  • Pete Townshend do the backing vocals!

  • I don't have a tendency to like rock n' roll. But when The Ramones do it, I love it.

  • hey white zombies bassest is in the video playing both bass and guitar.

  • The late great Prof. LUXXXXX !!!

  • this is a great cover of the song. pete townshend does backing vocals on this song which it makes it even better

  • @jubilaz oh rly!?

  • dis video is crazy!!!

  • its not a bad cover. i like the whos original version better, but thats only because the who are my favorite band. but still its nice to see other bands app-re-she-ate(i cant spell) the same music as me, even if i dont like the cover or band, a trubute is a trubute, and a trubute always means well.

  • was this before or after the sex pistols did a cover?

  • after.

  • Is that Lux Interior?

  • im a huge ramones fans have tons and tons of bootlegs of them but i do have to say the sex pistols had the best version of it,something just doesent settle with me and the ramones towards the last yrs of their career..74-78 to me are the best yrs with the ramones with tommy

  • the ramones made the best covers

  • this is an awesome cover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2:27 is that lemmy!!

  • it is !

  • such a fucking obscure videoclip!

  • not a bad cover of this song

  • Isn't that the lead singer of The Cramps at the beginning?

  • lolz at the beginning

  • Comment removed

  • Is that Joey and CJ?

  • this is in school of rock

  • i havent heard this song in like two years its great now that i remember it.

  • that was so trippy, I'd go so far as to call it ridiculously trippy

  • Was that Lemmy at 2:30?!?!

  • That was one of the most awesome videos I've ever seen. Yeah, that was Lemmy at 2:30, but my question is, Who was THAT at 2:38!? Looks like she could be bucketheads wife or something.

  • I think that was the White Zombie bass player

  • lawl ive had like a million subs this week i love this song cause its funny

  • This video is almost trippier than Devo's cover of "Are You Experienced?"

  • OMG i didnt no they did a cover of the who

  • pete townshend does the backing vocals

  • i didn´t know that. cool

  • I honestly wouldn't expect Pete to be associated with these guys. No disrespect to either, it just seems that they're in completely different departments in the rock and roll industry.

  • I don't agree. Both the Who and the Ramones had an identical lineup - lead singer, 1 guitarist, bass and drummer. Both bands didn,t rely on big guitar solos. Both bands were pioneers within their own genres -who=mod, ramones =punk. The who were a massive influence on the 70s punk scene. I'm pretty sure Townshend was well aware of that when he released the movie Quadraphenia in 1979 on the tail-end of the late 70s punk/mod scene. he would have jumped at the chance to do this...its awsome version

  • Oh yeah - and Pete Townhend and Joey Ramone share the same birthdate - -May 19th..

  • and Lenny's (Motorhead) drunken walk by with the gal

  • i like Lux Interior's (Cramps R.I.P.) as the scientist appearance at the beginning

  • This song isn't supposed to be hard punk like this it is supposed to be mellow

  • The Ramones are Killer Punks....they set the PACE....after the FACE! Wink

  • Long Live The Ramones!!!

  • Damn good tune...They ALMOST do it as well as the GrandMasters, (The WHO) who composed it to begin with.

  • ramones are punk.

    they practically invented it xD

  • hell no its all about the sex pistols

  • this video is too freaky,,.but who s version is a bit better...anyway ramones rules ..

  • Holy Shit! Is that Lux Interior (Cramps) at the beginning of the video playing the Scientist???

  • Is it? How do I find out?

Both versions kick ass, even the Sex Pistols do this song justice. The Ramones badass pretty much everything out of the park, so...

  • it sure looks like him

  • it is indeed lux :]

  • this is just as good as the who's version!!

  • Please, this version has no fucking balls.

  • It is not as the who's version but it is probably a little under it.

  • Lemmy on back up vocals. Cool!

  • Lemmy back up vocals. Cool!

  • what a great video !!! all the soul of rock'nroll is here!

  • awesome but the music video is missing the suicide

  • Interesting cover. I like The Who's FAR better, though.

  • nice cameo bye Lux Interior in the intro

  • the song's alright, the video retarded.

  • It's alright.. the video is better than the cover.

  • The Who's is wayyyyyyy better. no one could do this song like the who can

  • Lame. Give me The Who!

  • i gave all the comments thumbs downs -_-

  • THey also have acover of surfing bird

  • Even though I'm more a Sex Pistols guy, the Ramones version of The Who's "Substitute" S-L-A-U-G-H-T-E-R-S the Pistols' sorry cover.

