  • nah thats not as good as cpu where they link there hp attack with the jecht rush combo its unbelievable it usually ends in instant kill.

  • I just cant do this in the US version. I get close to them and use block but it doesnt hit. Was Jechts Block nerfed in the US version? can someone confirm this?

  • Yes, apparently, jecht Block does not hit now, which removes it's only practical use (because it sucked as a guard for many reasons).

    Sad... He didn't need a nerf

  • hmmm, the jecht block still do some help though (in the US version)..I equip the aerial JB cause it could negate or cancle some HP attacks..(especially projectile and the slow-kind HP attacks)...not sure which specific HP attacks though cause I dont use Jecht for now

  • Though, the Jecht Block literally blocks everything. It even blocks the Defense Crush HP attacks that most of the Dissidia roster has. Not to mention it can be done just as quickly as block. So when you're in a bad position, and you're about to get 1-shot by a guy with 9999 BRV, and he has an HP attack with Defense Crush, proper timing with the Jecht Block can save you.

    And on a side note, I now realize the irony of Jecht's character: a brute that uses precise timing to win, who'da thunk it.

  • Still, Jecht Block sucks.

    Blocking an HP attack with JB is always worse than evading it.

    Why? Because JB makes you stagger when blocking guard crush attacks (most of them) making you unable to retaliate HP attacks, which you could easily do through simply avoiding, and on top of that te timing is prohibitive.

    As a guard, it's worse than normal because it leaves you open for Counterattack (counts as an attack), and it doesn't have post-block recovery against spammable attacks.

  • Yes, but there are times when even a dodge might be a tad to slow, as the opening frames of a dodge still leave you vulnerable.

    Either which way, JB can save your or screw you, it just depends on the application.

  • but on the flipside, if you JB an opponents brave attack, it sends them staggering for so long that you have to punish them for not being as manly as Jecht!

    actually it depends

    if u jecht block a hp atk, both you and ur opponent will stagger

    if both are staggering, how is your opponent suppose to attack you with a spammable attack?

    just dodge after jecht blocking and it will solve most of the counter attacks

    but i do agree on the part of dodging does give you a chance to counter attack their attack

  • @shawnaw2 You didn't exactly get what I mean with spammable attacks there.

    I know he opponent staggers on a HP block. The problem is, some HP attacks have projectile parts that will not make them stagger, thus leave you open. On top of that and most importantly, while blocking BP attacks, normal block has an instant auto-recovery so you can spam it against multiple projectiles, while jetch block doesn't, so it's completely useless against multi-projectile attacks

    just to tell you how i play my jecht, i agree that some hp cant be block

    i do not just plainly block every single hp attk there is, flood from terra cant be blocked and must be dodge, cloud of darkness has some that cant too

    as for ur "spammable skills that have remaining projectiles", i think u mean magical projectiles such as terra's holy combo/holy, THAT U DODGE... jecht is not firion where every bp dmg = counter

    i could post a vid but i duno how to record T_T

    to add on, i dun remember having a hp atk with remaining projectiles, except those comboed from bp atks.

    as for your second point, i can only say, jecht is not a blocker... he is not firion with a hp counter for any bp atk

    if ur talking abt terra's holy combo, that you dodge, or get face planted with ultima

    o and yes i DO USE the nomal block sometimes. skills such as melee is good with jecht block as it looks cool

    cool down sux though

    but my jecht is play defensively like tidus

  • @falcord nah even though u cant hit with block it can still cause big hazard problems because instead of flying u now u have a chance to jecht rush combo ur apponent to death

  • how did the testing play out? it looks like youre working off the oponents stun~ thats usually a sure shot in most fighting games..of course i wouldnt know in this case since i dont own this game yet...

    but question: that EX MODE combo restart you implimented...is that useable with his other combos aswell? and also is the double kick combo the onl usable follow up to the jecht bitch-slap?

  • well i have the game now and cant help but lmao at this post i wrote~

    sad to see the nerf but the block still smacks the mess out of HP attacks with a little time to counter attack~ its an ok move

  • The critical are because I have the abilities "Counter Attack" and "Guard Counter Attack" active (they're mandatory for everyone, they rock =P):

    The combos are based on timing (search for jecht combo tutorials, jecht combos are hard to do first).

    Besides the timing, I do a couple "special" combo links, the JB to air combo which is featured many times in the video, and the EX cancel you see in the end (thanks to sleath41).

  • Hmmm I don't think this actually works man. It's like your Garland Combo. After Bardiche you can't link Chain Bump (on human's) as they have enough time to get up and block it. I'll have to test though

  • It's not the same, Bardiche to CB leaves a much wider frame, while the time they have to react to this is very very small.

    It's definitly more reliable than Bardiche to CB ^^
