hey man I had a Q... I have a 03 Tacoma exhaust headers intake etc etc a lot of shit done to it, had it for 5 years. Little tired of it was maybe thinking about getting one of these bad boys. What is realistic gas mileage on the streets? I'm getting 11-14 in the baby 3.4 so was just wondering if the 4.7 is a huge drop off?
you say you now have tail pipes so would you say it was much louder inside and out with it dumped after the muffler? i got a single in/out super 44 with full tail pipe and am thinkin bout dumping it ti make it louder. any ideas?
Cutting the tail pipes off and putting dumps on will make it much louder. I had lots of drone at 2k rpms. Enough to shake the rearview mirror as much as my 2 12" woofers do.
@tundrazach yeah but is that louder snide the car or louder? because i don't need louder inside the car i want people to be like look at that frikkin durango you know?
much louder inside cab. could barely hear people when talking on the phone. might be different for you though.
Best option would be to install an electric cut out. flip a switch and you have no muffler for when you want to be loud, then turn the switch again and back to normal. they are a little pricey though
@tundrazach Yeah i've been thinkin bout gettin one installed before the cat so i could have open headers! but idk right now. Thanks for the info though bro.
@tundrazach haha my 95 silverado will shit all over your tundra all fuckin day. drive that peice of shit off a cliff and be in it when it hits the fuckin ground. TOYOTAS FUCKIN SUCK ME SLOW!
@lespaul12001 95 silverado beating a tundra huh. why is that every chevy i have raced excpet a 5.3 with a cam and an ss 6.0 silverado i just stomped on their face with my 01 4.7 tundra. btw the ss silverado only beat me by .3 sec but i had a higher finishing speed
@lespaul12001 Toyota trucks a joke? You're a moron. I've had GM-they suck, I have an 84' F-150 which I love and I have a 06' Tundra 4 door Limited, that truck is fucking pissah. I use it to haul my buddys 22' trailer with car inside with no problem, I take it down trails with no problem and I use it as my daily driver with no problems over the past 4 years. Toyota is the best truck made right now. Don't comment on things you have no knowledge on.
Yeah, a joke. They dont even have a heavy duty series, I wonder why. As far as GM i have a 95 silverado with 256,000 miles on it. Runs awesome, looks awesome to. These trucks are weak as fuck, on Motor trends 0-60 the frame bends due to wheel hop. There was so much movement the bed actually made contact with the cab. Around here, if you dont have a ford dodge or chevy, you arent taken seriously. If youre gonna buy a truck, buy one from the people that know trucks best.
@lespaul12001 Medium duty does everything I ask. As far as GM, like I said before, they suck. I had a 98 1500 and I had more problems with that one truck than I've had with all of my other cars and trucks. Don't get me wrong, I love my Ford, I'll always be a Ford guy. But, Toyota makes an out standing truck, you can't deny it. Around there you wouldn't get taken seriously? Well around here no one gives a shit what other people think. Sorry you wouldn't be good enough for your neighbors.
ive got close to 15k miles on this exhaust, and even flipped the truck! but havent had any motor problems. I think the burned valves comes from having an open exhaust like straight headers that could allow cool air to come into contact with the valves and bend them.
was it quiter after you put the dual tail pipes on? or did it just eleminate the cab noise? Any power loss with the dual out? I heard the lack of back pressure could burn up your valves, not sure if that's true, or not.
it made it a little quieter (ive set off car alarm), and changed the sound a lot. With just the turndowns, it was very deep, not it sounds much like a mustang without the big cams. Cab noise was greatly reduced. Truck still has a bunch of power, it used to light up those Eagle GT2 tires like nothing. But now i have much heavier offroad tires. I noticed a loss in performance from the heavier tires much more than from the exhuast, and mind you the new tires were even the same size as the old ones!
sounds good makes me wanna cut the resonator off now. i had the tail piping on mine for about 3 years. Wanted it louder so i cut the piping off and it was a whole lot louder. the cab vibrates a whole lot too especially at 2k rpms. i have a 40 series with single in and out. cost me 40 bucks total
I noticed no power difference. a lot of people say you lose low end power on these trucks when you do the exhaust. but i didnt feel any difference. the only time i ever felt a loss of power was when i put on my new tires, which were quite a bit heavier, even in the same size. I beleive the TRD is a good bit quieter too
the pipes quieted it down some. i havent set off any alarms even when i tried. if your easy on the throttle it will be pretty quiet. by the way. what year is your truck? if it is the 04-06 it probably has the vv-ti motor. which ive been told it much quieter than the non vv-ti. if you have the vv-ti, you shouldnt have to worry about noise problems too much
o want to use the 40 series because it sounds the best but just wish flowmaster could get that exact sound in a quieter package i want my truck to have a bad ass ring but i dont need to set of car alarms i am considerate so late at night and early mornin dont want to wake everyone up how loud is it with the pipes did it quiet it any
It was loud. I set off an alarm on an f150 fust by starting it once. It takes my two 12" subwoofers to vibrate the rearview mirror as much as the exhaust did at 2000 rpm's. At idle, it could be heard a hundred feet away easy. But the exhaust note really doesnt seem as loud as it is, because of how deep the sound is. But it deffinitely made some noise, had a very nice gurgleing sound when slowing down.

If i remember right, this setup cost me just a little over 200. The tail pipes and chrome tips were an extra 125 when I got them put on.

sounds good but i must say i really prefer the magnaflow sound on the 4.7s
israelbissel 3 years ago
Magnaflows are wat too quiet and take away the true sound of the motor
Domman56 2 years ago
depends on what kind of magnaflow you get. magnaflows are louder than the flowmaster 40s
