@YoshiTheBlue Communism and anarchism propose a classless society or state, while communism does through socialism, which is to take the state and go slowly turning into communism, anarchism argues that it is impossible to take state power without being corrupted by greed so which one should abolish the state. Stalin was corrupted by power and the state was never abolished.

I wont reply directly to the top comment since it's quite old but - it was indeep a "government". Any form of organization, be it fascist or anarchist, is a government.

What it was not was a "state" which is a different beast all together.

And I don't believe the poster was suggesting it was a republic, he says "socialist republic of Spain" in reference to the actual state that the republican forces were in kneel too, backed by the USSR.

My friend dont forget that CNT(1910) was Catalan and FAI was Valencian, they confederated forming the anarchosyndicalist confederation CNT-FAI fighting for their liberty against fascism,nazism and stalinism.In 1936 CNT-FAI had more than 1,000,000 twinned members and the majority of them where from Catalonia and Valencia(paisos catalans) ,do you know why?
