  • gods of rock&roll

  • This is from a Movie and sound-track called "Rock Pretty Baby".

Could somebody please post the rest of the songs? Pretty please??

I wish John Saxon did a better job faking on the guitar.

  • Heavens to Murgatroid! What a BLAST of a number! If these cats were any more cool, they'd be frozen! Strictly from wowsville, daddy-o! THANK YOU for posting it for us to enjoy; you've MADE my day & my weekend, fellow hep cat! :)

  • I bet Sal Mineo on the drums is the only one really playing haha

  • @ClassicsWEREandARE doing his gene krupa thing.....didn't even spot sal till you mentioned it ......john saxon on lead lol

  • @ClassicsWEREandARE ... Well 3 Years after this Film Sal Mineo Played "Gene Krupa" in Film of his life... "Gene Krupa Story"...1959.... So if he could not play he must have learnt well to pass it off ......... Cheers The UK TeddyBoy

  • Lite dynga......

  • The guys in the background with the striped suits are a band known as the Heartbeats with non other than Roy Buchanan on Guitar. I've been looking for this for years. Can anyone post the video of the Heartbeats playing in this movie???

  • After listening just again, it doesn't sound like Barney Kessell, granted that he did a lot of these kind of sessions (playing the parts for adolescent actors playing teenage rock musicians). Sounds like Mickey Baker. But who really is it, it don't knows for me. But he was a bad guitar player (in the good sense).

  • The theme song; "Rock Pretty Baby" is also hot! Hope Jive After Five posts this clip too.

  • Little did they know what road lay ahead!

  • i agree with Lester1Beck, this is so cool, john saxon on guitar, enter the dragon is a long way from here LOL, what a chillin song !!! way cool !!!

  • That's actor John Saxon faking on guitar

  • Comment removed

  • The bandname is "Jimmy Daley and the ding-A-lings". And the songname is" rockin the boogie"

  • That Is Not Sal Mineo.

  • Someone on different thread said guitarist is Barney Kessell. I was right, Barney knew what he was doing with a guitar.

  • No, this is not Barney Kessell.

  • Ok then, who is it?

    How you know isn't Barney?

Does sound rather like Mickey Baker, I think.

    I gotta know.

    The cat knows.

  • I don't for sure. But I have seen him in person and in many photos from that period and it sure doesn't look like him. I wish I knew who this is.

  • Cool Rock n Roll! Great Sax!

  • That guitar solo was crazy bad (in the good sense). Whoever did knew his way around his instrument.

  • jeezus fukin key-riest,

this is a headache in a can

  • Rod McKuen on bass, John Saxon on lead, Sal Mineo drums...From the teen flick 'Rock, Pretty Baby'-1956..Sequel was 'Summer Love'-1959.

  • these are great do you know who they are. neat guitar playing. any chance of reposting with the sound boosted ? thanks
