I bowled with Marv and his family many years ago at long-since-closed Palladium Bowl (closed June 11, 1980), and I knew Hugh from Leilani back when the shot there was WAY out on first board. I pretty much gave up on bowling when I figured out about 20 years too late that I probably started with the wrong hand (I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn anyway!)...
This event was taken place between games in an 8 game swiss tournament. The idea was to give someone a chance to bowl Hugh head to head in a 9th and 10th frame roll-off. As it turned out, Marv got drawn, who had bowled juniors with Hugh many years ago. Hugh was a great sport and marv said he enjoyed it very much.
Good to see both these bowlers still active in the sport. I see Marvin has come a very long way from full-rolling his Ebonite Concentrator and Hugh probably isn't driving his white ('61???) Falcon, Comet or whatever it was anymore!
Thank you for posting this- I wish both of these bowlers the very best.
I miss Palladium bowl. And Leilani and Lake City and Village and Ballinger and.....
Hey Marv....looking good.
