@321styles ?? where did you hear that? Diesels use glow plugs. This is a gas engine, you can see all four cycles when you pay attention, intake, compression, combustion (where everyone is seeing the flash from the spark plug) and Exhaust.
@321styles incorrect. Diesel engines use glowplugs. There are two configurations for either direct injection or indirect injection. For direct injection, the glowplug is in combustion chamber. For indirect, the plug is in the prechamber (where the fuel enters before being injected).
@321styles You are right. (see the comment by 1021connie). The glowplugs are heated by the battery when the key is turned to the "on" position. Once they are heated, a light on the dash goes out indicating it is ready to start. The reason for this is the plugs are designed to heat the diesel so the engine can start cold without trouble. The plugs are then "turned off" within around 5 to 10 seconds. After that the engine is able to produce heat by the compression which ignites the fuel.
oh shit there's no oil

How the fuck do you time a motor like that? haha. The pistons all make contact at different times!

This is the first time I have actually seen how a boxer engine works. Thank you for posting this.

@1021connie
You only need the glow plugs to start or in new engines in the winter. They don't do anything as soon as the engine runs.
