mine is failing right now, i'm a photographer...Maxtor may have just ruined my lifes work... i may be only 24 but i took some god damn awesome photos in my time
TWO OF THEM DAMN DRIVES FAILED ON ME O. One yesterday and the other one 3 weeks ago. WHY LORD. WHY?????? I got one in the freezer right now and see what that does.
wait.. so it rolls a corrupt version of windows back to a version that works but keeps all of the current stuff.. im sorry, what? thats kinda pointless if one of the CURRENT files caused a problem and you are unaware of it
AVOID MAXTOR. I lost 250 GB of data because of my external drive. It failed only after about 7 months of use. Now I got a Hitachi internal drive and it's fast and hasn't failed... yet.
you lost your 30 gb coz ur dumb.. first handle it with care.. it depends on how u use it.. maxtor rocks.. it is owned by seagate,, buy one.. i prefer the maxtor one touch 4 mini.. very fast when u write files.. my 10 GB files write for about 9:44 mins with maxtor
Grumpy. All drives are subject to failure, therefore there is risk with any decision. It is just that Maxtor has an extremely high failure rate. Look at other brands.
my external maxtor hard drive 300 gig just crashed.... ITS EXTERNAL and it just clicks... I just used it for back up, now my son's birth, and other important pictures videos are gone...
Mines has just died as well. After 4 years. 300GB worth of data lost. Stuff I had collected over years. All gone. Though it only happened AFTER I updated my DVD/RWs' firmware. I tried a system restore but since my comp cant recognise my Maxtor drive anymore thats obviously not going to work.
So I'm screwed but i've contacted Seagate Data Recovery Services and see if they can recover some of the data and wont charge me a stupid price. Waiting on their quote to come through.
Maxtor hard drives are awful. I bought two one touch III, and in less than a year, they are both dead. Maxtor will not stand behind them. These drives are cheaply made and not trustworthy. Trust me, don't buy these - you will lose your data.
I'd bet the Maxtor would crap out before your primary device... unless, of course, your primary device is a Desk/Deathstar ;-)

At first I thought that negative notes were from clueless users.
BUT google onetouch maxtor reviews and you will find that the onetouch maxtor
is BAD news.

LOLOL! MAXTOR! You must be an idiot to trust your files to a maxtor HD!
Just don't plug it to your PC for a long period of time or you'll be sorry!
Plug it BACK UP then run and unplug the thing and put it away!
OR BY A WD and forget about it!!
