  • hi i looked this video I liked the scheme can give DIY Laser Show

please or site where the scheme took

  • what is the name of the song?

  • @DJelectfire omen reprise - prodigy :)

  • @Splooshiba thanks!

  • @Splooshiba I just checked- Is it a remix? cause the original doesnt match this one...

  • @DJelectfire OH sorry, it used to be omen reprise and then youtube changed it for me :/. I dont know the name of this one sorry, its one of youtubes audioswap options but i cant seem to find the name.

  • @Splooshiba Nope DC brush-less fans don't work that way. they have diodes in them that prevent reverse currents.

  • love the laser and the song- what is the song btw?

  • - @Splooshiba -

I suppose it would depend on the motor. Most brushless fans don't work that way though.

  • I tried making something similar to this, but only using 2 mirrors, and it doesn't work very well. Do the Mirrors need to spin in opposite direction, or at a certain speed?

    Nice Vid btw

  • my mirrors all spin in the same direction, and then i varied the speeds to get different patterns. when starting it up i first do 1 mirror, which makes a circle, then use a second mirror and it makes the standard spirograph shapes, and then the 3rd seems to make these move in strange ways, like the growing and contracting circle.

i think the speed itself isn't important, its the ratio between speeds on the mirrors, although they all need to keep the persistence of vision speed

  • thx, that helps alot, but i have run into another problem. The PC fans i got says 12V on their label, and i dont have/know where to get 12V battery's. What kind of battery's did you use, and does it need to be 12V?

  • for the purposes of this video, i actually over volted the fans, which will damage them. Batteries struggle to supply the current needed for 3 fans too.

I'm now using a PC power supply as a desk power supply. All you do is connect the green wire to ground to make it turn on, and then use the connections for the motherboard / hard drives. Just get any spare one, they're cheap as chips if you don't have one.

  • I happen to have a broken computer, and i took the power supply out, the only problem is that is has only black, red, white, blue, orange, brown, purple, yellow, and grey wires, so i dont know how to start it up (you said green-ground starts is up). Also, on the power supply case it says for output it has 3 outputs 50V at 18A, 1 output 5V at 10 amps, and 1 output 12V at 4 amps, do you know which one is best to use?

    Thanks

  • il PM you, comment character limit is getting annoying.

  • at the end of my video, when there is a shot of the 3 mirrors in action, you can see the image the 2nd mirror is making being projected onto the 3rd mirror.

  • how many ohms are the potenciometers??100kohm or more?

  • it shouldn't matter, the point is that they split the current. the only thing that matters is the ratio between the 2 sides. the fan is connected in the middle, and high and low to either end.

  • sorry, they split the voltage*

  • is that all mounted on a tupperware container?

    very nice

  • indeed it is :P

its mounted on the lid, i cut a hole in the side of the Tupperware case so the laser can shine out, and then its all one contained unit

  • what is the mirror angle?

  • the angle does not have to be a specific angle, i put 3 layers of some thick tape under 1 side of the mirror, then stuck it down, this must have made it tilt about 1 or 2 degrees

  • how much is the angle?
