they should get old and new reo together to tour have allan and gary play old reo and brian and dave play newer stuff they would sell out every were and give us old time fans something one last herahh
Does anyone know where this concert was and what year? I have yet to see copies of this concert anywhere. These clips are great, would love to see the whole concert. Gary rocks, seeing these videos makes you miss him even more :-( . He was never appreciated enough, period!
This song defines REO Speedwagon for me. I owned the first in car cassette player in my hometown....one of the first tapes I bought was "You can Tune a Piano, but you Can't Tuna Fish". 1, with that album title, how can you not buy it? 2, in my opinion, the genius behind REO isn't singing, not guitar solos as good as they are, no, the genius behind this band is keyboardist Neal Doughty, go listen to Speedwagon & pick out the keyboard tracks, he's a genius and the best in my opinion bar none!
Great upload, Ricardo 1968! *This* is the way it's supposed to be, and what a "two-fer" on the solos --- one of Richrath's best breaks, ever, and then Neil piles on one of the best little honky-tonk piano riffs this side of The Killer! :-D I wish you'd re-load it, though, so it doesn't start and end in the middle, and push the volume a little bit, if you can. Meant to be played LOUD LOL!
Just watched this again, and DAMN! It's spectacular. My last post about this video ended up making no sense. Someone said this was on Midnight Special, and I was disagreeing. I still disagree, but I should have clarified what I was disagreeing about. The crown was pretty big for Midnight Special. The footaage is just awesome, though. I love, love, love this song. I love Gary's solo. If I am ever reincarnated I want to come back as Gary Richrath's guitar!!!!!!!
Gary Richrath is a great guitar player and was responsible for the REO sound, he also wrote many of the songs that Made REO popular... REO has not had a hit song since Gary Richrath left the band... Kevin Cronin was one of three different singers REO employed.
Reo ,"You Get What You Play For",is the best live album ever!Came out in 75' before the pop.Golden Country rocks on the album! If you dont have it get it!
If you were, it was probably 1978. For one, Bruce Hall didn't join the band proper until then. You can Tune a Piano but you can't Tuna Fish was the name of the album this song was from. Roll with the changes was off the same album. While REO did do a couple of new songs off new albums, it was usually done just before a release.
Reo double live,"You Get What You Play For"is the best live album ever!Came out in 1975 before all the pop hits.Golden Country has the best lead by Gary that I've ever heard. If you don't have it ,get it!
one of Gary's more simplistic guitar solo's. still good though. Kevin wrote most of REO's hits by the way. If you get a chance, check out REO if they come through your town - great show! The anti-REO remarks from "reo fans" are from the operater(s) of the phony REOFANS "fan club". The "owner" Kathy has some grudge against the band (minus Gary) and likes to spread her negativity and lies about REO all around the net. She can't stop fans from being fans.

Fantastic song! Gary's unique guitar playing style mixed with Neil's keyboards made this a song a winner.

Whats the old REO song I used to hear back in (I think )the early 70's, it was pretty heavy-unlike this typical rock/country tune playing here

Actually, You Get What You Play For was released in 1977. One year before You Can Tune A Piano, the album this song is from, was released
