  • I was their lead guitar player for a very magical year, toured with them and still miss them a great deal. Totally lost contact with them tho. The last time I heard anything from them, Kevin Crampton (jenny's husband and drummer) called me to sit in with them at the opry. I was unable to make it. Often wonder where they ended up. Very sad they didn't become the household names they deserved to be.

  • this was in the era of some of te very best country music, the so called country music coming out now is a joke at best, its not even music

  • I can imagine hearing this song played so softly when I enter the gates of heaven after I pass on. It's a song sent from the heavens. I hope I make it there when it's my time to go.

  • I remember this song in the summer of 1988. They have such angelic voices. I wish they became a huge superstar trio, instead of the Dixie Chicks. The Dixie Chicks had nothing on the McCarters. I just don't hear beautiful country songs on the radio like this one anymore. It's sad.

  • I bought this cassette a long time ago.. I really don't understand why they did not make it big. Their voices are beautiful and the songs are deep, with meaning. I am trying to find out if I can get this on CD. Does anyone know where I can get it?

  • Yes, I remember this song also. What beautiful harmonies. Takes me back to my teen years when I see this girls with their big hair.

  • Thank you, great memories.

  • Thank you very much, my cassette wore out a long time ago and their beautiful music has always stayed and flowed through my mind.

  • This song my wife would sing it to me ,before our little girl was born

  • by the way. samiandemilyloveday is also my account, ha.

  • @heavyduty, thank u for the update:) i didnt kniw about that.

  • The twins Lisa and Teresa McCarter are with a new group Runaway Home. Check them out on facebook.

  • No, they aren't still performing. They stopped a while ago. They are my cousins. My dad and his brothers and sister used to play with them when they were kids. My grandparents went to listen to them and they had dedicated a song to my grandma. My grandparesnt are Lee Roy and Judy Loveday. They were my grandpa's cousins. So, my third cousins. I've never met them, but it would have been nice to. Also, Dolly Parton is my 5th cousin. Also on my grandpa's side.

  • @SamiAndEmilyLoveday Lisa and Teresa McCarter have a new group called Runaway Home. You can find them under that name on Facebook. So check them out.

  • @SamiAndEmilyLoveday Simply beautiful harmonies. I had the opportunity to watch them perform live along with Randy Travis at a USO show in Vicenza Italy sometime in 1987 or 1988. I still have their cassette tape titled "The Gift". On one of their songs they sing about their Dad pulling off to the side of the road to listen to them on the radio; very touching. I always wondered why they weren't even more popular than the Dixie Chicks as well.

  • Really liked their album/CD. Whatever happened to them? Are they still performing?

  • Thanks for posting one of best songs ever. These girls disappeared way too quick. I kept waiting for another album but...

  • Despite the fact it's getting old I still have my cassette of this album from the McCarters. I bought it new MANY moons ago and it still plays all right to this day. However, it's nice to be able to come to YouTube and hear 'THE GIFT' without having to tax my tape! Thanks for uploading this. :)

  • Know every word and your music still means so much to me. It's very comforting and touching.

  • A treasure !

  • This is Great i used to have the casette of you better be home soon.. This girls can sing and they harmonice like angles. .. Do anyone know where i can get the hold of their cd`s?

  • "Letter From Home" was always a favorite.

  • I'm proud to say that I know all these ladies...went to high school with 'em. really, really good people! And I still talk to Jenny.

  • Beautiful song! Gotta love that family harmony. Thanks so much for posting it.

  • I distinctly remember hearing this song, and playing it when I was a DJ back in 1985 about the time my dad died. To this day, when I hear it, which isnt often, it makes me think of him. Yet the info says it was a hit in 1988.....three years later......?

    Great song by the way...

  • I double-checked my Billboard book and also Wikipedia and the information I have listed is correct, #4 in 1988.

  • @KSMusicGeeks That's interesting. I remember playing in in 1985 on the radio, the same year he died. Maybe it just didn't really catch on til 88....?

  • I haven't heard this song in nearly 20 years. Thank you!
