  • HAHA! Sounds and looks as if she would performe Cinderella or so! And this bad coloraturas!

  • wow this is scary

  • I don't think she's any good actress but she's an excellent singer for sure!

  • Her facial shows she's got no ideia what the music talks about!

  • the things i want to do to her vagina. oh yeah she sings well too

  • her crazy eyes are a little disconcerting, but a beautiful rendition nonetheless.

  • excelente !!!! de las mejores lied de la reina de la noche

  • I think this is close to perfection......

  • najo nie mehr schuften bin so reich

  • she is by far the best queen of the night

  • that would be wierd if she sang like that during sex

  • Is she Greek?

  • @jemmabond She's Hungarian.

  • I prefer her performance in the Minkowski production. She's the best soprano for my aural tastes, however she sounds a little thin in this one (compared to what she sounded like in the Minkowski)

  • She is my queen of the night.

  • so super klasse hab mega kohle und es kann an sich jeder lol

  • hahahah omg her expressions its like yeah biatch im awesome... lol

  • hahahah omg her expressions its like yeah biatch im awesome... lol

  • It seems she cannot understand what she sings. This is such a demanding aria and she sings it like a vaudeville. As a good point, she is sharp.

  • @avemunditje Yup - either her eyes are grinning despite the words, or it's the teeth! Most offputting.

  • ehm das was ich entdeckt habe geht sowas von ab

  • excelent

  • élőben még jobban csinálta.GRAT

  • hmz ich bin erregt

  • she is pretty hot <.<

  • What can I say? I forgot to call her.

  • well she's supposed to be the queen of the night, so she has to be scary.

  • Simply magical!

  • don't you hate it when people don't know how to post videos with the correct aspect ratio??

  • Great music but dang she looks wired on crack or many cases of 5hr Energy or somethin'

  • WOW...! Amazing... (y)

  • Amazing performance, amazing voice, amazing technique! It is a personal opinion, but I found great the way she straps her cheek up uncovering the front teeth in order to obtain those clear and perfectly tuned high notes, obtaining at the same time the satanic laugh of the character (with this aria the Queen of the Night reveals herself as the bad one of the story).

  • Except for the highest notes and triplets, she did the last part brilliantly.

  • Her vibrato is a little inconsistent and diction is the best, which I understand it's harder to understand in that range, but Diana Damrau performed flawlessly without all the screeching.. :\

  • @Lerma9012 I could not agree more... Diana Damrau rules this Aria... Flawless... you just cant get enough of her

  • She has very nice nice voice. But I think that she is not as dramatic as she should be. She is singin like she's on a cloud in the sky.

Anyway, her voice is clear - only smtimes isnt. This is very hard aria - but we have to look at it, that it's nothin for us - if we wanna sing that. There isnt many people, who can sing it clear and dramatic.

But she did dunny face at the camera :D

  • wow... this was impressive, i admit.:D

  • her facial expression is like "what the fuck u looking at?!!! " hahahaahha

  • @upaa83 i totally agree with you...

    it's very agressive...

  • @upaa83

I find her faces kind of scary xD

  • @psychoticxexotic

    yea....dont watch at night. hehe

  • @upaa83 she is supposed to look fierce because the queen of the night wants her daughter to kill an enemy pretty good facial expression lol

  • @prettycool997

yea, i know. but i just can't help it. is too funny. haha

  • @upaa83 funny?

  • is fantastic

  • @pataxinha I think they're supposed to. It's a pretty scary song. Hahaha

  • I think Erika Miklosa is one of my favorites. Even though the version of the play I saw made her look crazy as hell.

  • her eyes are freaking me out 2:25. but very nice voice

  • i think shes rushing...

  • love the eye movement.

  • My favorite singer, and my favorite aria of all time! She is flawless!

  • She supposed to be naked

  • eh, i don't care what anyone else thinks of her, her technique, or her performance-i still love her and this is my favorite version of der holle rache :)

  • Wow, excellent!

  • i love her.

    Amazing!!!!!!!

