Sorry to disappoint you dearest but Polish competitors actually are one of the best in Europe and World-both kata and kumite. If you read more then you'll find out they are also the best in en-bu, fuku-go and ko-go kumite. And I am not "armchair" judge. Usually I'm either cansa or sushin. Plus I'm the European champion in kata, kumite and fuku-go, so I guess I know enough to express my opinion. oss!
An impressive record honourable sir. But to critisize another style can be warranted if done respecfully. But they were runners-up in THEIR Federation World Championships. Is it right to demean them because they are not in yours. That is why new Federations and Organisations spring up faster than my ushiro-geri, lack of respect for one another. Those who criticise karate should remember that a martial art does not survive hundreds of years by having its practicioners beaten-up by others. Just because you see some bad karate practicioners doing stuff does not mean karate as a whole sucks. Remember that!
The women's team is good. But the men need practice. There's no power and rhythm in their kata. Their stances are kind of short, too. In shotokan karate, the stances are low, and there should be power and rhythm.
First the women's kata was great, because the were doing the right stance.. Heiko dachi and not kibodachi.. they are doing different style than u aperently know.. it's not shotokan, it's shito-ryu.. before writing think what you want to say.. and The women's kata was great. TOES point out (as it should be)
kata is a form of working on balance and technique. When kata is demonstrated through bunkai (with actual karateka attacking and using kata in it's form to block) it's very effective. Also, kata form tends to change between when practiced and when used for bunkai so a technique in the practice form will be different to the *actual* technique. To say kata is ineffective before seeing it performed without bunkai illustrates how little people know of karate.

They of course are modified to use in different situations. If performed correctly, they are very deadly. Focus, endurance, speed and skill are needed in order to use these methods effectively.

Ok. Now, as for the guys.. that kata is Empi and we have it in my syle and I.. i've seen better. Its great, its strong, its sychronized don't get me wrong. But it all seemed over too quickly? Didnt take ths slow bits slow enough.. etc. Otherwise, not too bad!
Yeah, it's really annoying in this clip. A large portion of American commentary is annoying. It's the same with tennis, where they seem to try and fill every moment with some voice overs, even if they're redundant or really not needed. Thank god someone recognized that commentary too!
The second kata looked very similar to Wanshu from Wado-ryu.

The kibodachi in the women's kata was bad! Toes point straight forward not out. Anyway, I can tell that that guy doing Empi isn't a white belt!

But that guy with the white belt definitely is on a higher rank than the ninth kyu.

You really think so? The highest rank is 10th Dan. If he is on that rank, he should be around the age of 80 or older.

Wicked. BUT I didn't like their Kia's. Too weak. And i didn't like the voice overs. God it was annoying. Overall though it was pretty damn wicked.
