@banginpride yes you are right, with a normal flight a fully loaded aircraft would dump fuel before landing, however because this aircraft suffered an engine failure it is vital to land ASAP... Usually dumping fuel occurs over the sea at a relatively high altitude so the aviation fuel doesn't cause any harm, but as you heard the pilot requested 2,500ft which is relatively close to the ground and still flying over land, if the aircraft did dump fuel it could cause far more harm than good... You
@MrMoutrij OMG!!! Christ, Im glad you removed you're comment, maybe before commenting you should read the conversation... No offense but you have the audacity to call someone stupid and an arsehole, and THEN you read the comments? I was explaining to banginpride why the pilots DIDN'T dump fuel! Thanks for youre lovely comment anyway... Have a good one :)
Top video thanks for uploading. i have a question if anyone can help. obviously she was fully loaded with fuel so landing weight was not probably ideal hence 'heavy' under circstances like this isnt fuel dump neccessary? maybe im wrong..i aint no pilot lol.
@RaverBabyJumpStlye88 Yes, compare the amount of deaths over the history of large airliners in the last 2 years compared to car, bus and motercylce accidents. Going on a large cruise ship might be safer but 1 it will take you a week compared to an 6 hour and flight and you will pay alot more. So yes it is safer then by car.
@RaverBabyJumpStlye88 That also being said these planes can run easily one just one engine. In this event they would be given a runway or told to hold in the air until landing. There isn't much danger in this procedure. lol its when you lose all engines that you start to panic.
I am currently 13 years old i know all the basics of flight and it has been my dream to fly for thomson since i was 8 when it changed from brittania THATS SOME PILOT
gotta give it to him landing on 1 engine I would be shitting myself landing was not to bad in the conditions I will fly for tompson wen I have finished my qualifications
Well handled though, must have been scary for passengers looking out the window on take off, particularly horrible as a Thompson plane would be full of children. :(
Planespotting is a hobby which keeps many enthusiasts with cameras around airports around the world. I'm rather surprised we're not seeing *more* photos and movies of accidents happening. But then again, aircraft incidents are very rare.
Hats off to the pilots and the pro's behind the wheel. I must have watched this video 100 times, and it is never dull. Keep up the good work Thompson!
How people who dont know nothing about aviation can come here saying: fake!, Well sir, engines DO backfire like that, its called surging and it can be caused by many reasons just like ingesting a bird. And how can the spotter hear everything? Because they tend to have radios on tower frecuency everytime so they can do just that. Stupid people
THANK YOU, i'm in the air force and work on f-16s i see this shit all the time, and friends on the 15s say they see fireballs during their launch out.
Cool, calm, professional. Not easy when you're probably shitting yourself and trying to remember the drill. First officer even addressed the controller as Sir! Absolute class!
Excellent footage, excellent pilot emergency management and communication and excellent controllers response. A study case of how everything should work with AV-SEG
i think it's an 757, dnt know for sure, weard flames btw, i think the front blades are damaged so the gases doesnt compress very well, the fuel doesnt explodes but burns, i think that are the weard flames

The pilot fluffed his lines at 0:20 when he said "Thomson 253H" instead of the correct callsign "Thomson 263H".