  • Did anyone else notice she's not really singing?

  • I really enjoyed this post. Notice how she "smiles" for the top notes. This is good technique, showing the increased assistance of the strap musculature. The intonation and even tone are particularly impressive. Brava!

  • actually she sings it very fancy. mozart's compositions are really fancy already. if you sing fancy the composition will be mess

  • very good her voice is like melody

  • A fine voice, but, as with Christina Deutekom's version (equally well sung technically), there is little feeling - the song is supposed to be threatening, to say the least. Of all versions, I believe that only Diana Damrau makes you believe totally in what she is singing. If there are others as good as her, I would love to know who they are.

  • @ghtsw11

Natalie - of course it's tough to be threatening when you're that small, but she's acting all the way, unlike DD, who sometimes seems to be concentrating on her singing.

The character is torn, you know, which ND shows and DD doesn't. You're entitled to choose which you like, but I think the degree of "threatening" being presented is partially due to the director's interpretation. Compare the costumes, lighting, and makeup of the two performances - makes a big difference.

  • Eh, she looks like she's in love instead of being angry and evil.

  • the singing is fantastic but the expression on her face really doesnt match with the lyrics...

  • @rieke991; and what about her eyes...? It reminds me of eyes I've seen on high security wards for the mentally not so healthy people...

  • crazy!

  • FATAL

  • @TheHanipo A que si?>.<

  • Sry. i don´t get it. why the fck is she smiling? she´s supposed to be angry as sht but seems like she just told an unfunny joke and smiles cos she doesn´t know what else to do. well as i said, i prbbly just don´t get it....

  • @dackelslefze Well, she is just performing the music, not the whole thing. I find it understandable that she doesn't looks pissed off :P

  • @dackelslefze you are missing the second half of this video where the advert for vodka comes in..... "so good, it kills"

  • @Bassetenator oh xD well what´re you saying? she´s drunk? xDD

  • @dackelslefze no... its just so classy, and the song is about murdering someone.....

  • @Bassetenator

Yeah, I'd decribe it as manical.

She is so calm, posh and cool about murder.

The character she plays is batshit crazy :P

  • @Bassetenator And she looks damned happy about murdering someone. This is not well acted. The Queen of the Night is supposed to be one ticked off lady.

  • All that and she's beautiful.

  • 1.23..ha visto che la violinista è andata troppo vicino al clarinettista figo che le piace..

  • AMAZING!

  • woah, I am jealous!

  • one more thing , from all the "Queen of the Night "Der Hölle Rache videos i saw is it me or she is using too much vibrato ? in some places ok but its like everywhere : \

  • when she sings and looks at the camera she is like LOOK AT ME IM SO SEXY xDDD

  • She is hungarian ;)

  • amazing voice

  • BEAUTIFUL! If only she had not rushed the fast parts - otherwise this would be fantastic performance.

  • She has a good voice but she rushed through the high parts! NO NO!

  • Ow man!!! She is really good.....but.....scary too. Awesome!!!!

  • A-MA-ZING !!! That's beautiful !!*

  • AMAZING! Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzz....!

  • Excellent!!! Nice voice. And pleasant to look at also ;-)

  • her voice is better than Damrau

  • @keriah17 I'd have to disagree with you. she is very good but went out of tune many times, but she is very beautiful :)

  • @czech0418 I hear pitch problems too. Also, I assume she was going for the smiling while talking about wreaking vengeance, but it just comes across as being too smily faced.

  • @keriah17

It's hard to say. I don't know about voices but I would definitely say I like Damrau's performance overall; but again even that is a hard comparison because one is staged and one is not. Not really a fair comparison I guess. Apples and Oranges.

  • @keriah17

She doesn't even compare to Diana Damrau.

Her voice is too light for Queen of the Night.

Diana Damrau IS the queen of the night.

Miklosa is alright, and fantastic in other repertoire. This role just isn't suited to her, in my opinion.

