Love the LP Black Beauty. Loved your improvised version of 'Still Got the Blues'. As a fellow south paw I'm currently trying to play this in my own improvised style. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you. Thinking about it that's a silly comment you made actually. Can't ya see it's just a jam?! Playing something the way you hear it on the record has you coming second best to the original everytime. So ya might as well come second doing your own thing! Long live the improvisor.:-)
"I'll never get out of this musical rut, A mediocre guitarist, is that the best I can do" I admit, my music was boring, uninspired 98% of what I played was sux. Fortuitouly, I happened to befriend Susoni. He related some of his philosophies on music, the guitar, and how it works. (This is where it gets good) I listened, and learned. :-} He told me what I had to "BE", if I really wanted to play music. So I did, and I turned into a "dang Musician". I love it. Thx
It's got me , I can not leave the song alone, instead of weight lifting it's a guitar in my hands .
Mostly just fell into the middle parts of the songs. Working out the final section will never end. Pounding out some easy Am pentatonics in the final 50 measures or so .
One of those quantum leap things. Still working on scales, but dropped most other songs for now.Happy as can be .Pholtron
It is like you always say "Understand the song, instead of memmorising note by note.
He he! This will be cheesy advice but I have to say TRUST YOURSELF.:-) When you bend from that G to A, hold that bend, look inside yourself and understand the meaning and the sentiment, let it linger, see the sustained note as a form of silence. That's what I try to remember anyway. Saves money in lessons!
Every note and combination of notes has a lyrical meaning. So, understanding it will drive the collection of notes forward. I like players that make mistakes, but I still understand them.
Practice again, a daily joy. Get up , and head for the music room. Often I include this video,as I keep pluggin away at the song, I'm getting it, yuk yuk, too cool. Parts of it anyway.
Not in your league, but what I can play is sounding awesome. Sometimes it gets heart wrenching. Sometimes I'll sit here and laugh for a few minutes. I am not alwats sure, why I laugh, obviously I am pleased with something that improve.,I have seen all of the vids on this song, YOU ROCK!
Hey man, I can't think of a better song than Still got the Blues to jam behind! The vids I posted here were really meant for a friend in America, as I screw up more often than not on this piece! But I'm honoured that someone may find it inspiring. Understanding a song is very important to me, and I feel I understood where Gary's heart was at. And it was aimed right at my heart too! I think this applies to you.:-)I hope you post something up soon.
YYY It is just this type of thing that keeps me interested, in the guitar. Very Inspiring! I show this to my friends. They figure they can do it. He he he We are having a great time trying. Myself?? I realise I need skills and an understanding , I do not yet possess. One thing, my friend, I can tell you enjoy playing your music.
Hey cheers Pholtron!! As you know, passion is the number one thing. For me I cringe at some of the mistimed moments, would love to know how to really play the last couple of minutes as I'd wish, be less oldschool etc! Get to know the simplicity really well, and play it with passion!
Hey thanks! The sound was coming from the monitors behind me. Been playing about 27 years now, and every now and again when the evening feels just right, and the smell of pungent weed is in the air, it's just nice to blast through a great song. Quite a simple approach, mainly Pentatonic scale.
Thanks very much! Sadly I would fail miserably if I tried to tab that out. I went for Gary's vocal line to begin with, then jammed out using D minor and A minor pentatonics, with some D Dorian mode at times, and at one point remembered that I could use the A Harmonic Minor as well!
WOW, You are an Awesome Guitar Player,I can tell just by listening to the first Few Notes that You are very Passionate about your sound,Feelings and emotion,Heart and Soul,All there, and Your Left handed,Rare these Days,Long Live The Blues

loved the tone, hope to have chops like this someday

Cheers man! Funny how Frampton and me both had real long curly hair in 70s, and how we both decided to go bald!
Keep playing, with purpose mostly, and you'll achieve what you want.

"Silence - Save money on lessons?!!
yuk yuk yuk
I have enjoyed playing so much, lately.
I can hear, feel, and taste it. Not sure about the smell. Could be my dog.
The sustained note may be a: playground, anticipation, closure, a statement, a respite, a split moment, inner silence.
Daily Chant to achieve the Bordo state
"Nyam may oyho reingae quo" repeat 500 x until you don't have to think about it, and can play it with meaning

Yo
yep, bluea are a way of life, expressing them is not easy, playng them is often difficult to eacape from. I am planing a video,
Getting into this song more and more. The last section is personal style. It is a great song, it touches the heart of all who hear it.
THe ending gently lets the listener calm down from the intense emotional upheaval,
Continuing the pain to rhe end might be un good
