Just saw "Unsung" Bobby Womack on TvOne...Awesome insight to the man and his music. He is truly a living legend, an Unsung Legend.mThis song is one of my favorites
I remember this on TV. If I'm not mistaken it was some kind of tribute to Richard Pryor and during an interview he said this was one of his favorite songs.
Uhnn uhnnn uhn! Timeless....these words are from over 20 yrs ago n STILL RELEVANT YALLL... He ain't talkn bout no cells, strip clubs, etc.... Real r&b! Dammit!!!!!
Probably was performed at a tribute to Richard Pryor...thus the camera on Rich. Classic moment. True talent. Stop buying hip hop and r&b and the music industry will bring back the true talent and put 50 cent and lil wayne where they belong - in the back of the bus and classroom.
You could see that Richard P. felt this one! But isn't that what music is supposed to do? Make you FEEL something? Since Pac died.... I haven't FELT anything. But as for R&B goes... It died with Jodeci! Bet dat! The Philly soul folks fought like hell to bring it back but no one was there to grab the baton! Oh well... Bubble gum sex music (trey songz) is what we're stuck with!
You know I may be wrong, but I don't think there's an artist today who can produce a slow jam or love ballad like this with the same power, passion, & meaning as bobby womack or any of the greats from the 60's through early to mid 90's. They don't even produce slow jams anymore. Everything is just about a bunch of materialistic bullshit or some weak bubblegum rapping thug, rapping about his dick, bitches,ho's,money, cars, guns, bling, strip clubs ect.. The industry does not promote TRUE R&B anymore.
@str8outtatexas1 Naw, you ain''t wrong, it's sad to say, but you ain't wrong. I'm just glad I know about music like this and thank goodness for my parents who exposed me to the good stuff so I don't have to listen to the autotune hiphop crap playing out there today.
@str8outtatexas1 Things sho' have changed. Probably why I listen to mostly old school jams...with an exception to very few artists. I weep for real soul music!
@str8outtatexas1 So true.... We have to hold on to those old records/cd's because in a few years true r&b will be non existent, scary fact actually!!!
I've seen Mr. Womack on quite a few occassions, and I know for a fact "they" (I don''t know who the they are) cut his music short. If you know anything about Mr. Womack and his 'groove', you know he will give it to you, no matter how long it takes. But dammit those dimples, oh boy if I wasn't married....
RIP RICHARD PRYOR MAY GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL U MADE SO MANY FOLKS 4GET ABOUT EVERYDAY PAIN & SUFFERING THROUGH YOUR CRAFT we know as comedy. BOBBY WOMACK YOU ARE AND ALWAYS WILL BE AMAZING plus that's my favorite song by the way.. " always complaining about the things her girlfriends got "

It was more complex and provoked a wider range of thoughts. Now that seems to be mostly replaced with music that lacks soul, void of substance, and an empty and often corrupt value system. I saw Bobby preforming with goillaz thursday.. It was so amazing he played a number alone and everybody hold there lighters up :) hes the man, hes the soulman
Bobby, there are very few performers that sound this good live; especially today.
Your voice is a blessing to all of us.
Some folks have posted that K-Ci & Jojo is the better version. I will not say which one is my favorite, but lord, can they sound as good as you do live. Both are beautiful. Mercy mercy.
@82Pfunk i aint saying which one is better but thats a rare treat when the remake is so good u debate which one is better i will say this kci tore that $%&% up
@toofargone68 I agree. If there's debate, then you did SUMPn. KCi did it justice and that's enough. Didn't have to do it better. And he didn't, but KCi rocked it anyhow. NOW, I will say that Jodeci's "Lately" puts Stevie's to shame. They are the ONLY ones who EVER did a Stevie song better than HE did it.
Yeh Love the song and I could just see the man right now planning to ride off in to the dark..leaving his woman....what he aint know is that he's the one that's gonna be crying in the morning...Wait until tonight we'll see bout that....
"...I bet u think this song is abooooout uuuuuu...don't u, don't u, don't u?" LMBO If the stilletos fit....Preach to her Bobby...nuff said! It was written!

@82Pfunk i aint saying which one is better but thats a rare treat when the remake is so good u debate which one is better i will say this kci tore that $%&% up
toofargone68 1 year ago
@toofargone68 I agree. If there's debate, then you did SUMPn. KCi did it justice and that's enough. Didn't have to do it better. And he didn't, but KCi rocked it anyhow. NOW, I will say that Jodeci's "Lately" puts Stevie's to shame. They are the ONLY ones who EVER did a Stevie song better than HE did it.