  • @itshopkittens her voice is definitely not too light have you even watched or listened to any of her other perfomance, if you did you would hear how great her vocals are

  • @keriah17

Like I said, I my opinion is that she is FANTASTIC in other repertoire. I just think Damrau is better suited to this role. But I respect your opinion. I do think she is a great singer, I just like her better in other roles.

  • 1:12 Definition of Jealousy.

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Her tessitura is in the clouds.

  • her gaze is frightening

  • @andara1987 And she has that little smile that says either "Pamina, one or both of you will be toast; it's your choice," or "I can sing Der Holle Rache like the devil, so fuck you."

  • WOW AMAZING!!

  • Her voice: WOW

    Her face: LOL

:) but i really like her!!

  • an interesting talent, cool to see, plus what fun in the sack , O

  • she loses the tempo !

  • @baaboy83 well,,try to sing with a corset on,,and breathe at the same time,,and this is hard to sing ,,for real..

  • @KGRRRRR

    she is magnificent !

  • @baaboy83 she´s not keeping it i´d say! she´s rushing, but it would be really cool if she just kept the staccatos even and steady. but who are we to judge, I couldn´t pull that off in a hundred years...

  • @glmiri

    she is the best

    she is really magnificent !!!

  • @baaboy83 she is great indeed of course.

  • What are we talking about? It's singed in a recital not like a piece in the opera she doesn't need to act since it's out of context.

Erika is absolutely fantastic; comparing her with Damrau who almost colapse on the higher notes is meanless. It's the best performance I ever heard, Lucia Popp's or Callas never singed this area at this tempo.

    Absolutely amaizing!

  • @ripahoratiu

    Yes! Yes! This is amazing!!!!!

She is a great talent and what a temperament!

I have heard she live. Fantastic!

  • LOL she just laughs it off 2:18

  • The opera singing style does not leave much space for making sure that words are discernible... 'tis a shame.

  • I love her but yes, she is going to eat my soul. her eyes are coming out at you...........OMG this is one of my favorite pieces from Mozart. I will be able to hit that note soon :D

    Bravo and Encore :)

  • @the1theonlyg Good luck! It's pretty hard, but you can hit it if you practie a lot.. :)

  • Bahaaa, she makes funny faces. But holy shit her voice is amaaazing. 0_0

  • Elle n'est pas en rythme ... elle rame -_-"

  • Overall quite good. Her high F sounds like a mouse's death cry. No good high F

  • I love the begining of this piece mozart is saying "shit its going down bitch"

  • Look at the setting, look at what she is wearing...she is not performing as part of a performance of the Magic Flute. It is obviously a concert recital thereby she does not need to 'act out' the song. She is merely singing it for the pleasure of others. I'm quite sure she knows the she is singing...she wouldn't be an opera singer if she didn't know context.

On another note, her coloratura is superb.

  • "Der hölle Rache kocht in meinem Hertze" She sang with her million-dollar smile on her face.... I bet she doesn't know what it means... It also sounds like she doesn't know what is means...

  • @PianoBart958 maybe you are right, but Hungary was in former times part of the K and K monarchy. The Austrian Emperor ruled as well over Hungary, so most of the Hungarian learned the German language. So it is possible that German is still taught in Hungarian schools...

Do you think, that her style is too sterile? less of emotions?

  • @ecki444 No i do there are emotions, they're just not the right emotions :P this piece is supposed to be sung with rage and anger. She sings it like she's singing happy birthday. I prefer maria calas :)

  • @PianoBart958 Did callas ever sing this? I don't think she has so it's hard to compare.

  • @PianoBart958 agreed. If she translated the song, she might have misinterpreted a bit....she's telling Pamina to kill Sarastro or else she'll disown her. If I was threatening my daughter like that, I probably wouldn't be smiling. Then again....maybe her interpretation is just someone with a screw loose.

But she sounds amazing.

  • Amazing, Passionate, Powerful and terrifying all at the same time, her eyes look like she is some sort of pathological mass murderer

  • Reptile Wins... fatality !

  • She is supposed to be acting as a mean queen...

