Both John and Paul preferred to work with the chemistry of other players, as opposed to presenting compositions for the group to dutifully learn and record. They were real rock n' rollers in that regard.

sorry but all mccartney's stuff outside of the beatles is utter rubbish. but the bad thing about it is he gets away with it because he is mccartney. the only good songs he has wrote outside the beatles are maybe i'm amazed, here today, and tug of war. how the hell can u justify crap like temporary secretary? or coming up. and this album was utter rubish he just cant do it without lennon. all the stuff john wrote pisses all over his shit. how can u compare temporary secretary with imagine?
well you're taking some of the worst McCartney (Temporary Secretary), which is just a goof tune anyway, and comparing it to Lennon's best. There are many more great MCartney tunes, you just have to sift thru a lot of drek to find 'em, which is asking a lot from a non-fan. Now, i'm a huge McCartney fan. but i understand the letdown felt by outsiders . I/We've been disappointed a lot, But even Dylan has had a lot of bad records too. Junior's Farm and Hi Hi Hi and Live and Let Die were great.
@ZeropointZero70 "Temporary Secretary" isn't great but I think he was trying to imitate Yellow Magic Orchestra or Kraftwerk. I also hear a little of Radiohead's "Idioteque" from "Kid A". So Paul was ahead of his time. Oh as he put it in the song "The World Tonight", "I go back so far, I'm in front of me".
Interesting seeing Eric Stewart talk up this notion of drawing out a more live and edgy sound with McCartney. I mean, that really didn't happen at all as far as I can can tell. Their collaboration just yielded more "soft" material. It was as if Stewart was projecting himself here as some kind of rockin' Elvis Costello --a case in which someone DID collaborate with Paul and produce a more immediate sound. still, "Yvonne" was a song that Stewart did with Paul and Paul did a great demo.
Hey! Wish Eric Stewart of 10cc a Happy Birthday! His birthday is January 20, but the deadline for emails to him is January 10th, so hurry and join in with all of us 10cc fans! Go here to send Eric birthday wishes!
Hey 10cc Fans! ERIC STEWART'S BIRTHDAY is coming up on the 20TH OF JANUARY - I'd love to get together a fan package to ship to him -notes from all his fans with birthday wishes, maybe including how/why you were inspired by his (or 10cc's)music -Let's make our birthday boy happy!!! It's the least we could do for a guy who has given us so much incredible brilliance over the years!! Please contact me for further info, QUICK!!!! :)
LOL - kitkat!!! Too funny! Yep, looks like ML definitly will be disappointed this Christmas...no scooby doo for YOU, Mutant boy! You're hilarious, kitkat! :) two thumbs up for this comment!
Thanks for that, Val. I think (hope) that ML has gone away for good now. Unless he has changed his name to patsfan 1229 - another idiot spouting bile about our gorgeous Eric on The Things We Do For Love comments, and other 10cc vids. What is wrong with these people?
I'm appalled and shocked by all the nasty, disgusting things my boy (real name Clarence) has been writing here. He's been misbehaving at school too.
I want to apologise to all those he insulted personally, and to everyone else offended by his vitriol. I've told Clarence that if he does this again he wont get his Spiderman outfit for Christmas, or that Scooby-Doo toy he wanted.
...Mutant, FYI - you couldn't hold a candle to the sh*t on the bottom of George Clooney's shoes-such a loser. How about commenting on the LOVE OF MUSIC while you're on here instead of people-bashing? Get out of your mommy's basement, and try to actually be socialbe and nice to people. It may very well reflect your commentary on here - and you might stop getting those "thumbs down"-however, you clueless freak, I somehow doubt it. Go back to fantasizing about Clooney. That must be all you've got :)
tell your husband- if he was doing the job in the bedroom then his poor neglected lonely, unsatisfied wouldn't have to hook up with young man meat studs like myself. he should get a cialis prescription, i hear it works wonders for limp old farts like him, thanks again for the sexy photos you sent me. hope that divorce your planning goes well, those jew attorneys are pretty cut throat. stay in touch sweety.
Mutant! I'm sorry there was involvement with another party about this whole thing - I was simply upholding Eric Stewart's talents - didn't mean for this to snowball. I have NOT sent you any photos, nor do I intend to! I'm sure you are a kind and decent person when you want to be, so please drop this, ok? I'm just in it for the music, that's all:) Are we cool? Cool.:)

boy mccartney teamed up with this douche from 10cc.........they made one crap album...it sucked mule...garbage and to collaborate with this nitwit...how pitiful...mccartney came to his senses and dumped eric stewart who is now bald...fuck him
MutantLarva thats too funny -- Yeah, this album definitely was the nadir of the McCartney totem pole. But, to see it over 20 years later, it defined what the era was all about (with u2 excluded) - I mean, Falco, Pet Shop Boys, Cameo, hell even Genesis came out with their crappiest music (lol albit most commercial). You can't really knock Paul - he and his bands have been in that crows nest for over 4 decades!
Hey Mutant - what's your gripe with Eric Stewart? Think about it! He's in the best of company with Paul's other co-writers...ever heard of a guy named John Lennon? Seriously. If Paul thought so much of Eric to trust him with his album, then show some respect for Eric's talents! I'm thinking it's YOU that needs the glasses, though - Stewart's not bald, hello!? And...maybe...YOU are the douche. :)

Mean, Mutant,Just mean. First of all, I'm only 35 & I'd STILL rather look at someone like Eric rather than someone like you who I'm certain lives somewhere in the bowels of your parents' basement, downloading music and criticizing poeple all day long with talent you'll never come close to having. Respect talent, Mutant...so stop scratching your jewels for a moment and stinking up your tiny area with B.O. and try being a bit open-minded for once. Good luck movin' on up to the trailor park :)

@valentinebaby73 This coming from an American who probably lives in the exact same situation as the "mutant". Can't wait til the bottom drops out and your banks crash. Drop you all back to the same level. Stop pretending you're somehow above the rest of the serfs.
MGAVBRACE - if you are referring to Eric Stewart's sunglasses it is because Eric had a very serious car crash many years ago leaving him with heavy scars around his eyes. Hence the sunglasses.
None taken. Just glad that you are able to see that Sir Paul chose Eric as his only writing partner since John Lennon because Eric is a great great songwriter. Take care.
