I was really disappointed that here comes the king was not played during game 1 of the 2011 world series at Busch stadium on the organ when the cardinals were introduced one by one like they did in 2006 and 2004, they just played some crappy pre recorded music
This an all time classic! I remember going to St Louis Blues games as kid and everyone clapping when "Here comes the King" was played it was awesome. I wish moderen arenas would go back to using organists instead of piping in the crap they play now, this was and should be a tradition in sports
Do they play this at 'futbol' games in Sao Paulo. If it weren't for the jobs still dependent on AB in St. Louis. I wish the Cards could drop these greedy foreign swine as an endorsement. I would rather drink battery acid than Budweiser.
What happened to your old rendition of this classic? I had it in my bookmarks and found that you had removed it.
Congratulations to you and all of Cardinal Nation for your Birds winning the NL Central crown for 2009! My Phillies just took the NL East crown for the third year in a row.
Hopefully, your Cards and my Phillies can have at each other in the 2009 NLCS. Good luck!
I just watched this video again while going through my bookmarks. I was reminded of the friendly rivalry between my (now late) aunt and I. She lived in O'Fallon, MO and was as big a Cards fan as I am a Phillies fan. She sent me a 1982 World Series t-shirt, which I still have - I was 18 in 1982. Unfortunately, I never realized what a collector's item it could have become, and I wore it and wore it. It's too small for me today and yellowed with age.
Is Ernie still the Cardnials organist? I watched the Cards against the Dodgers a day or two ago on TV, and I don't know if that's still him playing. I live in Las Vegas NV.
Absolutely, Ernie Hays is still the Cardinals' organist. The Cardinals are Ernie Hays and Ernie Hays is the Cardinals. His playing time has gotten cut down quite a bit wih all the canned music and sound effects that they use at the new Busch Stadium.
Jeremy Boyer is great. Is he any relation to former Cardinals star Clint Boyer? Boyer's had the privilege of learning under the legendary Ernie Hays. Jeremy is keeping the fans of the Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis' AAA team) entertained at their games at AutoZone Park. Maybe one day when the good Lord comes to get Ernie, the Cardinals will give Jeremy Boyer the opportunity to move up to the big league team and have him entertain the St.. Louis Cardinals fans as Ernie has done all these years.
Goosebumps, and tears on this cold opening day.Thank you and God Bless you for sharing your talent with us. I almost stood at attention at my computer. I like to think my dad tracked down Jack Buck in heaven and they will have a cold Bud at 3:15 cst today. Go Cards@!
If anyone knows where to find an MP3 of this song please let me know! I already have Ernie's rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ball Park" and "Meet Me In St. Louie." But "Here Comes the King" would complete it!

Very good rendition! It's a shame that people can't say "good job" without dropping the f-bomb. Time to expand your vocabulary folks!
