The idea of God punishes sin and not just because they didnt praise and worship him...my thoughts. You didnt totally debunk him. I have a problem with the whole notion of sin. Many things Christians see as sin are not really evil to non Christians. What is sin? Its disobedience to God. Violation of his law wether that law forbids you to commit murder or move a finger. @brandtdary From a philosophical point of view, what's the point of eternal damnation? I understand punishment in life. It's purpose is two-fold: one - it acts as an incentive not to break certain rules and two - it allows the punished to reflect on their breaking of the rules so that they will be less inclined to break rules in the future. In terms of eternal punishment, even if the punished did regret their actions and committed themselves to change, the wouldn't have a chance to do so.

With all due respect, I think your missing the whole point of the video. You proved that when you said "god is not mad at people for not woeshipping him, he's mad at them because of their sin." But, as this video states, you can do everything right except worship god, and you still go to hell. So this does make him mad. Another point of the video is to ponder why god won't prove his existence while we are alive. He would have a lot more followers if he would just do that one little thing.

The idea of God punishes sin and not just because they didnt praise and worship him...my thoughts. You didnt totally debunk him. I have a problem with the whole notion of sin. Many things Christians see as sin are not really evil to non Christians. What is sin? Its disobedience to God. Violation of his law wether that law forbids you to commit murder or move a finger. Thus God is still every bit as petty than if he had said he condemns for not worshiping him. Its basically the same thing

@ShawDAMAN this is a bit non-topic here but the truth is the bible was not the original version of the book either, neither was the koran or any other "holy book", many stories are based on true events (the flood, tower of babel, etc..) as written in summerian chronicles, of course the biblical stories were more sensational but hey your get the drift...
bottomline is that the christian belief(and most other religions) tend to take things out of context and blow them up to huge proportions

To argument #1: Firstly, with that logic the god needs to have a creator too. Secondly, when you find a book with an unknown author, you don't believe ANYONE who claims they know the author, until they have PROVEN it.
To #2: Firstly, even in the Bible it's clearly stated that what you DO that matters. Secondly, doing good things for no other reasons rather than having such a desire is what makes you good, doing them because the big boss has commanded so makes you a merchant.

Is that the only reason God punishes so called sinners for all eternity as opposed to punishing them for a shorter term and then giving them the chance to redeem themselves? To satiate an insatiable thirst for vengeance? That's the only reason I can possibly think of for such disproportionate punishment. Then again, God works in mysterious ways right?

@brandtdary From a philosophical point of view, what's the point of eternal damnation? I understand punishment in life. It's purpose is two-fold: one - it acts as an incentive not to break certain rules and two - it allows the punished to reflect on their breaking of the rules so that they will be less inclined to break rules in the future. In terms of eternal punishment, even if the punished did regret their actions and committed themselves to change, the wouldn't have a chance to do so.

With all due respect, I think your missing the whole point of the video. You proved that when you said "god is not mad at people for not woeshipping him, he's mad at them because of their sin." But, as this video states, you can do everything right except worship god, and you still go to hell. So this does make him mad. Another point of the video is to ponder why god won't prove his existence while we are alive. He would have a lot more followers if he would just do that one little thing.

He's not a retard it makes perfect sense, he just forgot to include that God is forgiving and if you have the right heart (a good, loving soul) you will be forgiven of sin by Jesus and god and will prosper in Heaven. This however is not an excuse to sin, you cant sin just because you think "oh, god will forgive me so i can sin and still go to heaven" no it doesnt work like that, you have to actually try not to sin as much as possible.

A truly good individual does not create a system in which failures will exist.
As an omniscient entity, they would be purposely creating failures, in other words, if you get screwed over, god screwed you over.
If one can call this individual the ultimate good, then all I can say is that your ultimate good is pathetic.
If anyone is going to pull out the "limiting freedoms" bullcrap, then I would say the same creator is limiting my freedom for not allowing me to perform magic.

Also, you have redefined what a "good person" means so that it is virtually unrecognizable and frankly quite whimsical. Provide me with one SINGLE SHRED of evidence that Jesus Christ existed. There's NOTHING. As for the Bible, everything of any significance in there can be traced back to PREVIOUS religions/mythologies that LONG pre-date the Bible, there is nothing original about the stories in the Bible or the story of Jesus. Have you ever heard of Horus, Mithra, Attis, Dionysus, Apollo, Krishna, etc? Why do all of these characters have the same basic life story as Jesus yet they came BEFORE he supposedly did?

So it is very natural to act bad and still be good. I have meant plenty of people who have done bad things and were VERY good people. Well I like your reply but even though we both have diffrent beliefs we do agree on 2 things. 1- this debate may keep going back and forth because beliefs come from ones own mind. Your beliefs are in your mind and my beliefs are in mines thats why we both make our own connections of like such as ur eve reply. I sound crazy to a lot of people when I talk about my beliefs lol. 1. There's evidence that buildings were created by humans. There's NONE for God.
2. I agree, "good" means perfect in God's standards. That's the key word, standards. If one of god's commandments were to "kill your neighbor", that would be considered "good". God wants perfection. God is not love, he's a dictator. Imagine Hitler building the Aryan race.
3. Imagine someone who does not believe sins exist. Do these people deserve torture?

Funny about how this guy thinks that this VIDEO is brainwashing people, when that's pretty much what religion does: it makes people believe in fairy tales. I'm an atheist. I have no problem with people going to church on Sunday and talking to an invisible giant in the sky. What bugs me is the people, like this guy, who cannot separate what they believe from what they know.

If people do bad things it makes them a bad person but if people do good things it does not make them a good person.
Absolutely true! If someone commits a crime, it makes them a criminal. If they do lots of good things afterwards, does that stop them from being a criminal? No. Regardless of how many good things they have done, they still deserve to be punished for the crime they committed. If people can accept how that works in law, they should easily be able to accept how God works.

That bit was funny in a clever way! People often accuse God of being malicious when he punishes people but he does that because he is just. To take it one step further, Acts 17:31 says God's judgment will be according to righteousness implying that there are degrees of punishment in Hell.

I wish you didn't skip over the "born into the WRONG culture" bit. Just curious - what percentage of the people living in, say, IRAN, are going to hell?
And the Ten Commandments... come on. I could make a better list. For starters, I'd get rid of the useless "worship me" commandments and put in things like "no torture." I'd also allow all sorts of graven images, but I'd make my point about "no child abuse" crystal clear. "No killing" and "no stealing" are good ideas, which is why they're laws.
