@nelfam4 Very cool, Zach! I'd approach the fake flam drags just like normal but stop short of hitting the drum only on the primary accented notes. The motions of the grace notes, inner beats and drags remain unchanged.
If you have trouble try just moving the accents to the sides of the your drum or pad, leaving the rest in the center. That will allow you to isolate the accent motion then try to stop the stick when moving it to the side. Once that feels good leave it all in the center and bingo!
@thepercussionistME Master the basics so you have a firm foundation to build upon, only then work on the fancy stuff. The guys that make the line are the ones with a solid technique, can play in time and have the ability to nit pick the fine details of their own playing. How fast you learn during and between rehearsals is also a big thing the staff looks for.
@TheDragonmaster18 No, not at DCA but some do. At DCI I&E you're not required to wear your corps uniform but virtually everyone does.
At DCA I don't normally wear a uniform but 2008 was a special year where I wore my Cavaliers Anniversary Corps uniform to honor the corps' 60th anniversary.
Thanks man. Tuning is subjective to the listener but the mic on the camera is horrible. Check out my '09 video for a better idea of what this drum sounded like. You still may not like it thought. ;)
this solo has a lot of what most new solos are missing. musicality. its one thing to throw together a bunch of licks. but its completely another to make music using one drum
I can't even imagine why XL ever thought that was a good idea.
I mean, I love XL stuff, for sure, but that is a dumb invention. Frankly, most groups don't even bother with adjusting the top part anyway, so it was useless.

Awesome job Hulka! Your hands look as good as they did in '95. Devin here, I was the little dude that auditioned in 94, 95, and 96. Keep up the good work man!
Scoot...Wow! I see that you have continued on since I last saw you(about 12 years ago..UK). I remember watching you practice by using the reflection off of the glass of the Arts building.
That is the Cavaliers Alumni Corps uniform. We used them to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Cavaliers and the 80th birthday of our President Don Warren this summer.
Nice job Scott. Just when I think I am ready to challenge you for center in MCL.....you make me feel like you broke both my arms. As always, you continue to raise the bar. Maybe what I need is a super heroe name with an A on the end. How about SupermanA.....or AtlasA? Again....great job Scott.
Scott, really nice job. You've got class! I remember I played with my uniform on one year at DCA and felt so restricted. I couldn't even do the stick toss (LOL);) Congratulations on your second DCA win!
He is a Cavalier you dumbass! He is wearing the Cavalier Anniversary Corps uniform and his solo was a dedication to his Cavalier brothers, many of which were there. The video was posted fir friends and family that could not be there.
You really need to grow up.
Great job Scott! Thank you for posting the video do soon.
Eat crap idiot (emadamme)! Scott IS a Cavalier and respected as one of the finest! He has every right to include a tasty Cavie lick in his routine given he's created many of them himself. As to posting, there's a very wide support/fan/friend network of Scott's that were waiting for his video post whom couldn't attend Rochester -- thank you Scott. You've got class and another well deserved keepsake for your mantle.
My friends have spoken up for me as to why I posted my own video on my own YouTube channel. I will add this solo was to celebrate the Cavaliers 60th anniversary so I incorporated some of my favorite licks that the corps played, some of which I played in the line.
1 your a douche bag, 2 i would like to see you play half she shit he is playing there..and 3 pretty full of himself? shut the fuck up...He marched with Cavies which makes him 10x the man you will ever be..
Hey Scott I love your solos and videos and i'm playing Guido's Birthday this year for a solo contest! How should I ghost those flam drags?

true, but travis is still good, and plus travis is amazing at using a full drum kit aswell.

He's horrible at snare, and just plays really fast on a full set.

Actually, not even that fast. Really the only thin Travis Barker can do is beat the shit out of his cymbals and drumheads.
