Its funny no matter how many bass covers i see i always see people bitching about using picks vs. fingure, simple fact alot of the best, do and don't paul from the beatles does and dosent and ill stick with him cause hes the oldest. when bass was upright hell no there was no pick but when it was turned electric it was treated like a guitar with a bass players techniq.

yeah man...poppy punk tunes like this one use picks...it gives it a pop, a better attack on the note...now if you were to play money by pink floyd you wouldnt use a pick because you want the dull deep tone of the fingers...depends on the song

yeh im not really into the poppy stuff im more into grunge like nirvana and smashing pumpkins plus my dads a professional guitarist and he says tht bass was originally designed with fingers plus i find it hard with pick:P

quiffychicky, you should give playing with a pick more of a chance. It really gives the bass a bright, sharp sounding attack when needed. I noticed you're a Smashing Pumpkins fan.  D'arcy uses a pick at times to enhance her sound, too. Check out 1979 live, for example.

i agree, with the small difference in that i mainly play technical death metal and blackened thrash death metal. try hitting 200 NPM playing 8th notes and 16th trips and gallops with little or no melody or repetition its the reason i quit heroin. this stuff is just nice to idle to, i have to admit its a catchy band
