The Wii U is rumored to use the 4870. The 720 is rumored to use the 6670. The 4870 is actually almost 2x as strong as the 6670, do your research.
And actually, Wii U games will look better than the Zelda demo. Look at the Zelda demos for the N64 and GameCube. The final products (Ocarina and Twilight Princess) ended up looking much better than their tech demos.
Not all the time, but I'm making an observation about Nintendo and their demos. The Zelda games ended up looking way better than their demos, so I'd imagine it'd be the same case for Zelda U. Also, Reggie said that the demo used 10% of the hardware's power, and that was on 4-5 dev kits ago.

A lot of people hear what they want to hear and disregard everything else. For example, "Oh. the Wii U will only be twice as powerful as the Xbox 360." Do they have the spec sheet of the Wii U? No! And then a few weeks later, the same people say that the upcoming Microsoft console will be 20% more powerful than Wii U.
Or how about the confusion about Wii U being just a controller? Well if you watched the E3 conference, you would hear the speakers say "new home platform" before the Wii U reveal.

Good point on the processor architectures - PowerPC vs. x86 (Intel, AMD) is very different, and what used to differentiate Mac vs. PC - and even THEN newer generation of the same architecture varies too. But yeah man, WiiU is easily going to blow away the PS3 and 360.
I hate the fact that Wii funs are overexcited. There have been 7 years since Ps3 and X360 came out and the Wii U is just 50% better. You're very wrong about some points here...this technology nowadays is much cheaper to produce than it was 5-15 years ago. These companys are able to mass produce this stuff very cheap. And I think the Xbox720/Ps4 will be more powerful than the Wii U...I mean even the 2-3 years make a big difference nowadays. Moreover the Wii U has so much to improve form it's predecessor, more support, more games and a better online system. I think we should all wait and see until it comes out. no hype please

WiiU may have certain technical advantages but im pretty confident that playstation 3 can still hold it's own against WiiU in some technical aspects & especially with exclusive games.Also vita may have had an rough start but that dose not mean vita has lost & i am confident vita will have an successful product life that will give 3DS a run for it's money.

The wii u can easily be more than twice as power than current gen consoles. Just compare the gfx cards that current gen consoles are based off and how far todays gfx cards have come since then and just compare the specs.

CPU may be 3GHz, but it is POWER7 which makes any comparison to the CPU in the 360 laughable considering it is loosely based on the POWER4/ MB portion when it might actually be Mb which means bits instead of bytes. A system with 768 MBs of DRAM would be unaffordable and would be a monster, and the actual use of embedded DRAM should have let DRAM is. Translating those numbers for you from bits to bytes,
1080p makes me happy. I wish i had a better job cause I have enough money to by a new system but I'm really hesitant to spend money on new tech. I Rather just wait till cheap.
@oEXTRA Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against the Vita, heck I WANT it to do well. But I'm sure Nintendo isn't scared of the Vita. I see no reason for them to be. Both go for two different audiences. That price cut was done because it wasn't going as Nintendo expected. The second circle pad (in my opinion) was just a poor design choice. Nintendo is very confident that they will sell the most systems this gen as they have been doing since... well, forever.

For example, let's say the Vita costs $240 to make and they're selling it at $250, they're only making $10 profit each sale but wait that $10 gets cut into by retailers, transportation, marketing, etc. So that $10 goes bye bye and they're back to being at a loss but not as heavily as before. This is basically what each company goes......

i understand what your saying and its all true but the only problem i have is your messing up in a couple things....ram is on MBs nothing has more than 2gb ram for graphics.....gamecube is not stronger than the ps2....xbox was better than both....gamecube had less space on the disk and worse graphics ......if a game looked better on gamecube its just becouae the developers got lazy or they ported it wrong

@mikez541 The GC was stronger than the PS2, its not a big difference but it was still more powerful. you look it up if you dont believe me "worse graphics" Have you played Metroid Prime? and the only thing the PS2 had over the GC was it's 64 bit processor while the GC had a 32 bit.

If you look at the demo for the Unreal Engine 3 next gen graphics and the Cry engine's video I really doubt it can handle.. Nintendo needs to show more ingame demos.

You're very wrong about some points here...this technology nowadays is much cheaper to produce than it was 5-15 years ago. These companys are able to mass produce this stuff very cheap. CPU may be 3GHz, but it is POWER7 which makes any comparison to the CPU in the 360 laughable considering it is loosely based on the POWER4/ MB portion when it might actually be Mb which means bits instead of bytes. A system with 768 MBs of DRAM would be unaffordable and would be a monster, and the actual use of embedded DRAM should have let DRAM is. Translating those numbers for you from bits to bytes,

@oEXTRA Now don't get me wrong, I'm not against the Vita, heck I WANT it to do well. But I'm sure Nintendo isn't scared of the Vita. I see no reason for them to be. Both go for two different audiences. That price cut was done because it wasn't going as Nintendo expected. The second circle pad (in my opinion) was just a poor design choice. Nintendo is very confident that they will sell the most systems this gen as they have been doing since... well, forever.

For example, let's say the Vita costs $240 to make and they're selling it at $250, they're only making $10 profit each sale but wait that $10 gets cut into by retailers, transportation, marketing, etc. So that $10 goes bye bye and they're back to being at a loss but not as heavily as before. This is basically what each company goes......

@CresentSoul dude wth are you talking about ms isnt even in the handheld business_ also sony so far is the only company to be able to compete with nintendo in this category and survive_ also yeah the ps3 didnt sell as mich as the wii but the it still did good_ much better than nintendo did against them the past 2 gens_ u ppl crack me up about the vita its going to be interesting how u react as time goes on