  • the ramones were huge fans of the who. this really shows how punk the who was for their time and how much influence they really had on the whole genre. but other than all that stuff, this is just a great song and an absolutely amazing cover. i could actually see pete townsend listening to it and being like, "wow, cool". LOL the ramones were GREAT.

  • 5 stars k. This song ownz.

  • It looks like Peewee's Playhouse threw up on the Beetle Juice movie. Something only the 80's could produce I imagine. Great cover though.

  • 4 stars

  • good cover. as good as the original

  • I have never seen this.LONG LIVE THE WHO!

  • LONG LIVE THE WHO! great cover btw

  • YEAH

  • Its on the "Acid Eaters"-album, and the backing vocalist is Towshend himself! That album is quite strange, all songs are covers.

  • Bloody strange video. Absolutely great cover

as only the Ramones could pull. They were such a great band.

  • Haa! Lemmy is on the vid too ;D Neat. Rare song I guess. Atleast never heard it before.

  • i aint that fond of this song....its okay but the sound is horrible.

and to frankgallagher.....the ramones started punk rock!

  • damn right he can

  • the best band of punkrock!!!! "The Ramones"

    the fathers of punkrock!!!!

    long live ramones!!!

  • the ramones are so funny! thanks for putting this video!

  • ypu wrong. MC5 invented punk, and the stooges

  • ramones were the fathers of punk music, sex pistols were a year after them, but both are good bands

  • no ramones = no clash or sex pistols.

i'll take music over attitude anyday.

  • Anarchy in the UK...? Well they ( RAMONES ) came from The USA. What can I say? At least Ramones had a bass player who knew how to play his instrument..

  • Lux Interior from the Cramps in the beginning. The Cramps and The Ramones; TWO GUARANTEED EXCELLENT CONCERTS

  • I slept with a pinhead. he Gabba´d all over my bed,..

  • That is the FREAKIEST fucking video!!

  • Possibly my favorite The Who song, and covered by one of my top ten favorite bands! This simply rocks!!!

  • they redefined punk rock.. LONG LIVE THE RAMONES!!!

  • The Ramones INVENTED punk rock.

  • not fucking true, the sex pistols began punk, and without them there wouldnt be punk

  • I think that the ramones released their 1st album before the sex pistols 1st. but i could be wrong

  • Ramones played their first concert in '74 and released their 1st album in '76.

Sex Pistols was born in '75 (!!!) and their first album came out in '77.. Who's the liar now?

  • ramones didnt have what the pistols had, they had THE punk attitude, anarchy in th uk?

  • raccoonmaster, I dont like the Sex Pistols and prefer the Ramones, but just becuase i think that way I'm not going to go to sex pistols videos uploaded in youtube making comments about how the ramones are better and blablabla, because if I do that, ill be acting like a fucking fangirl, which is what you are, a fanboy, and everybody hates fanboys, so just shut the fuck up already, each to its own, if you prefer the sex pistols then listen to the sex pistols and Ill stick with my ramones.

  • yeah

  • niceeeeeeeeeeee gabba gabba hey!!!!!!!!

  • What a weird video!

  • cuando joey sale de bebe es lo mejor

  • Ramones are great but The Who's version is better

  • this is a much more better version of the song than the WHO version, which sounds gay

  • the who was better joeys voice does not go right with the song . I respect the ramones though

  • I remember when they did this...I think Pete Townshend is also playing on this track! He was invited in to play on it..

  • very strange musicvideo, but when the ramones plays this song it brings me back memorys from the the time with british invasion music from the 60s

  • Heh, Michael Berryman appearing alongside the Pinhead. That's just classic.

  • For any other group this would be sacriledge.... but the Ramones can get away with it.

  • don't even criticize. gret band givering greeeat band.

  • this is goood! the video is pretty funny aswell i think lol

  • Nice vid,but it doesn't matter what the Ramones play....it's the same song!!

  • If you don't appreciate both of these bands you have a problem

  • Gr8 cover of a gr8 bands song by a gr8 band!!!!!

  • I love The Ramones and The Who.....it's a dichotemy :*(

  • Big shit!!!

  • Yeah, he´s Lux Interior, and also I saw Karen Black, Lemmy & Roger Daltrey.

  • Not as bad as I expected

  • However i do like the Ramones..............

  • Now i know why i never perform covers of great bands.

  • You can't re-punk the ultimate punk tune. Wannabees!

  • Wannabees? They're paying tribute to a great band and they 1000's of bands covering their songs.

Saying re-punk makes you look like an ignorant ass.
