When I got my blood taken, they had to do it 3 times (2 on R, 1 on L) since they couldn't find the vein. I felt like I was tortured on the third try since they kept on poking my flesh :(
i had my blood taken when i was in the hospital 2 days ago a nice firework accident with me ending up getting 1st and 2nd degree burns on my face but anyway the nurse that did mine was cool shes like shawn u want s a soda or sumthing then in goes the needle
thanks for this, i was a bit curious, i am scared of needles, but i may need some soon, so this was a good insight, i heard all these techniques, dont look at the needle, talk or clench your other fist, dont think about it (as hard as it may be) but its kinda hard when its one of your main fears i guess
reminds me of my days in hospital when they took like 3-4 of these each day, and this in this nurse owned, cause i nearly always got students that fucking sucked at this, that had to inject 2 times or drove the needle along the skin when ejecting
Er,,,this might make me sound like a pussy but I am afraid of taking blood tests. BTW, when I got my blood taken they didn't use those needles that you use for shots, they use the ones with the metal tip that pierces the skin and takes the blood, but it's very small and has a blue band across the middle of it. Does it mean anything if its different?
i had this done today (after i freaked out and yelled a little too much at the nurse doing it) but mine had a long tube attached to the needle and then the bigger area for the vile to be attached. Is that only because I had the "butterfly" needle?
@intothedawn Ahh, i think it is. A while back when I was a lot more scared of needles than i am now, i asked for the smaller one as well, and thinking back it seems larger than the one they used on me recently.

if i had my own needle and tourniquet, i would take my blood all the time for the fun of it, and i would take a LOT at a time because its cool to watch ur blood come out of u like that
It doesn't really hurt, just a little sting.

Sounds to me like you need a hobby. Maybe learn how to play a musical instrument, or learn a useful and productive skill or something.
Think about it.
