It was still a great performance, of course, but it was the end of the quieter, nasal, introspective Pacino of the 70s. As for GGR, for me there were a lot of outstanding performances. Jack Lemmon, Spacey, Ed Harris was epic in it. Nice cameo from Alec Baldwin too.

That was good, intelligent, incisive, and insightful.

Tarantino is usually caught talking shit about his contemporaries (mainly dead ones, like Kubrick, Hitchcock, and 'King Kong' [1933]). So I was surprised that he was speaking well of DeNiro, and glad for that too (DeNiro is one of the best, and is awesome hehehe).

Tarantino comes across as much, much cooler and more intelligent when he speaks like that, and I'd hope that he'd do like that more often, and the undue shit-talk less often.

I agree that Heat was a great movie but I feel it could have been edited down a bit. I liked the exploration of the main characters' personal lives and how their dedication to their professions affected them. But I also feel that the main focus of a caper flick should be the capers and the police investigation. The personal angle humanized the characters quite a bit, and I appreciated it. I just think that it slowed the momentum of the film. Just my (limited) opinion!
