Isn't funny how things on old school TV are cheesy in retrospect, LOL! I'm more interested in the commercials - WOW! Really, beans and spaghetti!? And check out the hair.
I hope someone has the first season finale and can post it. That one was the last of the red set (ending with Alan Leboritz winning his second game-he went on to the second season premiere).
I can only guess this was recorded to tape from an antenna signal -- correct me if I'm wrong.
I don't judge based on quality, though. A great first-season episode. Funny to see a couple of technical glitches crop up through the game. But, hey. It was the first season. Things can only (hopefully) get better, tech-wise. :D
Not sure where it came from (I only inherited the tape), but you could be right. Things did indeed improve tech-wise; you never see those errors today (though it probably be edited out of the final print). Thanks for the comment!
So Steve Rogitz's run was from March 22-28, 1985 is what you're saying Zach? Also, the Mike/Penny/Ron episode was originally aired on WNBC after David Letterman(and FNV on Friday nights).
J! aired on WNBC TV after David Letterman at 1:35AM(2:35AM after Friday Night VIdeos on Fri. )from 9/10/84-12/28/84. WABC picked it up on 12/31/84 and aired it at 4PM, upon ABC's cancellation of Edge of Night(the 4PM time slot went back to the local stations at that point). That move probably helped J! make it past its first station, word is it wasn't doing that great early on. Alex mentions in the 1990 J! book that he tuned into J! at the time it was on in LA, and found a Quincy rerun instead.
I would like to know what Game # is this rare J! episode and did GSN air this episode during its first 3 years on the air? Now we know why, Bruce Fauman's 3rd game was aired in an earlier part of March 1985, so this episode was aired later in March 1985. So I'm thinking that this is from the week of March 25-29, 1985 because of the Oscars you were saying.
Yeah, Alex flubbed the time (I counted to 30 during the think music). And I'm sure if the result depended on it (which it didn't, thankfully). they would've indeed shown the card.

I'm still wondering why no one bothered to choose the "Browns" category in round one...that would have been interesting to see...
TaurusWrangler 6 months ago
It is an interesting category, for sure.

The OScars were held on 3/25 in 1985 as per Wikipedia.

Steve was also in the 10th anniversary tournament in 1993 but didn't make it past his first game.

STeve Rogitz was on WWTBAM in August 1999 but didn't make it into the Hot Seat.

Steve Rogitz would later go on to the '85 ToC and then Super Jeopardy! afterward.

Wait, I thought Sony made copyright claims on jeopardy episodes?
TheAccount2econd 6 months ago
I'm not going crazy on them (nor do I intend to), so let's let this one go.

@gamelover1949
Oh, cause I was ready to say, why are you uploading Jeopardy episodes anyway despite what happened on your main channel?
TaurusWrangler 6 months ago
It sure won't be very frequent. It probably will be awhile before I consider it again.
gamelover1949 6 months ago
@TheAccount2econd They don't seem to be going after Jeopardy for some reason.

And did I hear that Alex said the two players had 25 seconds to write down their FJ response? It's supposed to be 30.
And if the pens malfunctioned, shouldn't they have an index card and a marker to write down their response (as noted on the DVD)?

Does anyone here know when Jeopardy! moved to WABC-TV and what time did it air at?