  • Nice voice, but look at her face: she did not know, what she sing. It`s not a Belcanto-Primadonna-Aria for fun to show the technic, its a unhappy mother..., I expect to see this in her face.

  • Sólo hay que tener actitud de Symphonic Metal...

  • hypnotized.....

    "Jump off a cliff"

    *jumps off cliff*

  • She is so lovely, and what a voice!

But I wish she didn't look at the camera.

Mind you, she has made it a little simple for herself - a couple notes are missing - compare with other versions

  • i like diana damrau and sumi jo better....

ew ew ew ew out of tune!! my ears!!

  • i like diana damrau and sumi jo better....

  • to BaileySings: you are so right!!!

    her eyes!!! :):)

nice voice.... but the highest note is a bit... hicksed... :)

  • 200 people are tone deaf.

  • she is good but not as good as diana diamaru

  • im scared T.T

  • Sorry for those who like this version but to my opnion is the worst I have ever heard, her "voce caprina" ruins it all and on top of that her high notes sometimes are not exact some even out of tune. This is not even a shadow to the rendition of Diana Damrau in the same role. :(

  • @EdwinSmiths Agreed. Damrau owns this role.

  • omq. 2:25 scared me

  • she doesn't have the rest that diana damrau has, but still very good :O

  • Lovely voice.Beautiful woman and impresive performace.Yes, his eyes is scarry just in this scene.Beutiful eyes, anyway.

  • she brings the emotion of the song totally wrong

  • è molto brava ma il fa sopracuto del vocalizzo famoso è un pò sforzato e quindi instabile!

  • FANTASTICA!!

  • I was yesterday January 6th/2011 at Lincoln Center, was a TOTAL bliss to be there when she was singing, THANK YOU ERIKA.

  • looks like she swallow a big whistle..

  • 0:54 is the only reason i watch this lol

  • LOL AT THE COWARDS WHO HATE ON STRONG WOMEN HERE. GO KILL YOURSELF TRASH, YOUR TIMES ARE ENDING, THE WORLD IS CHANGING

  • Take her from behind singing like that...omg

  • THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!!!!!

  • I want her...

  • putaa

  • when i hear this song my headache stops for a while

  • Brilliant singer..

The evil stare reflects perfectly on the VERY dramatic text!

  • Well, if you look at the translation of the text, it might be easier to understand the "crazy eyes"... The vengeance of Hell boils in my heart, Death and despair flame about me! If Sarastro does not through you feel The pain of death, Then you will be my daughter nevermore. Disowned may you be forever, Abandoned may you be forever, Destroyed be forever All the bonds of nature, If not through you Sarastro becomes pale! (as death) Hear, Gods of Revenge, Hear a mother's oath!
  • The stare is scary.

  • is it me, or is she too fast in the textless passages (especially in the beginning)? the orchestra seems to have a hard time keeping up. to my hearing she doesn't keep the pace.... great voice though...

  • @Panbaneesha No, I hear it, too.

  • mind piercing eyes

  • "Crazy eyes" is not really acting...but I adore her voice.

  • @terribithiajjls12 you perceive her eyes as crazy cause you're either 1) misogynist ,a hater of women or 2) insipid lifeless American or Western European who has no human emotion left inside. She is Hungarian and for athlete. F*ck little mediocrities like you

  • @xanyxxxx Neither of those options has a direct causality to my opinion and for your information, none of those descriptions apply to me.

  • Hihetetlen!! Micsoda könnyedség!! BRAVÓ!

  • die schield :D

  • She has to stare like this. After all, she sings about anger and revenge.

  • Killer stare!!!!!

  • Devil stare. Gah.

  • Miklósa Erika valóban tud nézni, bár engem leginkább a gyönyörű Éj Királynője ária köt le!

Csak egy tipp:::: Ha véletlenül valami zavar a videó miatt ,vagy csukott szemmel hallgatom,ne adj' Isten,hátatfordítok a monitornak,a zene-ének mindenért kárpótol!!!!

  • She is to flat on her second high f :D

  • Gyönyörű számomra Magyarország leges legjobb hangja!!:))
