy.
@chiefnwa It may also be cheaper for them to fuel up the 777 in ATL and then send it to DTW instead of getting all the fuel in DTW if its based there.
@chiefnwa i think there is 1 or 2 777 based at dtw now which and 1 767 if i recall which means they have at least 1 of every wide body in there fleet based there
@TSBA92 i think there is 1 or 2 777 based at dtw now which and 1 767 if i recall which means they have at least 1 of every wide body in there fleet based there
Oh my god, they got a whole 777 loaded for such a short flight? I never knew that many people travel that route.

They are continuing to asia. Detroit is the main gateway for asia at narita airport. Most of the long distance aircraft for delta are based in dtw.

why are they using a 777 for that short of a flight?!
assasin9414 7 months ago
@assasin9414 Probably continuing on to Asia.

The commercial jet ever. Never a fatal crash. never will be either because is the Jackpot!!!

Thanks for the clarification why this aircraft was flying ATL to DTW.
Same crazy airline that uses an A-330-200 (ER) SLC to ATL everyday while using a crappy severely weight critical 767-300ER from SFO to NRT.
Don't tell Delta, but it is a fact that the A-330-200 was bought by NWA specifically for trans-Pacific routes. ( A-330-300 for trans-Atlantic)
Common sense out the window.

Yes, DTW is Delta's second largest hub and the main U.S. gateway to Asia.
