honestly i think they used the open ending as a tool to manipulate whether or not shadow would be in the next games. I think that sega waited for feed back from fans to see if shadow was a well reseaved character or not, so if he was a character nobody liked they could easily use the excuse "oh he's dead so he's not coming back" or if everyone loved him (like we all do) they could easily say "well he is the ultimate life form, of course he'd live"

@JJN2Chess Open Ending; You have the option to believe Shadow did sacrifice his life for keeping his promisse and then being replaced by a Shadow Android ~OR~ you can just believe Shadow was just a damn lucky guy who survived, vanishing all the credit about he almost sacrificing himself.

@Kussinator This was based off episodes,in episode 60 rouge found tht eggman had shadows body in a capsule looking thingy but had no memory.....and then 18 episodes later he died again...came back and shadow the hedgehog game and no memory again and then he never did die again...yet.....i really hope he doesnt die again

Sonic Team always makes very good soundtracks but this one is particularly amazing. that ending song is one of the most beautiful and touching pieces of music i've ever heard in my life.

Every song in this game seemed to be carefully composed and in most of them you can't help but humming along.

i agree with cubex55. SA2 is the best 3D Sonic game. The hunting missions are extremely fun too, in my opinion, Sonic/Shadow gameplay is by far the best in the franchise, and the Tails/Eggman stages aren't bad either. It's an almost perfect game if you ask me. not also corrects every bad aspect from SA1 as it improves its good aspects as well.

Don't know why some people bash the Adventure series when they are clearly the best example of how to do a excelent 3D Sonic game.

@Violitix the real Shadow died in 2001 actually. That Shadow that appeared in later games (except Sonic Heroes, which had a very strange timeline) is just a cheap emo copy.

This is the real Shadow, the one everybody loved cos he was fucking cool. Now he's just a fucking emohog with boring gameplay.

@Violitix yeah, a story exists, i was just referring to the gameplay. The shadow is the same, as the timeline in Sonic games is pretty dumb, but the Shadow with the fast-paced gameplay similar to Sonic does no longer exist.

In this game we were suppose to get that he did, but SEGA decided to bring him back because he became so popular to be now second best sega character, fist is sonic -.- so in Sonic Heroes when eggman was defeated he admitted to shadow that he did not die, he is the real ultimate lifeform and one of eggmans robots saved shadow from the fall in SAB2. While shadow was captive and in hypersleep eggman made copies of him, its even stated online

Maybe this will help: In Sonic Adventure (Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut as well), his name was still Robotnik. Sonic was making fun of him and his fatness by calling him Eggman. So his real name is still Robotnik, although in Japan he was always known as Eggman. Even in shows like "Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog" (1993 DIC), some may still use the word "egg" in some respects to Robotnik. I use either interchangably.
