ok one thing that i dont think is fair is the academy judges on what the movie brings in on opening weekend (i think). because revolutionary road came out in 2 states on the 1st day it was open and they didnt wait till it opened in "select cities" or everywhere. and i dont just mean revolutionary road i mean all movies!!! (i just think it would be more fair.)

that's NOT true. best pic nominees are RARELY blockbuster hits. benjamin button has made the most - 100 million. the others, like milk and frost/nixon have made less than like 5 million. that's why the award show often has such low ratings, because audience members haven't even seen HALF the films nominated!

tovebox's comments were spot on. (Dark Knight final lines). Unfortunatly regardless of however many people recognize the Dark Knights brilliance it's unlikely to win Best Pic. Will prob loose to some sh*t like B.Button or R road, though personaly i think it the best movie made this year!

its not the box office or money making that should count (not saying it hasn't had influence before, btw, so dont start flaming.) but the purpose of the academy, the true purpose, is to honor the art form and the creative genius and the true beauty of the written word.

tdk's editing was awful. There are so many inconsistencies in it, it's impossible not to notice them. That said, it deserves noms for director, supporting actor, sound editing, and cinematography, at least. And in my opinion screenplay. Go TDK! Too bad the academy is still too constipated to acknowledge it, the fuckers!

I agree. I bet the Academy is going to be cheap again by favoring some other film that never made the least of an impact in cinema history (e.g. Milk, The Reader).

DARK KNIGHT DESERVES TO WIN. i understand that the oscars are very traditional. but ppl forget that comics is an american tradition dating back to 1939 when batman debuted.

everyone has to admit that nobody expected the dark knight to turn out the way it did. it is a true masterpiece especially for a movie rated pg-13.

in the current economic trouble we are in. the world needs a hero at the oscar podium.

... i didn't have him on my list unfortunately, even though THE VISITOR is an amazing film. are you saying that is what YOU think? I could definitely see that happening, but I personally think his chances are very slim.
