Yeah i agree, 6 weeks for average pilots license????? Maybe if your parents are like billionaires living in Dubai and sending you to some royal academy flight school for 8 hours every single day. 6 weeks is NOT reality, but fantasy. Its possible, but highly unlikely for the average Joe.
"Pilot's License" in "as long as 6 weeks"....WTF???!!! Average Private license (rotorcraft) takes 6 months.. CFII is about 18 months and $75k+ and the success rate is less than 1 in 10.
For what it is worth, the Red Bull helicopter is an MBB Bo-105 Bolkow and it is a very responsive helicopter and is indeed capable of aerobatics due to the fact that it is one of the few helicopters in the world equipped with a rigid, or hingeless rotor system. The Bolkow is old, but it is still a delight to fly and I really hated to part with it!
I have about 1,000 hours in the Bell 407 (N407PH) and it is really something to behold! A very enjoyable beast!
@Classic63EType Man... it would be an honor to meet you. I have hundreds of role models like yourself, just couldn't "cut it" in helicopter flight school. I have loved helicopters since I was 8 (I'm now 31) and like I hinted in my last sentence flew R-22's back in 1998. I wish I had the money I had back then to try once more... no military for me right now, just happy being a civilian. Flown in many different models, but not 407's., just Bell 47's thus far.
Give your local school a call. They will be more than happy to oblige. You probably won't be in a 407 though :P (jealous. I wish i'd done my training in that!)
cool...thx mark. a friend of mine had a heli lesson and he couldn't get the hand of the cyclic. the auto-rotation looked a bit bumpy, but walked away nonetheless.
I wonder how an RC heli pilot fair out in a real heli first time without any simulator training?

Helicopters beat planes in EVERY way. Helicopters are funner, better looking, safer, has more uses, and can hover :D

extremely interested in being a commercial Helicopter Pilot or even an instructor... anyone have suggestions for funding etc?

this instructor is a jerk off, at 6:55 the stinger was too close to the ground! Rule #1 for hovering practice is a higher than normal hover...

@ColtDeltaElite10mm I finished all my pilots licenses including CFI in less than 9 month. So it's definitely possible

I'd like to input a controller (video game) to control something like this... it's much simpler and your hand can access anything

lol, I wonder how I'd fly after probably 40 total hours of various helicopters in sims, but no rudder pedals and collective. I'd love to see :D.
Does anyone know what the age limit for an introductory flight like this is?
