Hey Scott I love your solos and videos and i'm playing Guido's Birthday this year for a solo contest! How should I ghost those flam drags?

@nelfam4 Very cool, Zach! I'd approach the fake flam drags just like normal but stop short of hitting the drum only on the primary accented notes. The motions of the grace notes, inner beats and drags remain unchanged.

If you have trouble try just moving the accents to the sides of the your drum or pad, leaving the rest in the center. That will allow you to isolate the accent motion then try to stop the stick when moving it to the side. Once that feels good leave it all in the center and bingo!

@thepercussionistME Master the basics so you have a firm foundation to build upon, only then work on the fancy stuff. The guys that make the line are the ones with a solid technique, can play in time and have the ability to nit pick the fine details of their own playing. How fast you learn during and between rehearsals is also a big thing the staff looks for.

@TheDragonmaster18 No, not at DCA but some do. At DCI I&E you're not required to wear your corps uniform but virtually everyone does.

At DCA I don't normally wear a uniform but 2008 was a special year where I wore my Cavaliers Anniversary Corps uniform to honor the corps' 60th anniversary.

Thanks man. Tuning is subjective to the listener but the mic on the camera is horrible. Check out my '09 video for a better idea of what this drum sounded like. You still may not like it thought. ;)

That is the Cavaliers Alumni Corps uniform. We used them to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Cavaliers and the 80th birthday of our President Don Warren this summer.
