I'm a firm supporter of Mr. Obama, but why is it that his supporters insist on cramming this simplistic sentimental drivel down our throats at every opportunity?

Why is it that both parties try to appeal to the absolute base emotions rather than encouraging voters to think for themselves? By definition, they are adults so why treat them like morons?

It rather reminds me of the bridge at Avignon (0:25 in this video), famous for only going half-way across the river. "Yes we span" indeed...
